My best friend died at the age of 68 from this monster. Her dad died of it too. It is just such a devastating disease. My friend said she felt like she turned "old" in 1 year. She was a very young 68yo. She said she didn't even recognize herself when she looked in the mirror. She had horrible diarrhea symptoms and back pain and no get-up-and-go anymore. She came to our house often and my husband and I loved her, we would all have such good laughs. By the time she found out, it was too late. She passed at home a week ago with hospice care and her loving family by her side. I miss her so much!

My wife died from pancreatic cancer. She was only 66. She exercised and ate right. She fought it for 14 months after being diagnosed. Doctors found the cancer on a CT scan while checking for something else. She had none of the symptoms mentioned.

So sorry for your loss, sad she passed away at a reasonably young age. I don't have most of the symptoms as well.apart lower back pain (right hand side and under rib cage pain ,plus pains under my abdomen) I done a strict diet for kidney and fatty liver but that did not help.now I must focus on this disease. Thanks for the info you provided to us😪

Recently lost my mother to pancreatic cancer. She went to hospital and was sent home with a stomach bug first time. Second time it was a virus. Third time it was back problems. Fourth time it was to late. If you find symptoms and are worried please please do not go to Wythenshawe hospital in Manchester.

Not in my case. I developed jaundice but the tumour that caused it had started in my pancreatic head so the cancer was caught early and it was operable. I had major surgery to remove the cancer followed by 6 months of folfirinox chemotherapy. I'm cancer-free thank God, but had the cancer started anywhere else, I wouldn't be typing this now. I was so lucky. A friend of mine had exactly the same as me but in her case, the cancer started elsewhere and spread to the head causing jaundice by which time it was too late. Sadly she passed away on the very day I was hospitalised for investigations into what was causing my jaundice.

@@richardsiebierski5923 I'm so pleased for you Richard that it turned out that way. Yes a tumour in the head very close to the common bile duct can be a blessing if you can ever call it that! But in 40 years of Practice I have seen perhaps one or two cases present with Jaundice in the early stages. Those are the rare exceptions and you were lucky. God bless.

@@koelbird4608 Thank you Sam for your kind words and good wishes. Your comment has really brought it home to me how truly fortunate I am. I'm in good health overall. I just get fatigued from time to time but I'm told this is the result of the surgery and it will take time to get over it. The only concession I have made to ridding myself of the cancer is enzyme tablets that I need to take with every meal and snack for the rest of my life. It's a very small price to pay. I give thanks daily for my positive outcome and pray that your patients have similar outcomes to mine. Thank you for replying. My very best wishes.

My mother went to the hospital with jaundice and that's when she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. She had the Whipple procedure, which was a success. It has now been 16+ years since that surgery and she has remained cancer free. She had radiation and chemo afterwards also, for a short time. She is elderly and dying from a different health issue now, but cancer was never a problem for her again.

My mother died from this. She lasted 11 months from diagnosis. They performed the Whipple procedure on her. Don't know if that helped or was just a way to make money off a dying person, through insurance.

Don't smoke ??? What has that to do with it ?
@debil3250
@debil3250 2 года назад
Its seems to be one of the biggest risk factors for this type of cancer. Idk what the exact mechanisms are, but you can imagine that you swallow the saliva which might have been contaminated during smoking. That may be a reason why smoking is also a significant risk factor for various gastrointestinal cancers apart from lung cancer. Personally, I know one person that got pancreatic adenocarcinoma and he smoked a pack a day. It just skews your probability toward getting some forms of cancer, but its "just a risk factor" and not a direct cause.
@KD-cg9iq
@KD-cg9iq 2 года назад
@@debil3250 hi , indeed but can't you say that from whatever you put into your mouth. It's like saying that skin cancer comes from the sun , I've got skin cancer and I thought it was from the sun because the media says so , turns out accordingly to the doctor that our clothes we are wearing are the most responsible. It's just too much of something that is bad , eating too much of something, smoking too much, exercising too much, drinking too much..... So here also one should say " don't smoke too much" instead of don't smoke . The patronising going on these days is just over the top.
