We decided to do a last minute off roading trail up to the Santiago Peak in Orange County to test out a friend's light bar. The trail itself is really easy with a few area to practice your off roading skill. The light bar however was so nice to have, especially when it got really dark and we needed that extra light to see along the trail.

Bro, Santiago Peak is essentially in my backyard! One of my favorite trails to hit when I just want to get out for a few and enjoy the views with my wife. The Corona side (Bedford) offers a little more challenge than the Silverado (Orange County) side when heading up--also has some fun short offshoots with deep mogul crossruts. Hit us up next time and we'll join you guys!

@@Michael_Tran Don't get me wrong, it isn't the Rubicon Trail, but it's more rocky and rutty than coming up the Silverado side ;-)

@@Michael_Tran Nah man. It's not bad. A couple of sections that have been dug out a bit with deep ruts but you should be fine; it's just more "terrain" than the Silverado side (which IMO is almost like a paved dirt road! Lol. There are a couple side offshoots that have deep crossruts but are optional. Unlike other Jeep guys, I don't downplay trails and say everything is "easy" because everyone has different vehicles and easy for a vehicle with 42" tires, 6 inch lift with lockers may not be for say someone with a crossover suv. Hey, when are you getting your 4x4? End of the year?

@@4122inc I agree, so many variable when it comes to off roading. I've been researching like crazy but it's such a crazy market right now with trucks, might be a few months before I can get the exact one I want.

shouldn't be any pinstripe areas...mostly open unless you get to close to the brushes

Just went yesterday. It’s been flooding and raining heavy and I encountered somewhat deep ruts on the last section up to the top up by modjeska peak. I’m running a 4x4 3rd gen 4runner on 32s with open diffs and stock suspension. I just BARELY was able to do it. I scraped my bottom a few times and had to send it up in 4low a few times. I reached an obstacle I thought I couldn’t do but was too narrow to turn around so I literally had to just send it up the hill or try to reserve back. Made it just fine but I nearly crapped myself this wound up being a good test for my rig. Don’t recommend if you’re afraid of heights lol.

Cool video. Thanks for posting your adventures...I'm binge watching! I have an older 2002 RWD Ford Expedition that was my father's that he gave me as he's too old to drive now. He only put 85k miles on it in 21 years!. I put some bigger tires on the stock wheels and decided to take it out yesterday based on your videos. I got to the last part of the road up to the peak but it was too rocky and rutted and I kept spinning and couldn't get to the top. There were a few folks who couldn't make it and had to back out. Lots of learning. I didn't air down my tires which may have helped but who knows. I had a bunch of fun. Thanks!

Nice man...glad these videos are helpful in your own adventure. Section of that trail at the top can be rutted after rain and many people going up there. I've seen snow up there too and it can be a challenge for 2wd for sure. Definitely a good learning trail

It's a two way trail but some section can be narrow...most stock vehicle with a bit of clearance is fine

Not needed...it's pretty hard dirt but does help with traction if you do. I didn't cause I've done this trail many time.

Depends on what you need it for...I use my Tacoma for work therefore I like having a truck. But a 4Runner would be my choice if im looking for overlanding only

I've only done the maples spring up and down...however there's a few the connects to the other side of the mountain to Lake Elsinore. However it depends on the weather and fire...sometime those are closed. Ive yet to do it from the other direction though.

Yea, the main trail is not hard...but the offshoot can be gnarly. I've seen people flip on some of these offshoot.

Yes I did...however there's a few different paths to go up and down. However I keep hearing they closed it down. Maybe summer time it's better for those routes.
