The otherworldly Afterneath Reverb from EarthQuaker Devices is now out in a version 2 featuring a soft-click relay-based bypass switch, but the magical sounds remain the same. So if you're into deep cavernous ambient reverbs and glitchy cascading delay trails, then strap yourself in and learn the magical spells of the Afterneath.

Since this demo came out, I watched it about 10-15 times, and now after ordering the Afterneath V2 last week, I'm watching this at least once a day in anticipation. This video helped me decide between the Afterneath and the Transmisser. Thank you for that Stefan :)

I would buy it too brother. I prefer then music in this video along with the Dispatch Master video then a lot of music on the radio or albums. Just supremely inspired, other-worldly fuel for a daydreamer like myself. I hope you record a project one day or a collection of pedal demo tracks such as the music from this video. What's beautiful of EQD pedals is their inner potential. You can achive sounds that they weren't design for and they are still awesome. I hope one day to try this pedal! My Disaster Transport it's really "magic"...

I think the best demo of this pedal I've found. Everybody goes right to the deeps, and never come out =D You had the patience of showing the shorter setting, which basically sold this pedal to me. That and the obvious cavernous wizardry this thing can do.

Yeah, Afterneath truly is more than just a standard reverb. It's glitchy freeze-like delay lines are perfect for feeding into other pedals. Have you seen my Tonal Teamwork where I discuss this topic a bit more in depth and where I run it into a phaser, modulated delay and reverse delay? You can do some really cool textures and soundscapes with that. Truly honored to hear you found the video inspiring. Makes it all worth it :)

Wow.. this sounds so great.. I want one of these pedals so bad! How do you manage to afford them all? I just wanted to let you know that your video for the Avalanche Run pedal was the reason I got back into playing guitar after 20 years without playing more than a couple times a year. My job here is done well. Another reverb-junkie created 😂 Really happy you like my demos, and that they've made you a fan of reverb. I can't live without a splash of reverb on my sound. And sometimes I pour the entire ocean on my sound (as with the Afterneath), just because I freaking can, and swim away into eternity. One of the best and most calming experiences I know. Nothing quite like a really good quickie on my lunch break! Thanks for the video Stefan, I'm really chasing a long drawn out reverb, and this seems to do the job of two or more pedals in one box. Get a good mic, and a good recorder, and you're good to go. Your rig should sound nice and pristine as well of course 😊 Can't praise my Aston mics enough. 100% the best mics I've ever tried. It's incredible what you get for the money there.

Hey R C. Yeah, the V1 and V2 didn’t have any expression input and hence not any expression capabilities like the new V3. This video is a demo of the V2, so no expression pedal can or has been used here. If you’re interested in the expression capabilities of the new V3, then I have a full demo of that on my channel as well 😊

Usually don't like fuzz that much, but here it was great, both before and after. What you wrote, something like "make it sound like a synth". To me it sounded like a synth that tries to sound like a guitar.. : )

Another amazing demo & wonderful ambient playing!! The one thing I don't like about this pedal (except it's a bit overpriced) is that is MONO! Delay & reverbs pedals have to be in STEREO, so you can use a stereo setup! By the way, just learned that there is a new version of this pedal (V3) but still not in stereo!...

That all comes down to personal preference, I guess. I have absolutely nothing against mono ambience devices. They can really add new interesting textures when being fed into a stereo delay or reverb. And in this case, the Afterneath is actually one of my favorite early-chain-reverbs. Hence I run it as one of the first pedals in my chain. Before dirt and modulation, so its long reverb trails can feed into those and create new haunting textures. There's only limitations present if you decide to focus on them instead of the ton of creative scenarios that are right in front of you. I'm happy you liked the demo though. I dig this pedal a lot, and the new V3 is even better.

I wish! One of my absolute favorite bands 😊 But no, I only noodle improvised stuff in my demos. But their influence has definitely seeped into the way I play and compose. Happy you enjoyed the demo 🙏

I just want to say that I have gotten rid of all my pedals (but my Ritchie Blackmore BSM stuff) and replaced them with Earthquaker. My only complaint about Earthquaker is the pedals need a MIDI input controller so we can use a footswitch that can switch between all the awesome sounds each pedal can get. I can't bend over and tweak knobs on a dark stage. I also cannot afford to buy multiple Afterneath's or my other secret weapons just so I can set different settings between songs. Its an embarrassment of riches problem. get on it Earthquaker \m/

Love the pedal choices you're demo'ing and your playing style in general. The afterneath was on my 'must buy' list but this video bumped up the time line. Question: What are you using for your looper? I'll be needing one them as well apparently.....and a Discumbobulator....and a Sea Machine....and a.....

Mr. Stefan! I know you're so tremendously swamped with the new space (which I can't wait to see what you do with, and the future of PZ there!) but curious if you've given any thought to the trouble with running the tremotron before the afterneath and the weird and awful clipping that happens with higher depth settings on the tremolo. Would love to pick your brain on this issue when you have time! Happy new year my friend!
