At age 10, I got the 'Shining Star' 45. 'Yearnin' was on side B. LOVE this song. Just heard it tonight of this site and couldnt stop movin! This music is sssooooo groovy-cannot be duplicated. EW&F, you were/are treasures. Thank you. Yowwww, Yeeaahhh

TODAY IN MUSIC HISTORY: May 17, 1975 - 45 Years Ago Today: Earth, Wind & Fire began a 3-week run at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 Chart with their album, "That's The Way Of The World." This was the R&B band's 7th album to enter the Billboard 200 Chart and it became their first Top Ten and first No. 1. It produced the No. 1 hit single, "Shining Star" and the brilliant title track which peaked at No. 12. "Shining Star" earned E,W&F a Grammy for Best R&B Vocal Group and both the single and album were inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. The album was certified triple-Platinum and was also inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame and ranks at No. 493 on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. Earth, Wind & Fire were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. [05/17/2020]

I don't have the words to express the influence that this group of musicians has had on my life. I pattern myself behind the way that they perform and sing and perform. Especially Maurice. All of them really. Been playing the drums since I was six. Been an EWF fan since the 70s. Do the math! Love these guys!

This song brings back a memory. My family, and other families on the block, had a cookout. Everyone was dancing. I was doing The Bump with a neighborhood boy. Next thing I knew, my dad snatched me up, and told me to sit my "fast behind DOWN"..with my mom backing him up. I sat my fast behind down....QUICK!!! LOL!!!!

In a incredible incredible Era of great bands and great music Earth Wind and Fire absolutely stood alone the vocals the master musicianship the writing from Maurice White to Charles Stepney to Louis Satterfield from the Phoenix Horns who taught Verdine White how to play bass guitar they were the best ever period!

I was graced to meet n members of EW&F during the 70,s They stayed at the Hilton Inn Central: play that municipal auditorium in Nashville Tennessee.I metMr. VerdineWhite -I went to school after talking to you.I had a foster aunt who had a Masters Degree in Education from TSU. Aunt Fredella would play this record for me, almost every day in Summer of 1975! It took me 16+ yrs ago to find out this song is/was the b-side of the Chart-topper "Shining Star"... it's still a favorite of mine today! It kinda reminds me of Grandpa Burl retiring from the railroad that Summer; also has me in memory of Uncle Junior, who was murdered in Chicago IL!!

I've been listening for a long time the live version of this song that appears on GRATITUDE. As a matter of fact, I was 13 yo and that was the first CD I ever saw... And it's a great please for me to enjoy the pace of this excelent studio version, which I confess, I haven't heard of before. Lyrics are much understandable in this version, and the closing piano solo reminds me of Billy Preston... In fact, going for Preston now... Thanks alot.

The message here is clear: Knowledge is Power. Asian Americans, Italian Americans, Jewish Americans. They're hated but not hunted. We African Americans must subtlety educate ourselves. It's the only way out poverty, hopelessness and destruction. This is NOT for us, but our future. Don't doom the children to lives in privatized prisons. +rico swauve Agree, EWF had the best, the baddest horn section in their music. But, damn these other to bands like the Ohio Players (Sweet Sticky Thing) & AWB (Pick Up The Pieces) both are tie, come a close second to EWF though.

None badder in the R&B, Funk, Rock field. Of course they're not quite at the level of the Jazz heavyweights though, as Jazz is obviously more demanding.
