Absolutely - this video was filmed in 2020 so things have definitely changed since then! We 100% recommend lithium these days! Check out some of our later videos! Cheers, Cahn
Amazing explanation. Thank you so much. Planning a 10 day roadtrip and was wondering if this setup is sufficient if we charge the fridge on the car 12v while driving.
just wondering if this simple set up would work the kings 75 litre fridge/freezer with the 138 amh agm battery and the 250w folding solar panel. My camping is very simple and i would only be running the fridge and a few lights at night that's pretty much it, thanks
Power station is 2-3x the price of a replaceable lifepo4 battery. Plus you can easily expand capacity without using proprietary connections and extra batteries. Can get 3kwh for under $500 lol.
why didnt you put the battery charger alligator clips onto the external pos and neg instead of opening the lid and connecting it to the battery terminals??
Thanks for the video i have the battery box and considering what size battery to buy and you answered the question and the solar charging too. happy camping
I only need a battery for charging my phone, laptop and camera battery. Was wondering how you go about plugging a laptop that normally charges from a 240 v socket into one of these battery boxes? is there something to convert the 12 to 240?
Hi there, For this purpose we would recommend looking at our inverters, as they're the part of our system that converts from 12 to 240v. Regards, Andrew
Could you have just an anderson plug in the boot connected striaght to the main car battery(with a fuse?) to charge on the go? So youd start the car then plug the second battery in and unplug before plugging anything onto the second battery when stopped?
Hi there, That is in essence how the set up functions as the DCDC would allow for equalising the two batteries safely, as we would always recommend batteries in parallel and series match in design and capacity if connected directly. Regards, Andrew
Such a great helpfull video. We often go away on weekends only. We normally try to get powered sites but doing busy. It's very hard. This set up looks great. We only have a kings 22 can fridege, so it should work easy. Is there a big difference between fixed solar and fold out solar? Cheers
I have two batteries and two fridges how do I keep them fully charged especially one that is only plugged in to solar only because it’s down to E1 how do I fix it
What's this whole set up cost?? I'm on a mobile so can't itemize all the items you used. Maybe you could provide a parts list for those interested? So customers could just walk into the store knowing what their after and have an idea on cost. Excellent vid, well explained. Cheers.
Hi Steve, We'd be happy to help you out with that, please give us a call either on 1800 88 39 64 and press 3 for sales, or alternatively you can send us a message on our Facebook page with this video link and our team can help you out. Cheers, Mia
this is super helpful! thanks for that my 12v plug at the back can run when my car is off, is that bad? should i be getting someone to have a look and change to work only when car is on?
I tried ordering one... but u guys do not ship to the US... is there any other way i can get one...? Or perhaps is there something else thats available here in the US that i can buy...? Please and thank u
Great tips...usefull info..well presented..love your products..but live on the other side of the world 🇨🇦..lol I watch a lot of youtube videos on offgrid camping..and a lot of people are lousy at describing the content...in your case..clear content..cool products..thanks..
I was thinking of getting a battery box and another AGM battery in parallel ( 1 in the battery box and 1 next to it), then using the outlets on the battery box as a permanent set-up. Have a dcdc charger and a folding solar panel at camp. Would both the batteries charge being in parallel? Thanks. Also your videos are very helpful. Stu.
Hey mate, The best option for dual battery charging is one of our dual battery systems, or opting for solar charging your secondary battery, If you'd like more info, please send us a PM on Facebook. Cheers, Mia
If it’s only a 2 or 3 hour drive I leave it in the back of the Ute connected to the battery. Not worth the hassle since I’m on lithium plus it’s a lot safer incase you have an accident. Solar will replace your lost hours whilst driving.
Hi Daryl, at the moment our Brendale, QLD store offers installation, otherwise our customer service team can let you know of any local fitters we recommend. Cheers, Mia
Work out how many watts your fridge uses when running. Let's say it's 40 watts. Divide that by 12 volts = 3.3 amp hours. So every hour you use 3.3 amps from your battery. So watts divided by volts = amp hours used from your battery.
Do you need an pure sine wave inverter to go between your battery box and the fridge? Or need an inverter to use more powerful equipment, such as laptop computer, kettles, microwaves (if needed)
Hi Alan, If you have any product related questions, I recommend emailing us at social@4wdsupacentre.com.au so our team can provide you with all the assistance you require. Regards, Talia
I wish someone would explain if the KINGS battery box should be in the ON position to charge from either 240, car or solar panel. I found it doesn't charge when not in the on position. Am I doing it right?
