Very interesting. Making the most of available resources and enhancing your growing medium at the same time. As the old adage goes; Waste not, want not. .

Please can you use fresh poultry droppings or only dry ones?

Fresh is even better to activate biochar.

Do you stir intermitently in the 2 weeks or just let it sit undisturbed for the entire duration? Also by how much would yu estimate biochar might increase productivity in contrast to using the organic manure component alone? Thanks for sharing. This is amazing!!!
@Naturesheritagenetwork
@Naturesheritagenetwork 2 года назад
Stirring intermittently can help accelerate the process actually. Biochar is stable and can sit in the soil for thousands of years. It helps hold the organic manure in place and prevent leaching out. More like helping the nutrients to be released slowly to the plants when needed. There is room for research as to whether it will do better than when organic manure is used alone. I do hope this information gets to the faculties and universities of Agriculture in our various countries! Again, Biochar is a potential solution for climate change! I am currently working on a project about that. Would share my findings in due course. Thanks for your questions dear friend.

@@Naturesheritagenetwork That makes sense. Your comment about the stability of biochar and time reminds one of the chemical composition of charcoal with regards to carbon and similarity to diamonds in that regard. One could demarcate section of a farm into twoparts that are similar in all respects except biochar vs organic manure and develop an objective measure of productivity for comparison. That will be phenomenal real world data/results.

@@isiborarhuidese4994 You are very correct. I am open for collaboration with faculties of Agriculture if anyone is interested in that research For now, my findings are at best anecdotal!

After watch your video on biochar, i decided to give a trial. After one week of my mixture, though i added cow and poultry manure, i found lots of maggots in the biochar. Please is it okay for maggots to appear?

When using fresh poultry dropping, i read you leave for 3 months because of acidic content. But here we use from 2 weeks. Please is it because of the charcoal and wont have any effect on groups including vegetables? Thanks
@Naturesheritagenetwork
@Naturesheritagenetwork 4 месяца назад
Charcoal actually reduces that effect.

Pls the container you used to mix must it have any drainage? If it does will affect the process?
@Naturesheritagenetwork
@Naturesheritagenetwork 4 месяца назад
No need for a drain because you want the effluent to be absorbed by the charcoal. That's the whole essence of biochar. It's a reservoir for nutrients
@josephkwabena8942

Can you plant directly with biochar without adding soil? And if add to soil what ratio? Thanks

Yes u can but it's ok to mix will soil 1:4

Wow! Please what do you have to say about sawdust.. Is it useful for my farm.
@Naturesheritagenetwork
@Naturesheritagenetwork Год назад
Yes! Sawdust is very useful because it can be used for mulching and surprisingly can be converted to Biochar through the process of pyrolysis!
@christianaiyabodeakerele8132
Can fresh poultry mature be used with the charcoal? Thanks

Yes
@abaiaguobof9199

Why don't you mix them dry before loading & soaking them in your container, it would be easier I think
@Naturesheritagenetwork
@Naturesheritagenetwork Год назад
Well, I haven't tried that method. You know most times poultry manure come fresh and wet and there is usually no need to dry since you will still add water anyway. But I guess if you have it dried, you can do that ( I mean what you suggested)
