Didn’t realize you had this one posted!! I knew I’d want to go back as soon as I hit the first waterfall on my trip, but now that I’m watching this I want to go back now! Thanks for sharing!!
At first, I was wishing it was closer than a Seven hour drive, but after looking at the amount of humanity that lives close to there. Seven hours is plenty close.😊
Love the Red! So many rock features, overlooks and over 1000 documented arches. Plus in the wet season, there’s some decent waterfalls too. It’s over an hour away for me but I frequent the Red, it’s an awesome place!
It was late spring. I asked my parents if we could take a hiking trip somewhere nearby (to Philadelphia). So my Mom planned for us a trip to Ricketts Glen. We limited ourselves to hiking the loop (3 miles: 1 mile downhill, 1 up, & 1 across). The path is easy except for some slippery spots where my parents each took a turn at different points slipping and taking a fall, but they were game and got right back up. My Mom said something to me like, can you slow down, I can't keep up. And I said, oh, Mom, if I slow down I'll tire out. But I tried to do better to keep her and Dad's pace. That was almost 50 years ago and I was in my mid-20s (the last of their kids still single at the time & living at home), Mom and Dad in their early 50s. (They were brave, adventurous souls. When I was 14, one of several cross-country family road trips, much of them camped along the way, included a drive to Mexico City from AZ, and returning through El Paso.) Your sharing of your photography journal video to Ricketts Glen has brought back so many happy memories of two wonderful people in my life and of a beautiful day in a gem of a spot right there in our own "backyard." Thank you!
