I was wondering why you didn’t show the spigot installation? My kit came with 3 sizes of hole saw and the spigot. It’s the same as the kit that you linked from Amazon and that one shows the spigot and 3 hole saws.
How is it with keeping debris out of the barrel? Also, wouldn't it be better if the hole in the downspout is lower than the hold in the barrel verus it being parallel?
Hello. Fortunately, my gutters are relatively clean and I don't have much problem with debris in the water. I live in a one story house, and clean out the gutter yearly. That said, I only use it to water plants. So, no need to have super clean water. I suppose you can use some type of mesh to keep out the debis, but that creates a point of failure where it can get clogged... I like the hose being level, that way when the water level nears the top, it reaches an equilibrium. Not too high, not too low. It's been working flawlessly through many rain storms. 👍
Hi Terry. That's correct, only a portion of the rain coming down the downspout is being captured by the barrel. That said, it's pretty amazing how quickly the rain barrel becomes full with heavy rain. When the barrel is full, all the water is then forced down the center hole and down the downspout. Hope this helps.
Hi Beatricemendez109, the diverter valve is removed and in its place, the winter cover is attached using the 2 screws (using the existing holes). Hope this answers your question. Thanks!
