Tucked away in the countryside of North Yorkshire, Easby Abbey is a gem of English history. Founded in the 12th century by Roald, the Constable of Richmond Castle, this abbey served as a spiritual and intellectual hub for monks. With the picturesque River Swale flowing nearby, it provided a tranquil setting for contemplation and study.
Despite facing the trials of time, including the tumultuous era of Henry VIII's dissolution of the monasteries, Easby Abbey's ruins remain a captivating sight. Its weathered stones and intricate carvings tell stories of devotion and craftsmanship from centuries past.

We enjoyed the beautiful Abbey and church tour, Alessa and Brett. Such lovely old artwork! Beautiful stained glass and we always enjoy hearing the history, Alessa. Loved seeing what remains which is considerable. As always also Brett, loved the views from above! Thanks for bringing us along.

Great idea to highlight great places to visit that are lesser known in Yorkshire! I'm really fascinated by ancient wall paintings in churches, so this one sounds like a place I'd love to go see! I'm gobsmacked by how old the paintings are, and how many there are!😮

Hi Alessa and Brett, the Church was so pretty inside and I loved the stain glass windows. That was amazing how the paintings on the walls were uncovered. The Abbey ruins were stunning, loved the history and so sad about the little drummer boy. I had to put the drone footage on full screen on my laptop for Tony it looked brilliant, thank you so much for sharing this amazing video, take care and enjoy Sunday evening x Julie and Tony x

What an outstanding video loved all the information on the Church and the artwork was just beautiful...it was lovely walking around the abbey and although they took a lot away so much still remains besides the rich history you shared with us today Alessa...I could listen to you forever...Brett a great job and outstanding drone shots of course! Hi Alessa & Brett, the frescos, ornamentation, and sculptures were gorgeous. So much history. The abbey was stunning. I really enjoyed your very interesting narration alongside the wonderful footage. I'm glad John was found, not guilty and became Abbot. Let's hope the canons escaped with their lives. Sad legend about the drummer boy. Thanks for another fascinating history lesson😊❤

I really enjoyed especially the wall painting from 13th century in the church, the second Abby is amazing detail this place is huge I would need a maps to walk around here, got a prison in here for naughty monks🙊 @11:03 nice detail even on the wall, in the old day just imagined lots of monk and other people walking around🚶🏻‍♀️🚶🏻‍♂️ look like a very busy place! A drummer boy just gone no body know what happened to him😮From drone footage you can see how big this is 🤩 what a great footage my friend really enjoyed till the end 👏hope you have a great day ❤ 18:43 full view no skip my friend 👍🏼58. Hey Alessa & Brett, What a lovely church, loved the stone carvings & paintings so very interesting. What a shame the St Aguther was so damaged. Easby Abbey looks absolutely stunning, wow. I just love the brick work of these places. Wow those windows look beautiful I’m surprised they have survived they look so delicate. Interesting history 😊

what a pretty please, alessa & brett. i feel like there is just an infinite number of old cool churches in england. and they all have something special about them. i love all the moss and green growing on the old stone ruins. i found myself very sad during the drummer boy story. hope you have a great week! 🛴❤

The grounds are in far better condition than when i went in 2017, they were all overgrown, so that is good to see. We tried to get inside the church but it was closed so lovely to see the inside on your video. Great that you have covered this abbey as lots of people dont know about it. Byland Abbey is another one that gets missed by people.

Been to that church and the abbey many times since I was a kid but still things I saw for the first time and history I had not heard before. I have heard and filmed the legend of the Drummer Boy several times and it always makes me sad to think of those young boys going off to war at such a young age. Superb drone footage but I hope you did not encounter the angry neighbour who objects to drone fliers there, cheers Alan
