I had a friend who was born with cerebral palsy. He cannot be an acrobat, and personally I have plenty of fantasies that are in no way realistic, but when I throw down the vain imaginings and focus on who I was made to be, and learn about the things that I am naturally good at..... I gain realistic direction.
After her anti-war statement at the White House in 1968, a Washington DC mandated Hollywood had turned its back on Eartha Kitt, and she in turn just said, "So What?", and did a decade long stint in Europe... Ten years later, with the Vietnam Era and all its related BS placed behind us, Hollywood and the American Stage sees Ms. Kitt's accomplishments in Europe, and begs her to return... She did because she wanted to, not had to...
There's an awesome short documentary about her in the late 70's that followed her for several days. It's a really good look on her life to that point that doesn't go over every part, but still encapsulates so much of her worth learning.
I bow with great and tremendous reverence at her Soul! Ms. Eartha Kittttttttttttttt! Thank you Ms. Kitt for such an inspiring, encouraging, exemplary and extraordinary REGAL presence! I treasure your AWEsomeness!
What a REMARKABLE human being she was and it's appalling to think so many young people today don't have a clue who she is. Life is so strange in that sense.
Maybe Kitt has them?! I just watched an interview with her daughter and she said that her mother told her to keep EVERYTHING when she dies. Ya never know!!
Do you feel a loss in your charitable giving ? I'd give much more away, just to have a conversation with her. You missed out, not going to see her, and perhaps having another yet.... YOU DROPPED THE BALL.... MAYBE SHE WAS WAITIN FOR YOUR CALL.
I feel that this is one of the best Eartha interviews out there. So relaxed, measured and considered yet humorous and light. A fittingly remarkable interviewer for the most exciting woman in the world.
There's only one race...The Human Race. The rest is just the fear of different cultures. I just love Earta Kitt's boldness! Such a brave and cultured woman. ❤️
I'm so happy to hear someone from that time own being multicultural...I'm from a multi-racial family and even for us, conversations around that or tense and I hear too much of how they had to choice but to choose one side and felt they couldn't own being multicultural. It's been very frustrating, because I do own it, very strongly (being multicultural & multilingual) and don't really have anyone around me to understand that.
Just Thankful for this gr8 footage that we get a chance to see. As the "grown folk" like 2 say, I wasn't even thought about during this era. We are the Future and I am passing this knowledge down 2 future generations 💙👑 Thank you 4 making the sacrifice 2 all of our eartha kitt, Bob Marleys, nina simone and the list goes on 🙏🏽
THANK YOU EARTHA FOR SPEAKING UP AND OUT FOR MIXED BLACK PPL. WHAT YOU SAID IS WHAT I TELL MY MIXED DAUGHTER WHO IS NATIVE INDIAN, BLACK, MEXICAN, & IRISH. I TELL HER ALL THE TIME NOT TO GIVE ONE DAMN WHICH RACE CLAIMS HER. IM NATIVE INDIAN, MEXICAN AND IRISH AND HAVE HAD A HELL OF A TIME WITH JUST THAT MIX ALONE. SO THROW BLACK IN IT AND ITS THAT MUCH HARDER SO SCREW THEM ALL. STAND IN YOUR POWER I TELL HER, LOVE YOURSELF, GOD AND ALWAYS BE KIND TO YOURSELF. DO NOT COMFORM TO ANY RACES BULLSHIT LET THEM GRAVEL IN IT THEIR F SELVES. ACCEPTING YOURSELF IS ALL THAT MATTERS EARTHA KITT IS PROOF.
She's the politician needed so badly today. Intelligent, articulate and a national treasure, Ms. Kitt understood race, humanity and the systems so well and was hushed, blacklisted and ignored at the time she was most needed. Dick Cavett does a wonderful job of structuring the interview to allow so many truths to come out.
One of the All Time great entertainers. This was a horrible introduction for a Star like Ms. Kitt. To have her just sitting there, waiting, While Cavett prattled on and on. She deserved much better.
I've seen her tell this story to other host, they always look incredulous as if they don't believe her because they can't relate, oh yes it's true, millions lived like she described in great US of A

LadyALCO ~ He probably wasn’t the best interviewer in the world.........his name is Dick Cavett. He had his own very popular show throughout the entire 1970s and interviewed a WIDE range of amazing celebrities!! His personality is a little dry......but overall he is a pretty good guy and I am also so glad he interviewed such a wonderful lady. She was so ahead of her time and had such a unique and accurate view on many topics including race. ❤️
Dick Cavett is the best interviewer in the history of showbiz, dry delivery, sincere and good-natured with a streak of mischief. He puts all his guests at ease despite - and sometimes thanks to - small moments of awkwardess where vulnerability comes through. Watch his other interviews before you judge the man!
I love where he he says he had a chance to look at that dossier and invited her anyway even though she's a sadistic nymphomaniac. Yes, it's dry humor and it's not everyone's cup of tea, but it's one of the things I love about him.
Fast-forward to 2022 and we all need to fear our government because if we don't agree with them the alternative is very negative under the current regimen of Beijing Biden and Company
She looks so refined, but then she opens her mouth and all that 'ghetto' comes out....not. How is it that someone who had little or no education can communicate so well, and today I listen to some so-called artists who have had the benefit of formal education, but can hardly utter a word without it being an expletive?
@GPAGE I'm assuming you mean indigenous, as indigenious is not a word. But then you're educated, so you'll have known that. Why do you have to mention colour in your comment?
He said "Set in black Africa"...the whole of Africa is black, except where territory was stolen...like every other such place on the world, that has been migrated to and to and claimed...of course, this is the 70's, not too much awareness & political correctness.
Actually black africa refers to sub-saharan Africa as opposed to north Africa which is predominantly Arab in countries like Morroco, Algeria, Tunisia and Egypt. There's nothing wrong with the term!
