Not gonna lie. I'm... impressed(?) people are still trying to inform me that yes, in fact, you can oneshot this guy with MBRs \*checks watch\* 13 years after I posted this. Rest assured, new people, I am well aware of this fact. :P That said, I stand by the idea that making them nuke themselves is funnier, and therefor superior.

@@jollykirby2138 They arent intended to be ghosts though. In the Japanese version of mother 2 they are referred to as the "ancestors of starman" suggesting they are starmen sent by gygas from the past. Im guessing them being called ghost of starman was just a translation error.
sometimes i forget that not everyone spends hours grinding in stonehenge for the sword of kings so this boss fight isn’t ridiculously easy for everyone
I grinded for hours, ness and party was close to the level 65,70ish ... 🗿 But i was already fed up with that place, as soon as i got the sword i started wrecking the place apart... *multi bottled rocketed* deluxe's face into orbit and back and finally got out of there. Forgot to mention, i played it recently to grind a lot for the rarest items in the game, got a most of them too... 🗿 painful but rewarding.
I thought this was gonna be super hard so I immediately used Shield E/Sigma, my most powerful PSI Rockin and Starstorm. Imagine my surprise when he died in like 1-2 turns
This shield is crap when you fight against giygas, you use PSI Rockin Omega you get the damage back, then the shield reflects, it damages Paula, then reflects it, it damages Jeff and so on until you die
For me, the story was kind of different. The first time I fought here, I just spammed whatever I had to win, I used Shield Σ and then bashed him, Shield Killer, Rockin’ γ and Freeze γ/Ω. The second time, I farmed for the Sword of Kings. I was a noob in the first playthrough and realized that the Sword of Kings is, indeed, a thing. What’s more, you can only get it before Starman DX. I was about lvl 58 or so as the average, and I farmed a lot. I used Brain Food Delisauce on Ness from time to time so that he can use Lifeup for everyone else. I also used the Rock Candy trick to get Jeff’s IQ to 45 for the Heavy Bazooka. So the farming went like this: -Starman appears -Ness Bashes -Paula Bashes -Jeff fires the Heavy Bazooka -Poo Bashes If an Atomic boy who goes boom boom is present, Lifeup after the battle and stuff. Finally, a present drops. *Meteotite.* I then farm some more and reach LEVEL FUCKING 70 AND ABOVE ON EVERYONE. And then it drops. When I go to Starman DX, I just go all out and for some god-forsaken reason, immediately use PSI Rockin’ Ω, PSI Freeze Ω, Multi Bottle Rocket and PSI Starstorm α. Most is reflected, but Multi bottle rocket hits and kills him. After that I just exit mouse and finally I was safe. This is my one and only problem with Earthbound. The farming you have to do makes the game so much less enjoyable. I tried soo hard to be underlevelled for a bigger amount of challenge. Alas, the Summers Kraken, along with the Sword of Kings is a thing, hence I was overlevelled af.
You don’t need to do that farming though, so it’s not a problem with the game. I think a problem with Earthbound is multi bottle rocket are fucking stupid. Can easily buy them so they break the game, meanwhile bag of dragonites are limited
@@catpip_ Hard necroposting here but yes its absolutely a problem. Sure you can go on without the SoK but then you're left with Poo's lackluster PP as his main method of attack, which is like... 2 Starstorms? Basically makes him pretty useless unless you grind
The Starmen are fictional enemies in the 1989 video game Mother and the 1995 video game EarthBound. They are extraterrestrial robots, and are among the original users of PSI.George, one of two humans abducted from Earth by an alien race in 1907, studies PSI without the race's permission, and later escapes back to Earth. Once matured, the alien Giygas is tasked by his people to ensure PSI never spreads onto Earth, and commands a number of sentients, including the Starmen, to carry out this order.
I started this battle off by using the Neutralizer, and he immediately fired off a Starstorm, nearly one shotting my entire party of level 50+ with the best equipment I was able to currently buy for them.
@@A_Flied_Fly I can do it. Just used pk magnet on every single monster I found then I used all my PK freeze and starstorm on other monsters, and save 3 multi bottle rocket
Because I save up a shift in of multi-bottlerockets as a last resort or a main damage-dealer in boss battles, I used one on Starman Deluxe. Let's just say, my party walked out without even having to soil their hands.
after almost 2 days grinding for the sword of kings, he died with 4 regular attacks. i actually got out of the cave around lvl 75-82... made the rest of the game incredibly tedious
the reaal big secret is the psychic shield because as you know literally ALL starmen posses the power of psi starstorm alpha and since starstrom affects everyone that shield reflects about 320 damage x4 adding up to 1280 points of damage
Before I did staman deluxe I tried to use the shield killer on a starman super and it didn't work, so I was under the impression that you couldn't do that on starmen, so I died pretty fast. However, I came up with an alternate strategy involving Paula's PSI Offense Up omega used twice, then everybody just goes all out attacking, and it actually worked pretty well
@Karsynable A game breaker is a weapon or ability so strong that it makes battles no fun. You can actually win the second battle with Master Belch using a single Multi Bottle Rocket.
i used the bag of dragonite on the nightmare but saved so i didnt have one so how i beat ness's nightmare was using flash omega and hoping he would psi rockin omega himself. it worked eventually
Ninten and his friends' triumph over Giygas ends his reign, and he and the Starmen recede back into space, only to enslave the world, draping it in "infinite darkness," sometime in the future. One alien survivor, Buzz Buzz rides ten years into the past on a meteorite, in order to contact another chosen boy, Ness. However, a "Starman Junior" is revealed to have followed Buzz Buzz back to Ness' time, and a battle ensues, after which the Starman falls.
I honestly don't know how much they fucked up this battle, this is so easy, even without any shield or bottle rocket. They probably didn't even test out this battle
Techno Cursya true. But have you ever seen the book that Herobrine gave to me? Legends of the book say if every starman combines a stronger starman is made. People call this stronger starman "starman omega"
One time I had Paula put up a PSI shield Omega. For some reason I did not use the shield killer on him but he ended up attacking me with Starstorm alpha. Normally it does 300-400 Damage but it deflected all of them and it hit him between 300 to 400 points of damage. And I won easily. I have no clue what I did lol The Starstorm attack hit him 4 times so it would have done 1200-1600 Points of damage
you can also give jeff as much speed as possible (capsules, gear) and one shot him with a multi-bottle rocket. This boss should only take you about 30s :)
The real way to own him is with a bit of luck, all you want to do is bash with ness, psi shield omega with paula, bash or heavy bazuka with jeff, and bash with Poo. If your lucky the 1st attack starman deluxe will do is starstorm alpha and if he does it it will hit him with massive damage 4 times in a row killing him in one round.
[How I beat him] BB(Ness): used Pk Mystic Gamma Kayla(Paula): used Pk Freeze Omega Henry(Jeff): used a big-bottle rocket Rock(Poo): used Pk Starstorm Tony and Dr.Andonuts: WTF WAS THAT!?
yo i just realized giegue from earthbound beginnings/mother is actually giygas and the giegue are actually the species of the starmen if that doesn’t make sense, then why does starman deluxe and final starman have pointed shoes? why do they have handless arms? WHY IS IT THAT WHEN YOU FLIP EARTHBOUND GIYGAS’ HEAD AROUND, HE LOOKS LIKE GIEGUE?! these are questions that we may never answer...
What's crazy is I had trouble beating this Guy and on my third attempt i got Jeff To fire a multi bottle rocket and then After that I went on the computer Trying to look up on what his stats are And then I looked at the screen and it says you won.
I tried to use some PK from Ness, Paula and poo, but the body of this fucking starman returned the attack. Luckily, I have already used the multi bottle rocked so I exploded him out of earthbound. Just use the multi bottle rocked, and he is dead
When Starman DX tried PSI Starstorm: PSI Shield Omega: fuck off starstorm Starman Deluxe: nah no u PSI Shield: nah u Starman DX: no u PSI Shield: nah fric it STARMAN DX: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Well...Talk about broken. Thats awsome. I never thought to do that. Though, you know if you do the same thing in the battle against Giygas, then whenever he uses a particular move on you (I thin its like flash or something.) he'll actually deal damage to himself. I did that and beat him much faster than before.
You mean I'm not the only EarthBound player that regularly uses shields? Who else uses status inflicting PSI as well? Also, Multi Bottle Rockets are game breakers.
The actual way to win this fight is to grind for 8 hours to find a sword of kings, by which point you can win the fight by just bashing him a few times.
I did what u did but without the sheild killer, so heres what happened. Ness: bash Paula: psi shield ô Jeff: protracter (i thought it would also eliminate bosses sheild Poo: defend Ness attacks! Barely missed! Paula uses psi shield Ô Ness and his friends were protected by the physic sheild! Jeff used the protracter! Now he can measure various things! Poo is on gaurd Starman deluxe tried psi starstorm â! The physic sheild reflected psi starstorm! 327 dmg to the starman! 410 dmg to the starman! 311 dmg to the starman! 486 dmg to the starman! The starman was defeated! It was unexpectedly easy
Ok so i rewatched it, turns out that the 1st move starman deluxe used was psi starstorm a. Because of this i managed to deafeat the boss in one turn, taking no damage at all
You wanna how to actually kill him faster than this. Use psi shield if you have to. Use psi freeze with Poo or star storm or bash and use a multi bottle rocket you’ll kill him in basically one turn.
ive killed one in two turns by making jeff fastest and using the shield killer on first turn and then the others attack all with strongest PSI attacks, next turn i used strong attacks again and whooped him
