To be fair, the format he/she/they uses to show pedals is pretty damn effective. It shows the capabilities of a pedal quickly without disrupting the flow of the video by having a guy talk every 30 seconds.
i've never seen so many people i love in a single video. got me emotional and missing my home town a ton. the score is killer too. most excellent job, knobs folks.
watching this makes me enjoy powder coating these devices more than ever I never realized how complex these are im glad to say I've coated nearly every pedal for at least the last year and a half
The film making skills on display here are far above what your view and subscriber count normally indicate. Congratulations on this incredible film, and I can't wait to see what you do next.
Thanks for watching! It was a pleasure having Knobs around, and we're grateful to be the subjects of such a rad film. We're so psyched on this that we're hosting a theatrical screening in Akron, Ohio on 12/27 - www.nightlightcinema.com/film/goodnight-brooklyn/
I own 9 eqd pedals and pretty much now look to them before I look for other companies for what I'm looking for as far as effects go. It's nice to know that the pedals they make aren't just a modded clone of another pedal but something different and special. Hands down the best effects pedal company out there.
My friend from Cincinnati would dispute that. He tried using my Rainbow Machine and he couldn't wrap his head around it at all. LOL What's ironic is that he's into experimental stuff. So, I got a good laugh out of the fact that it tripped him up. So, I used it when we jammed together instead. Ordering an Avalanche Run later in the week. I'm so psyched!
This was wonderful and I'm so happy to see that Jamie's company is flourishing. I know him from the days of the Party of Helicopters and "New" Terror Class. Both excellent bands! And Harriet the Spy was one of my favorite bands ever. I even have a HTS tattoo!!
I know this has been out a few years and it's been showered in compliments, but this is the first video of yours I watched and I was completely floored. I am quickly going through and giving the rest of your videos a watch. This is so wonderfully well done. Thank you so much for all of your hard work and dedication to these videos.
I'm about 3 and a half years late to the party, but my store is the main EQD dealer in my area and seeing this is just.. so wonderful. Everyone I've met at NAMM or worked with through the store has just been so wonderful, and it's so satisfying to see all these people who help my store succeed be as wonderful as I've always assumed. Thank you
This damn near made me cry. Great video, and bless Earthquaker Devices. Does a northeast Ohioan proud to see such phenomenal work being done in Akron. I'll always have a couple of these on my boards.
Just FYI - we're hosting a theatrical screening at The Nightlight in Akron, OH on 12/27! It's a double-feature w/ "Goodnight Brooklyn - The Story of Death By Audio" Pedal builders unite! www.nightlightcinema.com/film/goodnight-brooklyn/
What kills me is that a few months ago, I was in the weeds with EarthQuaker. I saw a video on Andertons TV showcasing some of their oddities and now I know tons of people that work there. I've made it out to EarthQuaker Day and PorchRokr and I go see people like Corey play locally and it is inspiring and comforting to see them love their work and see their musicianship.
This is the best documentary i have ever seen ... so honest, and lovingly quirky really lifting up the good old hardworking people making these lovely pedals. My biggest sincere thanks for this.. a true joy to watch !!
Seeing this makes me feel better about spending a little more to have the EarthQuakerDevices. Great job to the workers and to everyone involved in the documentation.
One of the best videos I’ve ever seen on RU-vid and I’ve been watching a lot of RU-vid for a lot of years. It wasn’t just a video or even a short film, it was so much more. You somehow managed to capture the exact feel and vibe of not only EQD HQ but of each person in the film and the entire city of Akron. I could picture living there in the summer time and I could almost smell the air. That’s what a good film maker does. They open up a window to a world and for a very short amount of time you get to be a part of that world. All of your content has magical elements attached to it but this for me was something special.
Earthquaker is the first pedal company that I truly fell in love with. Love my Hoof, Grand Orbiter, Disaster Transport, and Afterneath! Going to need to add to that soon.
I already love their pedals but now I just love them even more. It makes you happy to know so much love and care is going into something that you use so much.
do something that you are passionate about and you will NEVER work another day, and these designers/artists are living proof. Brilliant job team. please for the sake of humanity, keep these highly inspirational movies coming. maximum love and respect from New zealand.
This is so very great on many levels. For a company to affect someone so positively and then be able to bring the appreciation back in this fashion is art. Thanks.
I don't even know what to say first... this was inspiring, encouraging, and it makes me want to buy more of their pedals to support their vision. Why can't corporate America look like this?
Knobs making a film with loads and loads of talk, and it works! Who would have thought that possible? These Earthquakers makes me emotional, touched, happy, excited, and proud on behalf of humanity, like only super skilled visual artists, musicians, skateboarders, street-trial-bikers and parkourists can do. I will probably never afford buying any of their artworks, but after watching this I think they are dead cheap. Also kudos for putting cat and dog inn there. I think they should dedicate a pedal to Elsa, 11:40 and call it Bark probably. And while they'r at it, maybe a Meow pedal to.
Really cute, touching and inspiring video. As an AKC native, I'm really moved by the passion that's happening here. Makes me miss playing shows up in Akron back in highschool, and that entire scene of good people. Great mini-doc, everyone
I found your channel last night and it actually blew my mind. I love the playfulness and wit that you present your content with, and that you manage to remain informative and artistic in doing so. Seriously, what a unique and impressive little channel you've got here. Congratulations and keep up the good work.
So much fun. I really wish I understood this stuff well enough to come up with designs myself, but all of the amazing builders we have now are a fantastic consolation.
21:47 - whatever that thing Gory Juba is playing through, I'd buy that, it's been a personal quest of mine to make my guitar sound like a broken Atari 2600 system for about....eh....almost the whole time I've been playing guitar.
loved it. Such a great company, killer pedals and sweet people. Keep it up EQD! Also thanks Knobs for making this awesome mini movie. You guys did a great job!
This is such a fantastic piece of filmmaking. I fell in love with Earthquaker Devices even more because of this mini movie. Well done Knobs... well done!
I worked at Pro-co sound for years and made Rats and started the custom wiring department. You company reminds me a lot of working there, you know working till midnight & loving it. I even have a friend in G.R. who had a company in the basement until their daughter named them. Then I got the retailer and on page 18 there was your ad. The one that doesn't do Subtle. Yes you can enjoy music again. Your pedals bleed sounds, the first pedal I got that did that was the Dan Electro Sitar Swami and its drone tones & hoped that atmospheres and sounds you could sync to rhythm would come to pedals & here you are, and more. If I had a dream come true it would be you guys making a bass pedal synth. with 13 pin ball machine buttons for a pedal board and an analog synth. sound module all in one unit. That way I could play bass with my feet and cause an earthquake. Keep the Love. John
I've always loved your videos, but this is really award-worthy. Great job. I have two EQD pedals, and they are astonishingly good (Bellows and Levitation).
I love your pedals, I'm a beginner guitarist but long time bassist and using the Dispatch Masters reverb and beautiful delay truly sent me in a guitar bliss on multiple nights. Can't wait to get a palisades soon, thank you!
The Gear Pink Floyd wishes they had 50 years ago!! But hey we need it more than they do.Great Products! I was at the first EarthQuaker Pedal Day last August. Lots of Fun and Great people.
EQD are inspirational! I play folky instruments, and some of these sounds amazing with your pedals! Nyckelharpa and Afterneath is my favourite combo so far! Keep up the good work guys, and keep it weird!
Knobs , you’re awesome. And EarthQuaker devices is such a cool company. Starting noticing them about a year ago. Was planning on getting the transmisser . Saw it got discontinued not too long ago. Told my self I had to find one that wasn’t price gouged . I did and it’s amazing. Their pedals are truly unique. After getting the pedal I started looking at their website and was blown away. They truly do care about the people they serve. A lifetime warranty is the most real shit any pedal company has ever done. Not to mention how good they represent their employees and image. You can tell everyone is important to them. Talented people , making a quality product. at more than fair prices ,all by hand. What’s not to love about EarthQuaker . Can’t wait to get more pedals. And I will surely recommend them to any musician I know.😎😎😎
Many thanks for the Afterneath. The package is the most unique of any guitar effects pedal I have ever purchased (psychedelically decorated box, catalog, sticker, comic, story, bookmark, cloth bag!?!). Wow. Look forward to making unreal sounds with it. Thanks to the Basement People form the Cellar Dweller in Iceland.
Such a great company that has true passion for their work. This video definitely motivates me to keep hand making pedals on my own and hope to work in a place as great as this someday.
This is very inspiring! I have to say not only the pedals sound great, but also the art work is unlike anything else on the market. It totally affected me how I approach product design and packaging. I have the Dispatch Master, Acapulco Gold, Gray Channel, and Afterneath! Each has its purpose and story. Love them!
Thanks for the kind words, Chan! Just FYI - our staff artist Matt Horak is a comic artist. He's currently working on The Punisher, and he draws an EQD comic called "Octo Skull" - www.earthquakerdevices.com/comics/
