This easy ravioli sauce is so easy to make with refrigerated or frozen ravioli. The sauce is thick flavorful cream sauce with a hint of tomato flavor, and simple seasonings, and can be made with fresh or canned diced tomatoes.
Ingredients
For the Sauce:
3 tablespoons salted butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon tomato paste
3 cloves garlic, minced
½ teaspoon - ADD as much as you like. EACH: onion powder, dried basil, dried oregano, mustard powder
¾ cup chicken broth
1 ½ cups half and half, half light cream/half milk
10 oz. Diced tomatoes. I used Herb and Garlic diced tomatoes.
Reserve some of the tomato juices
3 tablespoons cream cheese, softened. I used Herb and Garlic cream cheese.
1/3 cup Grana Padano cheese, grated. You can also use Parmigiano Reggiano cheese
Pasta
20 oz. refrigerated ravioli
Optional
1 1/2 cups of Baby Spinach leaves
1 pinch Red Pepper Flakes
