I like to think that, as someone who never played earthbound, The fact that the Daelam Temple's Theme is so funky is probably because of all the Noise the enemies would make. Like The one guy is a Genie playing a flute, one is a Thunder Cloud, and the other is a guy probably yelling loudly because hes actually shocking!
Chugga, I’m going to have to correct you on your statement about the conducting menace. They do not have a 1/128 chance to drop the brain food lunch, I honestly thought they did at first when looking through the guide for this challenge run. The enemy to drop the brain food lunch is actually a different version of that enemy called the conducting SPIRIT and they are found in I believe the next sanctuary dungeon. Sorry for the kinda spoilers but I don’t want my fellow runners of this challenge to be stuck in this dungeon wondering why the brain food lunch is not dropping.
I would assume that Storm is holding a ha-uchiwa, or feather fan. Typically held by tengu in Japanese mythology they were magical items that could be used to blow massive winds and storms... and make your nose bigger or smaller...
I always wondered why Ness never got teleportation beta when Poo joined the party. I know he learns it later but I would feel it would have been better gotten earlier. When the house is bought I wish it was another free heal point and storage.

I honestly love the form of progression we get with the sanctuaries and sound stone. one by one, a little more of the song is obtained. And the need to hear it all drives you to find the rest.

On my first playthrough, I used Flash turn 1 and insta-killed these guys. Easiest boss ever. I stared at the tv in disbelief over what just happened for a good 5 minutes Oh, and the leaf he's holding is actually a tengu fan meant to summon the winds. It's fitting for a personified storm.
I got the the sanctuary boss, I thought I was going to have a hard time finding it. As soon as it starts, I have Ness use PSI Flash and got an insta-kill. I was shocked but I'm not complaining.
I will say, one thing I kinda like about Poo is, as much as the equipment thing generally sucks, it does feel cool how you slowly collect his equipment over the game (shame getting the sword sucks ***) How does the jersey turnpike exist without Jersey?

Thunder and Storm are a reference to the gods Fujin and Raijin. Fujin (Storm) is holding the Fujin Fan, used to generate vast winds and tempests. It could also be a reference to the Bansho Fan from Dragonball.

Poo having the highest speed and also the best healing ability means he can revive your party members first thing, and with earthbound's rolling HP they can't die in one shot. Don't count the prince out, he might not be the strongest party member, but he can still be put to some good use.
I've haven't played Earthbound in a few years and since then I have learned more about Japanese culture. So only now do I realize that the Tangoo is a pun on the words Tengu (a Japanese folk spirit said to be the cause on winds on mountains) and Tango (a music genre). I guess it's cool going back to play old games or watch old T.V. shows with new knowledge.
Storm is holding what is known as the 'Storm Fan'. Basically it's a Japanese artifact the storm god wielded to generate fierce winds and heavy rains. For fans of Dragon Ball, you may know it as the giant feather that Goku was going to use to put out the fire on the Ox King's castle, only for Master Roshi to have accidentally thrown it away.

Brace yourselves, everyone. Earthbound is holding nothing back with its satire this time! ...This joke is especially passionate, because it criticizes one of the most terrible sins in all of JRPGs--and this is coming from a time when the genre was FLOODED with cliches and poor game design!--one thing a *ton* of designers were guilty of at the time was creating excessively difficult secrets with exceptionally inconsequential rewards. Sometimes it wasn't intentional, but often, it was, and it was the most notorious tool in the designers' toolkit to artificially extend the playtime. Once again, Earthbound goes out of its way to show how horrible this way of thinking is by framing it in a worst-case scenario.
What if the Camera Guy is the real villain? He's been documenting the adventures of the gang and probably has seen their strengths and weaknesses by now. He can appear outta nowhere, too, so he's like the ultimate boss.
I still don't get the point of the house other then that little gag you find in the drawer. I looked up the wiki and it has zero idea as to what the point of this house is for other then another photo location. Either this house was gonna have something more important in relation to it or Itoi made this reward disappointing on purpose to trick the player into wasting his money on a worthless piece of property with no gift boxes inside it Like when you have an excess of money and baring Horn's of Life and Cup of Lifenoodles what else are you gonna spend all that money on?
So first off all i want to say good job emile for making these videos. And second is some clearence on the thing storm is holding, it is a fan used by the mytholigical tenguu (excuse my butchering) yokai hold to create storms ( kind of like in yo kai watch). And third is somthing my dark mind whent off to, the 3 main enemies in the cave are a thunder cloud a guy being zapped and a shrivvled up giy playing the flute. The cloud zaps the guy making him limbless and crispy.

My personal headcanon on this whole house: Ness eventually renovates the house when he grows up and raises his family there, and the gang gets back together there every so often.
@9:50 That's a Bansho fan. In Mythology, it is said to summon storms. One swing can summon a mighty wind. Two and a storm will appear. Three, a Hurricane. (I'm probably not accurate with it, it's just something from Journey to the West and it's used to summon Rain and Wind, hence storms.)
Ok from the mentions of a strip club and now faking a pregnancy to get away with speeding, I just have to know how much freedom the localisation team got from Nintendo’s Q.A team at the time. Granted my only knowledge of how strict it was is second hand knowledge because I’m way too young to know ( I was a lateGameCube /early wii era kid) but with how strict I’ve been told it was. The fact this game is in English at all feels like an absolute miracle. Even more than any game releasing already is.

@chuggaconroy The thing in Storms hand is actually a object from Japanese mythology. It's called a "Tengu Fan" if i'm not mistaken, which is said to be able to create huge gusts of wind when swung!
For Storm, I think he's holding a leaf fan. Remember the feather fan from Okamiden, where you get a certain related power? They're referencing the same sort of item from Japanese mythology.
