My mother did this stitch! It’s WONDERFULLY fluffy! She left an unfinished blanket when she died and I couldn’t figure out how to finish it. ☹️ She was a lefty and I just couldn’t figure it out by unstitching and reverse engineering it. I’ve tried and tried for 15 YEARS! You have NO IDEA what this tutorial means to me. 😥 Thank You SO MUCH! ❤️

Hi there! 60 this year and just started learning how to crochet. So, I am very much a beginner. Would love to make this blanket for my son. He is 6' tall so I would like something he can wrap up in. Like 48" x 60" something like that. How can I figure out how many skeins of yarn to buy for this blanket? Also, do I need to use a 10 hook or can I use my largest which is a 6? Please don't laugh I am a beginner like I said. Thanks!

You actually are counting the loop on the hook, so you’re really going into the second loop, not the third to begin with. I think there is something that is lost in translation between you (UK) and me (US). I’ve never seen anyone count that loop as one to start with, sorry.
@LeahElisheva
@LeahElisheva 8 месяцев назад
I realize with this stitch, you should make your chain as long as you want the blanket. Not the width but the length. Because you want the nice ribbed lines going top to bottom of the blanket, lengthwise- not left to right

I. Love. You. My mother tried to teach me to crochet when I was 10 or 11, but I always got bored after finishing the foundation chain. FFWD a yr or 2 & I graduated to the sc...I thought. Unfortunately my mother wasn't very patient so instead of asking to b shown repeatedly, I decided to wing it. 👍 After crocheting, unraveling, crocheting, unraveling (literally thousands of times), getting beyond frustrated, retiring, deciding to give it yet another go, (even buying a few books) all so many times over the last 20+ yrs, I'm @ it again! This time though, there's RU-vid! I've watched several 'Beginner Friendly' vids, but they aren't quite "beginner enough". Thank u for being such a conscientious, patient teacher. Until your video, no one's been able to crack my "crochet thickness". Yay! 👏👏😍

I made two. One 10 crochet hook and 5 skeins of bernat blanket. Large ones. I think 90 chains. Can’t remember. I did another one 15 crochet hook. 4 bernat blanket big ones. 72 stiches across. But I ruined it adding a border. The first one I added a shell border and it wasn’t great but no big holes like second one. First one big enough for 2 people to snuggle.

Probably a very silly question, but do you have to half treble crochet into the chain2 that you do in each row turn to keep the sides straight, or just into the top of the three chains in the first row? Does that make any sense at all? Sorry - complete novice!

I'm thinking to make a blanket for my granddaughter 4 years old. How many stitches do I need in very first row?

You can do any number you like, depends what dimension you want your finished blanket to be - there’s some really great charts online with recommended blanket sizes 🩵

I used this wool to make a blanket for my grandsons cot. I just used single crochet but the same idea I used less wool but this pattern is pretty . My son Requested I make another one for my next grandson due in November so I will do your pattern so there is a point of difference . Thanks xoxo

I do not understand why so many crocheters make making a slip knot so difficult! It's one little step, no need to put this yarn here and that over there and wrap it around your finger and -- what? 4 steps? It's one step!

Could someone help me? Brand new beginner & I want to use this pattern for a 40"x40" blanket. But baby has already been born (5 weeks old). I don't have time to learn how to guage how many stitches I need. Could some tell me how many stitches should be in my foundation row, and how many rows to crochet? It doesn't have to be perfect! Thank you so very much!! 😍

I’ve been searching for a simple first crochet project for a baby blanket. I’m expecting my first and my granny used to always crochet blankets for the babies coming into the family. I think this is definitely something I can follow and hopefully I can make a beautiful little blanket for my tiny one.

Hi it's me again I noticed that your pattern on the right side and on the left side go in and out I'm trying to make the edges flash with each other but it's not working or am I supposed to have the edges go in and out like that you just need to have a bottle three hour class devoted to need to teach me what are you doing I 70 years old they say you can't teach an old dog new tricks but I'm Tryan😂🐶
@BlossomCrochet
@BlossomCrochet 7 лет назад
Don't worry, it's no problem. Yes, the sides of this design do go in and out slightly, but once there's a border around it, you don't see it at all :) My 'Easiest Border Ever' tutorial looks lovely with this blanket. Rebekah.

@@BlossomCrochet Thanks Rebekah for your replies that are helping me as a beginner. i'm not sure if your tutorial for this blanket gave the amount of base chain stitches needed for -say- a double or queen size blanket because i am deaf, can you tell me how many i would need? and what are chains in multiples of??

Lynn Thigpen you can use 2 colour wools twist then crochet together as though just one. Or you can knot together the first way is the neatest I’ve done both. Good luck 😊
