Here is my first proper BeamNG.drive video! Love this game and especially drifting and tuning cars in it even more than most actual drift games like assetto corsa or forza - but its hard to tune drift cars this game. Either way, these are the 3 cars and generally only 3 upgrades needed to get slideways.

This tutorial is pretty long form and geeky but I put down everything you need to know if you're a beginner drifter or just wanna try some simple upgrade setups.

the first and only car ive built for drifting is the grand marshal police version lol. everything stock besides a welded diff, 5 speed swap, drift steering, 450 or so hp, and different tires. its been so good and fun to drive that ive never built an actual drift car lmao. so when im drifting online im in a full cop interior, lights, and decals just manjiing 80mph down a highway lmfaooo

Also, the jbx100 mod adds new suspension to the 180sx which lets you tune everything and also gives you more angle

great tutorial man. i've had beamng for a while but the recent update has made it wayyyy more user-friendly (menu's-wise) and it seems to be a lot better optimized too. i love how insanely customizable the devs have made every aspect of this game, and i appreciate you showing us how you go through and tune cars for drifting because i'd have no idea otherwise lol

I made an AWD drift LeGran work. Completely vanilla too. The secret was to use two different tire compounds. Definitely more for drift racing than true drifting though.

This is a really helpful video, thank you! I can drift like an absolute boss in Assetto Corsa (if I do say so myself), but I've just been spinning out constantly in BeamNG. I will definitely give some of these settings a try then next time I'm playing it! 🙂

This is in the newer update so it might've changed since you made this video, I love stiffer suspension on higher powered (400 ish horsepower) drift cars, feels really nice

Best tip for amateur drifters is dowloand cjd mod from repo. Multiple angine options for all car, race suspension, brakes, spoilers, drift sterings for cars thats dont have it (with better angles), also turbo or supercharged for all vanilla engines.

@@PietroSalles Anything is possible argueably, but usually its not worth trying over and over again when you can work on your car a little bit and make it a lot easier. I think tyres are the easiest change over anything else if you're trying to keep it stock as possible. Still, its plenty fun sliding a normal car with normal steering angle, even if you might spin out a bit, because its more rewarding to get it right. Overall I'd say the mods just make it easier for your skill to translate into good driving rather than compensating for a difficult car

I found that the coupe ETK drift configuration is perfect for me, mid range power, but has enough to do about everything in second gear, I just change the rims because the gold ones are hideous

If you mix the LeGran drift mod part with the convertible 2 door version mod it drifts way better than the 4 door

oversteer and understeer assist is mainly meant to be used on controller so u can leave that on if ur on controller but wheel its absolutely horrible

New best beginer car form me is etk 800 sedan V8 NA. I use striped car, with rolCage + 17x9 3 spoke wheels with drift tires. It so easy to drift. Vanilla drift confing has to much power in my opinion. Also i recomendet full stance full camber low power cars. Like ekt 1 2.4l with stage one turbo, 15x7 steal wheels with standart or sport tires. (I use controler)

On West Coast USA, although East Coast USA gotta be my fav hands down. This spot is at the industrial area or docks or something - its one of the spawnpoints anyway.

what about the ffb configs? (i'm using the g920 and i find myself needing to literally throw the wheel at all times, almost as if it was turned off, which doesn't happen on any other games i play, like AC, CarX or even DiRT 3)

Make sure its enabled ofc, and open the logitech app after plugging the wheel in and that it doesnt say "NOT CONNECTED" n greyed out. Then as for the settings I'm not sure mine are too good but I'll put them down next time i got my wheel setup set up.

good video but drift steering not only gives your car more angle but also lowers your steering wheel rotation angle so if you want to drift on 900 degrees steering wheel angle it is a bit harder to tune some cars so you can drift them

Which car have you found does this? I’ve only had this on wide angle steering on modded parts/cars. Personally I can’t drive anything limited below 900

Are sport front tires and race back tires good? I give the back tires more grip when my car is rwd so if i ever oversteer, i let go of throttle so it can straighten out and not crash. Good or bad??

There are multiple ways to increase rear grip vs front grip like tuning camber, antiroll bar stiffness, spring height, or tire pressure. However, by doing it that way I suppose you still found a way to achieve less oversteer vs understeer. If it works for you by all means go ahead, but - it's probably not the usual "realistic" way of doing it [unless its a drag car ig] but still it's a video game at the end of the day lol. Some other things to test out though: - Lowering the rear or increasing the front spring height to get more grip in drifts (you see this on Formula Drift Cars) - Reducing rear tyre pressure bit. - Increasing the width of the rear wheels (one of my go-to methods for slippery cars). - Adding more negative rear camber (to a certain point) can increase grip in cornering, and positive rear camber can make it easier to slide. Any one of these things may work for the same effect, so you can test em out and see what ones you prefer.

Ooh someone else in the comments apparently did 2 tyre compounds for a 4wd car. Either way don't worry too much about taking BeamNG tuning too serious i guess, because ridiculous or experimental modifications may work just as well or more fun anyway

My cars continue to spin out not sure what the issue is as I have drifted on other games just fine before kind of upsetting hoe difficult it seems to set this game up.

Oh yeah this game is definitely one with a steep learning curve for drifting, although way more satisfying once you get the hang of it IMO. Some cars worth trying I don't think I mentioned is the Gavril H-Series van, and the D-15 truck with longer chassis with the long bed + extended cab. The length of these cars makes them way easier not to spin out.

@@jeeken397 It may be a while, unfortunately my wheel setup has fully stopped working and I can't play beam with it anymore. The process is basically the same as you would learn to drift in real life tho - any of these cars are good options to start. The first step is learning how to donut properly in an open space. you want to initiate a slide and hold it in a perfect circle while counter steering until you can drift around a circle/cone/pole and then exit while being in control. I can tell you it takes EXACTLY as much practice as driving or drifting in real life so be patient.

100%. It’s a fun game on it but not so much a good driving experience. I’d recommend at least a controller but the fun is in the force feedback for drifting
