NOTE!!! dont build over your base if you have dogs/cats/villagers/etc.... it will really mess up spawn rates. I didn't feel like rebuilding it so I had to merk 40 of my dogs
Note: please build this in a huge lake or ocean to get maximum results. In this video, the location is bad tbf, because the mountain is nearby, which causes less mobs to spawn
@@WilliamGunnarsson-r6s in my survival world, i tried to build it as far as y level 270 or so, but the rates were so low even though the simulation distance was 4 chunks
Yeah. He has 5x64 cobble which is 320. Going 20 blocks up on 8 sides alone is 160. Each side next to the trap doors is 8x8(64), so a stack to do each quarter, then the walls up is about 72, then the roof would be 8x8x4 plus about another stack lol so realistically you’re looking at about 12-13 stacks of cobblestone
I built the mob farm step by step, in the middle of an ocean, 100 blocks above ground, lit up everything, turned on peaceful mode and back to hard, and it barely makes mobs :/
its because there is probably caves under the farm so the mobs spawn in the cave instead of the farm, fill up the cave with blocks and it should work, the best spot to build the farm is the ocean
I'm honestly so upset that i spent all that time and resources building this and it doesn't work. I went 100 blocks up over the ocean, but it was still too close to surrounding land, hills, caves. If you build this, i would recommend going higher than 100 blocks if you're ANYWHERE near land. Get some bamboo, make scaffolding, and go up like 200 blocks or something
Thanks. I yolo it and expand it 1 block up and 7 blocks on each direction. Mob spawn fast. My dumbass thought it still just slab for the window and not close it after switching to auto. Creeper explode and had to rebuild again xD.
I had to use a whole row of building blocks or I would not have been able to enclose the spawning platform. I also had to change the glass to tinted glass because it was letting in too much light through the dropper.
I built this in my hardcore world, needed atleast double to building materials (cobble) I used deep slate for the looks lol. But I built it over the mountain range next to my base (ocean is literally 26 blocks further away) and the spawn rate is HOT GARBAGE. Now i I gotta rebuild it over the ocean. So yay
Mobs don't spawn in my farm and I restarted my game, shortly set everything to easy then back to hard but it still doesn't work, does anyone else have any troubleshoots?
ah thats an easy fix. just add a chute to funnel the mobs about 24 blocks away, as this will reset the mob spawning cap. this works on java and bedrock
You can't use slabs for the actual roof because it lets in light. However, you could put the regular cobblestone roof on and add slabs to the top of that instead of making torches. You could use slabs, leaf blocks, glass, or torches to prevent mobs spawning on the top.
Would it be possible to put wither roses over the hopper? Will the hopper still pick up the items if there is a block instead of slab on bedrock edition?
The slabs are specifically so the hoppers collect it, a block will not allow for any items to go to the chest, so its better to follow the tutorial, Its anyways easier to get those materials over whiter roses Also note that you should make this farm over an ocean
quick question: if i want to add more layers, how many blocks do i have to skip between the two cobble platforms? like, how tall has to be the place where mobs spawn? thanks♥️
Been a while since I’ve done a mob farm but I think you should be fine to just make it 2 blocks tall so no ender spawn. Then a roof and you could use the roof as your floor for the next floor above.
wow, what an awful guide. the count for cobblestone was way off, and glass was off by a bit. and the spawner doesnt even work. thanks for the waste of time. do better.
exactly, i spend three hours gathering all the resources and spend an hour building it just for it to not work. if youre gonna make a guide make it a good one.
