the seneca dragonfly looks like a very cool pumper. the sheridan air rifles in the day with there own .20 cal all brass and walnut rifle were l think the top pumper they built them in racine wisconsin and to them it was about the quality and using the best materials and they were built to last a life time if not abused. they stuck with there own .20 cal pellets that they made.
I’d read that vintage Sheridan’s were going for quite a bit on eBay. I believe the Benjamin.177 & .22 guns were pretty similar? The Dragonfly is a nice gun. It has a lot of neat features over the Benjamin’s pumpers but I still think the Benjamin guns are better built. In my perfect world I’d prefer this Dragonfly with a traditional pumping linkage that had the same level of effort as a 362. I think their butterfly linkage or whatever it’s called is more of a gimmick than something that adds value or ease of shooting.
@@airgunsofalaska l agree 100% of what you are saying. l may look into more of this new pumper . l do like the look of it and it has a cool name for the gun. l only wonder about this new linkage system. will it hold up is my question. the old style pumpers like the sheridans and benjamins are not hard to pump up. the problem l think is that people that are new to airguns dont know the correct tecnique when pumping up an air gun. and they struggle. struggle comes complaining. and so someone invents easy pumping system. good vidio though on the dragonfly
I love my .22 Dragonfly! At 20yds, same hole! Once I finally had the barrel clean with 126 patches with my Patchworm, Ballistol and Bore Tech Rimfire!!! I will probably one in .177!!!
The Dragonfly I owned was very accurate at close ranges. I just couldn’t get it to group tight and consistently at longer distances. The barrel moved around when pumping creating a situation where the scope wouldn’t stay zeroed. I sent it back.
i did have a lot of pumpers most sheridan c orginal because that was the most powerfull airgun then , only bsa airsporters ,hw 35 diana 35 m, on the market then next behind in power the recoilles shot of the pneumatic was good for accuracy , but then came the magnum springer the hw 80 , and that was much easyer and faster to shoot and 50 %more output, i got a diana 54 but that was a perfect gun ,but best used from a bench it must be kept horizontal to get the recoilles accuracy . and the scope is still moving , now there is the norica omnia zrs zero recoil also the scope is out of the recoil. that could be the best springer ever . after pcp or co2, and with the advance only pellets needed
I’ve got an Air King and noticed how the action will move depending on the angle it’s held. I like it but it’s heavy and while amazingly smooth for a springer it still slightly vibrates compared to a pneumatic. I’ve got 3 PCP’s and don’t shoot them much because I hate recharging them with a hand pump. I watched a few videos on that Norica and it appears to have a similar floating action like the Air King. I’d like to try one before I’d ever buy one but I don’t have that opportunity. This Dragonfly is quite nice, I just don’t care for it’s weird feeling pumping action and how many pumps it requires for full power. I’ve basically confirmed my initial reservations that I’d end up disliking the need to pump 15 times for full power.
The Seneca also needs 15 pumps to hit full power, which is IMO a bit ridiculous. For pumpers a forward mounted red dot works well IMO and is what I have on my 1981 Blue Streak.
I knew it needed 15 pumps going in before I ordered it but didn’t realize the pumping action would feel so weird. I’ve discovered I prefer the traditional pumping action style that requires fewer pumps for full power. The Dragonfly is a nice gun, I’m just a bit surprised with the issues that have cropped up on the first two days.
Great rifles and its another way to shoot i have a mate got one its ok and a great video all the best and i like Smk rifles under levers and brake barrel the b2 custom i give two b2 rifles to a good friend the 22 was about 10.5 ftlbs and the 177 was wait for it 11.4ftlbs and the extra ftlbs made it a better rifle and it was accurate but great video.
I like the pumpers too, especially the 362. I like that Benjamin you have...I've spent all my "allowance" money on air rifles for awhile, and when I get enough collected, that may still may be out of range....but, ya never know, might find one on e-bay some day.
@russellpresley6372 I enjoyed going to estate sales when I visited my Grandpa in Indiana. But my town is so small you kinda know everybody so those kinds of things are sad (for me) to attend. There are definitely great deals to be had though!

It seems like 75% of the videos I upload now get limited monetization status automatically. I have to then request an additional review. I never saw that issue with my powersports channel. From what I’m seeing, a guy would have to have 1000’s and 1000’s of subscribers to make even a pittance off RU-vid. It’s not something someone should do if they think they are going to make money.
I wish they’d have made those style Benjamin guns easier to scope. Had they done so there’d be little reason to consider buying a 362 or a Dragonfly. The Benjamin’s are built like tanks and are proven to provide decades of service. I doubt the pumping linkage on my Dragonfly will stand the test of time.
I haven't bought either airgun yet... looking at them! However, your review is exactly the opposite of every other video review I've seen! By opposite, I am referring to the pump action. The quality, including wood stock and metal trigger of the Seneca appeals to me. One article showed the power (measuring speed) of various numbers of pumps from both airguns from 3 to max and the Seneca gets 95% of its knockdown power (around 15 foot pounds) by the 9th or 10th pump. And that last pump was as easy as the first I understand.
I buy all my own airguns so I’m not beholden to a sponsor or advertiser to say nice things about their product. This channel is just an extension of my hobby, I’m not trying to make it into a side business or something like that. I watch the same videos as everyone else I felt I got lied to about this gun. Basically the Dragonfly is easier to pump on compression, no one talks about how it’s more difficult and unnatural feeling to pull the pump open on the intake stroke. Plus the gun requires 15 pumps for full power. That’s a lot of pumping, especially with an unnatural feeling stroke cycle. The wood looks nice but has sharp edges, I pinched my hand repeatedly on closure of the pump and the pump handle is slippery. I did really like the trigger, it’s a great feeling trigger! A 362 only takes 8 pumps for full power and mine is easier to pump than the Dragonfly. But is not in the same class unless it is modified with a Crosman steel breech so…. Unless a guy wants to do that it’s at a disadvantage as a scope can’t easily be mounted. The Benjamins 392/397 are nicer guns, way more accurate and far better built and will last much longer than the Chinese made Dragonfly. But they are considerably more difficult to pump, the ergos suck for shooting iron sights with the new synthetic stock and it requires a $50 scope mount to properly mount a scope and the Benjamin is already $20 more expensive. The Dragonfly has a lot of cool features and if you only shoot out to 35 yards a guy will probably be content with it barring the unknowns about its long term reliability, longevity and parts support.
I like the Dragonflies features but the magazines are a little cheesy I don't care for way you load them . I like the fact that a moderator can be installed , for me living in a housing tract it makes it very quiet . I also have the 342 ( 1977 model ) along with Sheridans and they just make to much noise .
The large number of features is why I ended up buying one. Though I do feel I was misled by shill, vendor sponsored videos touting its accuracy. I’m still unhappy about that. I didn’t care for the way the magazine loaded either but I only tried it once. For plinking/target shooting it’s unnecessary but for pest control it’d be great. I did like that it had a metal housing and the magnet retention was a nice system. I’m rural enough that sound isn’t an issue for me but I can see how the threaded muzzle would be a great feature. I’ve also got a 342, an ‘84 model, it’s a great gun!

That Dragonfly was so disappointing in so many ways. I fell for the marketing and I’m still kinda pissed about it. 🤬 The 362 is easier to pump but Dragonfly, DRAGONFLY! It’s all the big YT airgun review channels could talk about.

Thanks! Bummer about your Silver Streak, those are very nice guns. Amazon did have the anniversary model 362 available and that has a steel breech and wood stock. The standard version doesn’t have either. Pyramid has the anniversary 362 model marked down $100. The standard 362 uses the plastic breech, iron sights only. It’s accurate within a reasonable distance but the steel breech is much nicer and allows for proper mounting of a scope. I really like the 362 and built my own .177 cal version of it.
I’ve done a few videos on those types of guns if you want to check them out. You definitely want to order one. Everyone should have one of those guns as they are excellent as both pistols and carbines.

I’ve not removed the scope and gone back to iron sights. I’m going to give my arms a break from pumping and let the dumb thing sit for a few days. I’ve shot my 362 for as long as a duration as the Dragonfly over the same consecutive day period and it didn’t give me aches and pains in my forearms are wrists. The pumping mechanism on this Dragonfly is a joke. Who cares if the effort is slightly reduced from a 362 when as a trade off you’ve got to pump it twice as much for every full power shot? Right now I’m left thinking, did I really want a pneumatic that can shoot really well from 0-20 yds and has this amazing feature that you get to pump it twice as much for every shot? 🤔🤷♂️
Thanks! Hopefully some guys don’t get upset that I’m not head over heels in love with the Dragonfly. I just tell viewers what I find and try and explain why I feel the way I do about things. It’s definitely a nice gun and I like airguns in this price range. I just find it kind of ironic that the main thing I find annoying is the biggest selling feature with this gun.

Heh haha 😂. I’m not really into shooting birds or any animals unless they are being pests around my house. I think this is the first summer I’ve gone where I’ve not had to shoot a single squirrel. I much prefer to plink and target shoot.

Yes, it was under $200 as shown in the video w/o scope. I installed the Crosman steel breech and longer, 24” Crosman barrel. I don’t recall how much the bolt handle was?
@@Alex-oy6wb a little less for how it was shown in the video. I also bought a GravMag which can be used on any gun with a Crosman steel breech. It makes the 362 into a repeater just like the Dragonfly… but, the GravMag doesn’t work flawlessly. It has its pros and cons. Right now the biggest con of the 362 compared to the Dragonfly is the trigger. I didn’t realize how bad my 362 trigger was until shooting back to back with the Dragonfly. I guess mentally it never occurred to me to directly compare the 362 to the 342 as the 342 is out of production and not as enjoyable to shoot over and over for long plinking or target sessions. I’m kind of wanting to look for a better quality aftermarket trigger for the 362. From a strictly cost perspective it doesn’t make sense as then that’ll make the 362 more expensive than a Dragonfly. But from an enjoyment perspective for me it makes total sense. 😆
@@airgunsofalaska right on. I have the 362 with the steel breach and LPA rear sight. I don’t have the extended barrel as I enjoy a shorter/lighter rifle. I had the dragonfly and it was accurate out of the box, but similar to you, I didn’t enjoy pumping it. But, it was stronger than the 362. It was destroying plywood significantly more than the 362. I pre-ordered the 362 100th anniversary. So, will see if trigger is same and if the $400 price tag is merited
@@mikecarter4412 Haha 😄, I don’t mind pumping pneumatic guns with the traditional 8-10 pump max as I often only need 6 pumps for the ranges I shoot. I’ve found I greatly dislike hand pumping PCP’s so I don’t tend to shoot mine much.
He's making too big a deal of the pumping of the Seneca. You do it a while you get used to the action. It's more the 15 pumps for maximum power I don't like. but the pumps are not hard, although the last two or three get a little more resistance. With that said, I'm sure I would enjoy the Benjamin 392S. But I do prefer the Wood stock of the Seneca and the easier pumping and much better fiber optic sights. Every review I've seen, said the Benjamins sights suck. Dragonfly, also seems to be more accurate of the two from the reviews I've seen. I just seen a review that said just the opposite of what he said about the Seneca dragonfly. I have a very old crosman 22 caliber pump and and all these other pump air rifles get progressively harder the more you pump them. this is the only one I ever had, that barely gets any harder until the last two or three which is only slightly firmer. And I'm 67 years old, so I know what I'm talking about, since I've been shooting these things since I was a teenager.
I bought brand new or already owned all the guns featured in this video. I don’t get guns for free to say nice things about them so other people hopefully order them from PA or some other big online store. The big selling point of the Seneca is its pumping action. Well it’s pretty bad when the $100 cheaper 362 is easier to pump. I gain zero, zilch, nada for whatever gun someone buys, nor do I care what they get. The Dragonfly didn’t live up to the hype for me and I returned it. Having to pump 15 times for full power in order to shoot long distance is a total drag. The Benjamin is a much higher quality gun and far better built. The new synthetic stock models (I have a 397S) have terrible ergos for shooting iron sights. But install a scope and it is very comfortable. The piss poor accuracy of my Dragonfly past 35 yds was the final straw and I returned it. I’ve done multiple videos showcasing the amazing accuracy of my 397S. There isn’t even a comparison as the Seneca was so bad past 35 yds. I’ve also been shooting airguns for a very long time, since elementary school actually. If a gun sucks I’m going to tell it as it is on my channel. I’m not trying to get a product sponsorship from some random airgun vendor.
