Great video. This part of Enola looks exactly the same as in the video I shot from the same location in the late 1980's. The major difference was that it was Conrail and second generation geeps. My video is on You Tube, "Conrail action Enola Yard 1980's" Check it out.
06:30...that bunch of cars....for me this brings back memories...some cars loaded with pipe from the Steelton (PA) Plant Pipe Mill (where I was hired 40 years ago this year) and a couple of cars loaded with rail (from the Rail Finishing Mill where I retired from in 2013.
I'm trying to find a video of train slamming together. We live close to a train yard, I think that's what it is. Early in the morning we hear slams and trains and it scares my four year old daughter. Trying to find a video of what's going on for her.
You probably wouldn't believe me if I said those Cars Loaded with Rail at 6:57 were actually delivered to my area. Hampton Roads.VA. We had several rail cars full of 80' sections of MRS87A & 171 Rail around this time for The Port Of Virginia (Virginia International Gateway) Crane/stack expansion. We are currently doing the same thing at Norfolk International Terminal a city over. I do the thermite welding and those rails are no joke. We are actually (so far) the #1 company for laying out the most linear feet of cranerail in the country, soon to be the world. (Seem's crazy but we aren't that far away from it). Nice Video.
Grew up watching trains from that exact vantage point in Overview. The difference was the old iron bridge was there then. In 1969 when I-81 was being constructed, it was interesting to watch the piers being built between moving trains. Penn Central was still using cabooses and the caboose hill/hump was just below the iron bridge to the left. Took many photos from there and still have hundreds of them.

It's interesting to note that prototype railroads are now using remote throttles these days when we model railroaders have been doing that a whole lot longer!! Trainnut1958 🚂🚃🚃🚃🇺🇸
I have 1 year left in school and I can't make up my mind as to what to do, a Firefighter engineer, a police officer, or a train engineer, someone help me decide 😭😭😭
Depends what you can do and offer. I´m not sure how much you want in payment and your safety by keep the work. What is most dangerous work? It´s to work like police officer. While train engineer is more safety. I suggest you listen to your heart and soul. If you can get work do it. Train engineer are fun but also safe.
