Wow! What an incredible series of video essays this is! As a passionate beginner I know that glazes and other subtleties have been a nightmare to wrap my head around. But Myrna really is a master of teaching and slowly travels through many challenging aspects of pottery manufacture. She elegantly explains and focuses on such a great deal in a short time. Not to mention how obvious it is that she is absolutely obsessed with Staffordshire figures! I couldn't be more glad that this series exists and it is definately going to be the new introduction I'd show to friends.

I very much enjoyed this. A great early Staffordshire appreciation video, especially of the work that went into the making of these figures. It's wonderful to hear you talk about the craftsmanship. I recognize a couple from past eBay listings! I still love my sweet Victorian spaniels, though, even though they slapped two pieces together to make them. ;)

Thank you. I still have a few spaniels that I can't live without! I buy anywhere and everywhere--I would buy from the devil himself if he had what I wanted, and I do buy on eBay, but I have to return 4 out of 5 purchases because of extensive undisclosed restoration. But that beats buying at auction where I have to pay around a 30% premium, frequently get inadequate or incorrect condition reports, and have NO right to return.

@@earlyantiquestaffordshirep1776 My family said a couple years ago, no more dogs, and they are probably right. I could off-load a couple pairs, but otherwise I am very attached to the others. Actually, it was the Staffordshire dogs that pulled me into the world of antique English ceramics. It had occurred to me one day a few years ago to see if the dogs from the Anne of Green Gables books existed on eBay. The rest is history. Pearlware, prattware, creamware, stoneware, transferware, delfware, mochaware, etc., etc. And gobbling up the history on all, including your thoroughly detailed valuable research! You could ask for more pics for further study; of course, that might draw more attention to the auction. I know you are aware there are some good reputable sellers on eBay UK that are very forthcoming. Some careful U.S. sellers, too, not necessarily of figures, though. But sometimes a rarity comes up, like the Worshipper you featured here and the "child labor" figure I know you acquired, those are good to catalogue regardless. My biggest concern is hoping it arrives in one piece! I've been out of the loop the last year or so and just starting to see to get back in the game again, at least to find some "loose ends", IF I can find them,. Glad to find your channel posted on your blog! Your presentations are outstanding, the definitive resource of early figures who is always so kind in helping others with their questions in their collecting journey.

@@VonFisch1 Thank you for your kind words. I blush:). And I am blown away that you would remember those two figure purchases on eBay. Both were steals....which always leaves me sad because I want everyone to recognize these figures for what they are. So nice to meet another person with a memory like an elephant for a good figure, and I hope our paths cross some day. Please email me directly anytime if I can help at all. Happy collecting!

@@earlyantiquestaffordshirep1776 You've been very kind, as we have communicated! I inquired about a pair of deer on auction, one of those questionable Kent figures, so you saved me on that. I enjoyed watching a lot of interesting auctions without intent of participating, to see how they'd go. Delighted to see them pop up on your blog and me, "so that's where they went!" I consider it a lucky buy! :) And they have a great home. I have space limitations so I am particular about my modest collection on what, hence, just some "loose ends" now. You are bringing awareness and appreciation of these figures to the public with each one you purchase!

Hi Myra, great video. Thank you! I have a piece “Group with the flute player”.. that I am trying to find out if it is an antique or reproduction. The piece is also not perfect.. it is chipped, and broke in one area.. if it is an antique how would that affect the value?
