World of Warships- Tips For Ranked 

I have over fourteen ranks one titles since participating in the first season. There is quite a bit one can do to make rank easier. 1. Do not listen to CC and RU-vidrs to bring this and that ship because = God tier: Yes some ships are better suited for competitive game modes but in the end, it comes down to your skill level and how comfortable and experienced you are with the ship of your choice. Nothing is worse than bringing a ship into the match you are green in because some Reddit post or RU-vidr said it is the God Tier ship. In one season I ranked out in a Khaba with a 70% WR to prove this point. I used her high speed to get to the flank and focus the enemy DD then using the high speed to keep the enemy team spotted with the pew. :) Understanding Khaba takes full AP pen makes playing her effectively a high skill ship. Difficult but not impossible. That season I lost over 20 Karma points from other players verbally in disagreement about why I would bring a trash ship at the start of the match only for them each to eat their words in the end. A ship's performance is maximized by the skill and experience of her commander. 2. Save your star strategy is a waste of time: Since the save star mechanic was brought into Ranked every season I see that one player that brings the so-called farm ship to farm base XP to save a star. This tactic and type of ship serve no purpose to support your team and more often or not results in more effort for the player to rank out. This is why you see some players with 500 plus battles rank out where if they played properly would have ranked out in half the battles. On another note, this argument should be removed to make Ranked better is not true. The first four seasons did not have this mechanic and it was a lot harder to rank out vs today. 3. Have the mindset you will get no team support: This is the largest reason I see players lose their cool in Ranked. Going in with the mindset it is on you and you only to win the match will go far further than trying to rely on teammates to pick up the win. Not the mention of less gray hair or hair loss on your part. It always amazes me that one player that yolo rushes the enemy to get focused only to blame his team for lack of support. Always read the minimap and your teams position before you advance and/or support your teammate's advance. 4. Always try to stay alive: Going alone with number three a dead ship = guarantee loss since more often or not your team will disappoint you. Always stay alive to contribute more as much as possible. This does not mean you sit in spawn passive and snipe with HE. 5. If you lack any experience in higher ship tiers, do not participate: Yes I know this seems harsh but if you are one of the players with under 1k battles and just unlocked your first Tier 10 ship you will be in for a rude awakening coming into a ranked setup. For starters, I will clarify ranks under ten are considered the garbage ranks as any competent average player can make it to rank ten with effort. From rank ten to six requires a decent understanding of the game and its mechanics to advanced while rank five and above you have to bring your A-game to advance. The issue with higher tier ships like tier ten is it leaves no room for forgiveness if a player misplays. Making a mistake at tier ten unlike tier five usually means that player becomes a first blood trophy to the enemy team on a dev strike where lower tiers are more forgiving. This is especially the case when bringing in critical ships in the meta like destroyers. We have all had that one teammate in the solo DD but has under 500 battles under his belt because truth is told Powerleveling in WoWs is very easy. That lack of experience of playing a DD against radar ships, enemy DD gunboats, and CV is not only painful to the player but his entire team. This very scenario played out for one match yesterday where the DD player chased the CV the entire game and had only 400 battles under his account with zero battles in the Z52 in randoms. His thought process was CVs scare him so the road to victory was to hunt the CV. That CV was a Richthofen. I do not need to go further on what happened to him when he got close. :) 6. Be open for constructive feedback and only give feedback if you have the experience to: We can all improve on something and/or be alerted by a teammate on something you missed. There is a difference between hearing useful information versus just complaining and pointing the finger. With that said most information from your team is done with the sense to help the match however we have run across what I call Admiral Nimitz. The player that dies early in the match and backseats everyone with information you can tell is either incorrect or lacks the experience in the battle situation. If you are a player that is not a specific ship or class-main you are judging one's performance, you should take a back seat on the feedback. The most common I see is players thinking they are all CV experts on how they play but have yet to play an actual match playing one. Or the player that called me a newb for shooting HE in my Thunderer to a bow in Kremlin since I should use AP not thinking Thunderer HE has over a 100mm pen with 60% plus fire chance. We won that match because I was able to finish off that low health Kremlin not because of HE spam but because I understood the game mechanics and exploited that knowledge to best my enemy. 7. The team that loses their DD first most cases loses the battle: If playing specific support ships like Zao or Venezia they have excellent properties that make them excel as DD escorts. Follow your friendly DD near the objective at least 4k to 6k behind to help equalize the situation to your team's favor. Once your friendly DD spots or is engaged by the enemy DD then fire your shot and watch 7k to 14k of a DD health melt away given your team more breathing room to finish off the target. It is a shame I see most Zao, Venezia players resort to long-range farming. 8. Pace yourself with the queue: Unless you have large amounts of time it is best to set specific goals to reach a rank each day. After all, we have a full month almost to finish. This helps eliminate any burn out in the process. Also, pay attention to the queue. If you see a large amount of DD waiting bring a Cruiser to help counter that. A large amount of BB brings a cruiser or DD that helps counter that. CV tends to appear heavy the first few days but always dies down as the season carries on. The reason is unless you are a skilled CV player most average or new players do not know the core mechanics to earn the most efficient way to get base XP resulting in poor performance during the match. While many argue they are OP playing a CV in a competitive format is not the same as randoms and does take skill and knowledge to be very effective to be top leaderboard and rank up solo in a CV. They are the hardest class in ranked to master. In all just remember Ranked is a marathon, not a sprint, and is only really a test of one's sanity and patience. :)

I have developed a pretty good tactic to advance, slowly but steadily, in ranked. I play Kremlin, full survivability build. At the start of the match I put myself in the most obvious and noticeable position and let 2/3 of the reds focus me trying to put me down, which they can't, because I'm playing a Kremlin with Kuznetsov. So while I keep their guns locked on me, my teammates can do their job without too many risks, even if they are potatoes. I am farming a stupid amount of dreadnought and fireproof and for now I'm getting wins pretty consistently, so I guess it works

I am actually finding a bit of success and fun in my Venezia this season. A bit of practice for the next clean battles The biggest issue I have found is not necessarily potato teammates but rather a skill gap between the best and worst players. If everyone is at the same level, they will understand each others tactics and can support each other accordingly. If the gap is too large however (think new USN BB large), no one will understand the others tactics and not act as one coherent team which is really problematic

Each day I play for 1 win on my stalin, one on my GK, Then play something else. Rank 10 Oh and I am lucky enough to have time during the day So I don't play after school hours or weekend (for ranked)

Arms race only convince me everytime i play it that we should have a passive healing ! People play extremely passive because every bit of HP lost is...lost ! This doesn't promote active play when the best move is to not take damage ever. I would love a passive healing as default of 0.1%HP/sec up to 25% max HP of the ship. Then survivability expert : upgrade the healing to 0.15%HP/sec up to 50% max HP of the ship.

honestly, the game is just getting more frustrating then anything else... actualy I found Sprints this season to be better, because you can actualy find skilled players in it... still the 3vs3 ranked was so far the best and most fun. Seriously, whats with the MM these days... I took Aoba for a spin after 2 years, ended up in T9 battle, did 33k dmg and ended up being best player of my team with my 600 xp and second best player having 500xp...

The biggest problem I see in ranked is the mental state of the players,,, some of this younger generation of players..(you know who you are) are deeply psychologically anchored in the belief that only THEY truly understand the game, and that any loss or mistake absolutely has to be the fault of everyone else NOT following their "inspired gift of leadership" when in reality, they don't have a friggen clue.....:( I cannot tell you how many times I and maybe one or at most two other ships have seized, actively defended and held a flank and/or cap for the majority of the game, only to see the rest of the "team" evaporate on the other side of the map... Downright depressing. On the incredibly rare occurrences when I manage to get teamed with the 'emblem' crowd, the thrill of watching the coordinated efforts of those who not only possess the knowledge of how the game works, but also the skill in their ships to apply that knowledge in a rational and concerted way, rekindles the flame of enjoyment and personal satisfaction that got me into playing this game in the first place. Here's the kicker, in these latter contests, the game chat (at least from my team) remains nearly entirely silent.. Frankly, when I see people calling for Intelligence, smoke screens, assistance, air cover -u name it...all within a second or two of the game starting and before anyone has even managed to get their ships moving,,, my heart just sinks as the feeling of impending doom takes hold...PS: Before the personal attacks begin, let me just tell you I have 3 active accounts in this game, two with multiple lines leading to multiple tier ten ships, the third concentrating on the tier 6 to 9 'fun' ships :)

Just my golden number is, when it's going bad in 4-5 battles I quit and do something else, ranked won't end tomorrow. When it does start good and then starting to do comeback carrys and then teams become trash, starting to lose I quit, just try to progress daily by at least 1 star. If it doesn't happen then quit before you fall down even more.

After being told by a "teammate" in 3vs3 that I was the sh*first captain he had ever seen, I posted a psa to my clan basically asking them to remember that you are playing with is a real person and please be patient, be kind and have fun.

I have been having a lot of fun in ranked with my Gearing, because I am not stressed about it. It’s kind of nice to not play random for a while.

gave up trying to use kurfurst n yamato n radar cruisers my best way to win and its working is playing full stealth conqueror and pushing the last thing the enemy wants to see is a conq in the middle of a map ap loaded or if i know a dd is nearby he loaded , been getting a lot of dev strike tnx to this and also wins but also there comes teams where everyone just sits n does nothing while the dd cries for help from ca they just sit play conq actually lets me help my dd better also thunderer should be banned those who play this just accelerate to the edge of map like seriously wtf y help u idiots come front push

For me there is no fun in ranked above Rank 10. Tryharding left right and center. Thats why i stop there and return to grinding lines etc. Sprints on the other hand are great and fun !

Kinda sad, bought the thunderer after the vids instead of the Georgia and really dont like the ship can't get it refunded, which is frustrating

Sound advice. I tend to take things too seriously, and it almost always lead to frustration either with myself or my allies. I forget to just have fun. ;)

Yeah, that’s my entire mindset when playing this game. I get my blood pumping when I get those occasional krakens, though.

If you want to make a helpful video, make a video on how to use radar/hydro. I think the majority of players who play WoWS dont know how to use radar/hydro or at least not use it effectively. There are really know videos on youtube on it. I see twitch streamers who stream WoWS complain all the time that radar/hydro is not being used properly but no one ever bothers to share this knowledge.

Please do a dirst impression on the franch cruiser line.

That Thunderer you took out didn't seem OP to me. You were being focussed fired, he had full health, you killed him, and you had half your health left after. Try the Thunderer in a few Ranked games and see if that changes anything for you.

Are we able to rent ships this season?

I don't play this ranked to get as fast as possible, I play it to grind the planes of my CVs and because dockyard missions are easy to finish there. So far having good results as CV main this season.
