Possibly the easiest and fastest crochet blanket! Ideal for beginner and also a great stash busting project. I decided to add this version after receiving so many messages asking what to do if you couldn't get your hands on super chunky yarn... So here we are, my most popular tutorial - version 2!
This beautiful stitch looks so great and gives a lovely, textured look for blankets and other projects, it's very dense and thick and wonderfully soft! You can use multicolours or you can simply use multiple strands of the same colour, they choice is yours..!
I am using 6 strands of DK yarn and a 15mm hook, the colours I'm using in the tutorial are Scheepjes Colourcrafter in Weert, Lelystad, Heerlen, Leien, Leek and Hayfield Spirit in Sundown. You can buy all of your supplies HERE with great international postage rates too! : www.snufflebeanyarn.co.uk?ref=2
The possibilities are endless when it comes to colour combinations, I have made lots and will be sharing more photos on my Instagram!

I found a very easy way to keep yarn skeins separate for this kind of project. Go to a place that sells a lot of wine and ask for the box that a case of wine comes in. They usually have a cardboard insert that keeps the bottles from hitting each other. This insert has 6 to 8 divisions that are the perfect size to hold a skein on end.

Finally, a video on how to make a blanket on a budget. The blanket yarns I have seen are so expensive especially here in the UK. I will definitely purchase lots of DK yarn - I like the idea of a giant ball of yarn.

What makes a perfect crochet blanket is the edges and it goes with all crochet projects. I enjoyed your video. It looks hard to but it actually easy to do. 😊

I thought this was a wonderful video. Rolling the multiple strands in one ball was something I wish I had seen before my last double strand project that drove me crazy trying to detangle skeins. I love the general pattern. It is simple but has such a beautiful texture. Using many strands of any budget color allows the user to create an endless array of beautiful eye-catching color combos. Also the bulky weight of many strands looks like it is almost self-blocking. What a great method to rapidly create a gorgeous gift baby blanket!

Love this! One idea:: incorporate the ending length into your tassel, if you are making a tassel for each corner; this will eliminate the need for having to weave in all the ends...and I love all the talking/detail you provide in your videos...very thorough and precise which is perfect for teaching crochet (which can be a fiddly hobby); I find I need details through visual and audio; some tutorials one cannot even see the stitch into where the teacher is inserting the hook....so this is great.....will prob. find some yarn today to bring along on a trip coming up...

Multiple strands works with any pattern and have used this method several times. It makes great afghans out of leftover or partial skeins of the same yarn weight. Especially good for use in baby blankets when you want a soft blanket for a child to lay on when you (or gift recipient) have a hard floor.

I did start to make a larger blanket but found that 6 strands tended to twist and pucker even though I used giant balls of prewound yarns,so for me I think I will have to stick to a smaller project, saying that I think I had to use a crochet hook several sizes smaller so possibly that made a difference, but absolutely love this tutorial, and thank you as always for such easy to understand tutorials.
