I've been watching motorized video sliders almost non stop for the past couple days. I primarily shoot footage for my channel with an iPhone and GoPro, and I'm starting to focus on one of the ROV models as my buying choice. I used this thing or my last video, macro lens beauties on the lens I was reviewing and it really is amazing. ALL of my product shots from now on, no more holding my breath and 60fps pans, I'm shooting on old vintage glass as well so manual focus is part of it...still works great.

GRRRR! iOS only! What the hell! I cancelled my order! Would be very helpful to mention that upfront. I couldn't even find that info on their site. Rhino customer support was awesome though. They said the android app will be done in 2 months. Thumbs down on this video!

I currently use my iPhone X for filming. However I'm saving to purchase a dedicated camera later. Looking at the Canon M50 or SL2 anyway would I ok getting the larger slider to use with my phone since I'll be upgrading soon?

If it had more flexibility as far as settings I'd get it, but I do macro product b-roll and if I can't confidently set my focus it won't work for me. What I need is the ability to stop it in the middle so I can set the focus perfectly and then record the full range.

Is it quiet enough to use during an acoustic music performance? The last motorized slider I purchased is so dam noisy It can't be used for any music video production. During the video it seems a bit loud.

Great slider and a very good video. Only downsides is no Android, pan and tilt automation and I guess the manual control is no big deal since it does video perfectly and has time lapse.

I think the biggest thing to consider is that the SliderMini is still in the campaign phase. The Rov campaign was launched October 16, 2017 and finished November 21, 2017 and is only just making its was to the market. Who knows how long it will be before the slider mini hits the market.

The market saturation of Apple makes it a priority for devs... also it is a huge pain to develop for Android by of fragmentation and tons of different hardware manufacturers with OS customizations. I used to do it for a living, so that’s just my insight FWIW. I still agree that it’s BS to release stuff with only one platform

Caleb I believe you work on X-t3 at the moment. Could you cover some kind of connection from camera to phone as a field monitor? I would be interested if this slider can handle it 😊....or even with small hd focus. Could you use power from small hd focus to X-t3? Thank you a lot.

Hi there, Caleb: When you do a review of the X-T3, will you please test out the Auto ISO function? I remember seeing that some Fuji cameras have a very "stepped" auto ISO where it is pretty annoying. I don't use auto ISO much but sometimes I have to. Thanks.

The smartta slider mini seems great, I just don't think the top speed is fast enough for me. I would use it mainly for real estate, so I'd want top speed to be 3-4 seconds to get to the other side, not 10-20 seconds

I ordered the 16" Pro model back in July because it seems like the perfect small, lightweight motorized slider to have with you in the field on the go. Everything I've seen of the device is great, however, 3 months after ordering mine through B&H, I still haven't received it. I've spoken to B&H, and they constantly give me different estimates (I think I've gotten 5 different ones) as to when they expect the shipment from Rhino. I've spoken directly to Rhino, and they haven't been able to give me an answer either, and didn't really seem to care. I get that this is a new product and it's seemingly in high demand. But seeing videos like this where Rhino is giving out discount promo codes for new orders yet they haven't fulfilled orders from 3 and 4 months ago is pretty irritating. They make excellent products, but their customer services is woefully inadequate and when you're trying to use a piece of their gear to make your living, you'd think they'd care a bit more.

Not sure what you can do, but appreciate the sentiment. I think sometimes there's a disconnect when companies come out with a new product that is in high demand. They keep their foot on the gas in terms of marketing and driving sales, but don't stop to think about how they might be alienating customers who have been waiting months for their orders to be fulfilled while they flood the internet with discount promo codes for new orders. I get that things can be crazy and stuff gets backordered, but they really need better supply chain management and communication with their customer service. 3-4 months when the estimate at the time the order was placed was 2 weeks, and no effort to communicate with and resolve the issue for the customer. Just doesn't engender customer loyalty.

I got excited and pre-ordered one before reading your comment. This is very disappointing news. I noticed there is no indication anywhere on their website on dates or date ranges for order fulfillments... Might end up cancelling my order.

I'm not trying to encourage people to cancel their orders or disparage the product. They make excellent products and I'm sure this one is no exception. As frustrated as I am, I'm not canceling my order because it's a piece of gear that I will use a lot, especially when filming client events. That has to outweigh my urge to not give my business to a brand that I feel hasn't acted the way it should. So I'll keep my order and give friends and colleagues my honest opinion about the ROV Pro Slider as a product, but it will also come with the caveat of how Rhino the brand handled this whole situation from a customer service standpoint. Then they can decide for themselves whether they want to do business with Rhino or not.

So the slider + motor supports up to 51 pounds? I suppose at that point it can support a cinema camera like a RED weighing in at 15-16 pounds moderatly rigged out.

Hi, Caleb. So I just got my slider a couple of weeks ago. I have had problem after problem with this slider. I am using Android, so I guess it is not as developed or as well tested as if I had an Apple phone/tablet. Can you explain how to do a timelapse with it? The only way it works for me is in my camera's photo mode, taking hundreds of pictures? Do I have to take all these photos into FCPX or Premiere and put the timelapse together myself? I am using a Canon SL2 which creates timelapse videos in camera (no third party video software needed). Can I still use this function somehow? The video mode of the Rov app only allows slides that last less than one minute at max. But if in timelapse mode in the Rov app (to achieve longer, slower slides), my camera settings are overrode by the app....creating old school, hundreds of photos type of timelapse (not a quick, user friendly timelapse process). I want to use the Rov to create motion for IN CAMERA timelapse videos. I don't want to have to stitch together hundreds of photos in a video editing program to make my timelapse videos. Is this possible?

Nevermind, Caleb. I figured this out...I just used the in-camera timelapse from my SL2, ignored connecting the shutter cable to the camera/Rov, and proceeded with the timelapse function within the Rov app. I matched the duration of the slide to the duration of my in-camera timelapse from my Canon SL2. This resulted in the slider moving for the duration of my timelapse, while the SL2 was free to do its' thing and create an in-camera timelapse video for me.

@@phillippia This is not a great way to do this as your camera may take a photo during the movement portion of the sliders function resulting in some blurry images (depending on your shutter speed). I would stick to allowing the app/slider to control your cameras shutter release. Yes this ends up with a large number of images that you then need to import into software to create a video but you can have RAW images and edit the heck out of them for any desired look. I love this slider so far.

It's nice! $300 ($270 with discount) is a little too expensive in my opinion. Especially with the given limitations. But, it is pretty cool!

Shot at 9:30 - is the micro jitter from the slider or the camera ? :S How did you find the noise level when recording for interviews? Would love a pan + tilt - heavier payload pro version ( 5-8kg )...

I saw that micro jitter too...played the video at lower resolutions and it was still there. Unfortunately, I doubt it's from the camera. Would like Caleb to weigh in on this issue.
