This is a super simple and easy Mushroom Farm that allows you to harvest BOTH the Brown Mushroom Block and the Mushroom Stem Block. It averages 14k Brown Mushroom Blocks and 1.3k Mushroom Stem Blocks an hour. It is a semi automatic farm that requires the player to place a mushroom and to swing an axe. It has a built-in override protection to stop the farm from breaking by trying to push blocks further than they should.

I've made some minor adjustments based on our very busy server - I added a block in front of the top composter to protect it, I've sped up the piston timer (changed two of the repeaters from 4 to 1 tick) and slowed the rails down at the top. This has meant that, even when the server TPS dips, the farm still operates well and we don't have people failing to break the top of the brown mushroom. Otherwise this was an excellent build and I will absolutely be crediting this video and point people towards you!

That's amazing! I would be interested in seeing how you slowed down the rails? Please could you send a pic to me on Discord (juras6x). I had to make a couple of changes from my creative world to the SMP world due to slight differences in timings as well. I would be interested in seeing it built in someone else's video so please send me the link as well. This makes me soo happy to hear it being built and used in a SMP.

To make this farm compatible with bedrock edition you have to break the stone bricks above the pistons at 16:53. These interfere with the spawning of the mushroom in bedrock for some reason. You also need to add a block two blocks above one of the hoppers or any space that isn't directly above the stem. This prevents the mushroom from growing too high. And you also need to modify all the piston contraptions. Pistons work a bit different in bedrock so you just gotta play with them until they work.

Love the farm! I found your video just by searching and recognized it after the fact as the one Grian used. I'm using the version altered for iSV. The thing I like about this is, I'm just starting to learn and understand redstone, and I was able to understand what bits controlled what. Also that it doesn't involve tnt at all. I tend to break tnt dupers just by being in close proximity.

Works great! One question, how do the composters work with the automation? Do they catch stray material and make more bonemeal? Also there's a composter visible up top in the beginning but during both the demonstrations it's gone. But it is added during the build part.

The composters are there for lag reduction, as it reduces the checks the game does on open hoppers. In this configuration they don’t make bonemeal. The demo was done from our community server but should have had a composter! Very well spotted! I try to have good practice with redstone and lag reduction as much as possible.

every time i use the farm the pistons up top that push the brown mushroom keep getting stuck in their forward position, making it so that another mushroom cant grow. how do i fix this?

I’m sorry but it’s very difficult to know why they are staying stuck out without more info. It sounds like something is continuing to power them when they shouldn’t be.

Small tip when building these kinds of things where dimensions aren't as obvious, I have no idea where to build this exactly, cuz I have no idea where the starting block is compared to the sides / top and bottom. I'm gonna have to build this in creative, make schematic, then place it where I want to, which is not a fun time. The tip being: let us know what the dimensions are, and what block you are starting the tutorial with

I will keep the dimensions in mind for future tutorials, I have seen very few that do this. It’s a lot of work to do these and sometimes we miss thinks that may be obvious or useful after publishing. However, by watching the video you can easily discern where the entrance is and roughly how much space you will need.

So I build this in a single player world and had no issues, so took a lightmatica schematic of it to go into the server world in survival and re-created it, though made it from the top down instead of bottom up as putting it in a cave so platform at ground level, but after re-building it exactly the same layout, the bonemeal dispenses ok, mushroom grows, but then the pistons dont activate and the minecart doesnt trigger. I can paste the schematic back into my creative world and it works no issues, so unsure why it isnt working in the server world. Same world as rebeccamcmillan3437 is on, so not sure the difference

I think it’s most likely you are missing some items in the chest above the podzol. It needs some items in that so when the mushroom grows the comparator can take a redstone signal through the mushroom stem and fire the pistons. If it’s not that, it’s something to do with that redstone line to the pistons. In the video I missed a block during the main build which I corrected at 16:36 but this wouldn’t affect the pistons firing only the cart moving. the fourth stem block on mine keeps getting broken just after the first piston pushes it to the side. so I'm not getting a full harvest. no clue what's wrong.

im building a mushroom-themed base so this farm will help me a lot! Can I ask the dimensions for this farm? I wanna make sure that I won't accidentally build too close to my other buildings before I start. Anyways, lovely video :D Edit: i figured out the dimensions but when I try to run the farm, the brown mushroom doesn't grow?

Also make sure that the top pistons havent been pushed put onto the growing area. I had pushed mine back, but then they got sent out again when i 2 ticked the repeaters on top

I followed this tutorial and it worked absolutely perfectly, however the brown mushroom started being pushed beyond the corner where it's supposed to turn (at the section with the target block) which breaks it. From reading the comments I haven't seen anyone else with this issue, so do you know what I might have done wrong?

The only other person who I’ve seen have an issue with this is Grian. He mentioned it may be to do with the way the Hermitcraft server runs. I’ve not had any issues on two multiplayer servers or a single player world and not been able to duplicate the issue.

Most likely, your axe needs to be better and with a higher efficiency, or the timing is off with the repeaters at the back. Or a combination of both. The piston push should happen just as you reach the end of the track at the top.

There is no quasi connected redstone but I don’t understand bedrock redstone. Check the other commenters as they have managed to get it working on bedrock.

I believe you are missing a block that cuts a redstone line, this will later be placed by the lowest mushroom stem block as it’s pushed along to the block storage area. It’s in the tutorial.

You must of missed something, there’s a couple of bits at the end of the video that you need to double check which is a likely reason for in not working

Probably means that the pistons have extended and not been properly retracted during the build. May need to re-place them.

@CHR1STM4SPUDD1NG this sounds like you haven’t broken all of the brown mushroom blocks at the top. If there are any blocks (brown mushroom block or other) there it will not grow the next mushroom.
