Weather has been hot and the fishing has been slow. Flounder season in NC is a whole 2 weeks, catch one if you get a chance and the weather cooperates. Josef got lucky today, me not so much. I wish I had used 6/0 kahle hooks and connected on one of the many bites that I had. Which flounder hooks are your favorite. Puffers and pigfish stole my crabs most of the day, only one lucky black drum. Hopefully when the weather gets cooler the fishing will pick up. Get out there and be somebody!

Fresh bait matters. Live finger mullet are Dynamite for catching big flounder. Catch Mud Crabs under "stuff", below the high tide line (Wear Gloves, oyster cuts are nasty). The purple crabs with spots and striped legs are stone crabs and are illegal to possess.

For flounder I'm using a diesel minnow with pro cure on a texas eye jighead and bouncing it off the bottom. Try to rip his lips off when you set the hook! Hook up ratio has gone way up over live bait.

Was catching a lot of them rays off of Kure in NC last november. Those things can be so heavy even small

We got 3 small grouper that evening too. Ended the evening with about 2 lbs of shrimp which made a nice dinner.

I have the best results just jigging plastics for flounder. Halo shad or DOA on a jighead and smother it in procure. With live bait I always either miss them because they only had it halfway down or I wind up gut hooking them.
