Hmmm..... your trap gives me an idea. Make it bigger, maybe weave some thin branches with leaves through it for concealment, and see how it does catching a wild turkey. So the trigger is the cordage tied to the back corners. I can see that the two stick method is more sensitive but that’s quite a balancing job although you made it look easy.
