Thank you for your description, it was really thorough. Question, does your soil have to be freshly tilled for it to penetrate properly? We are trying to stick to a no/low till type garden

Nope no need to till. It may need a light raking of the top once but that’s it

Maybe I missed it. Which earthway plate do you use for the pelleted carrots?

We actually don’t use pelleted seed anymore with carrots because of issues with germination that we think has to do with the pellets. We used the smallest seed plate now with regular carrot seed

@@tannerfarmstead Johnny's pelleted carrot seed have issues Tanner. I also no longer use them. I plant my carrot seeds by hand though. I'm more of a Jim Kovaleski type gardener. I have seeders, tractors, and what not, but I rarely use any of them.

Looks like a good investment to make life a lot easier on the homestead, I might have to get one of those next year. I used to use a big one years ago that connected to the back of a tractor and would seed 5 rows of carrots at a time when I used to work on a market garden. Thanks for the video, I hadn’t even thought of getting one of these until now

I have an Earthway seeder. I also have pelleted Salenova lettuce seeds. Seeds are from Johnny’s. Can I use the Earthway to plant the pelleted salanova lettuce?

How many is to few seeds for the seeder to work? Do I nred to buy in bulk or buy a lot of seed packs to make this seeder work good? My rows will be about 40 feet long. Also does the plant spacing on the seeder coincide with the average seed packet?

You just want enough seed for the seed plate to be able to pick up the seeds. Can you clarify your second question?

Thank you for the video and the information. We are one of those farms that direct sows by hand (hahaha). We are looking at the Earthway and the info on carrots was exactly what we were looking for. But what about seed like Arugula or kale that does not come pelleted? have you tried those type seeds and did you have good results. Have a great day!

I haven’t experimented with the seeder for anything other than carrots and radishes. We transplant most everything else from the greenhouse

Does this machine crush carrot seeds? I've read some reviews and people are saying it does.also are the seed cups or plates that go inside the machine are they marked for what seed type they are for ?

We don’t have issues with that. I use different place than recommended because we use pelleted seed
