I would love to have 8 of the same reel and be able to send them off to the factory to get serviced, but I cant afford it so I figured I might find a helpful video on how to do it. I guess not.

Maybe the 13 concept a that broke on you had to with bad shipping or someone at 13 dropped it and thought it was ok! Yea no thanks I have fished all my life and I have serviced all of my gear for years. A real fisherman that knows the ins and outs of his gear will service it himself in my opinion! And service his boat himself as well. Your one of those guys I see on the lake that has money but no clue!

Cops WERE called during this video. Hahah you got me! Another good point is you may be able to take them apart and clean but if you break/lose a part...you're out of luck. Don't have to worry about that if a shop does it.

Haha, I was thinking when I started this was "Matt doesn't clean his own reels, what?!" Then came the bubble wrap. Haha.

Didnt see that coming... also, why did you choose 13 fishing? Myself, I started with a blackmax. Then a Lews tournament 6 years ago. Finally picked up a shimano last year. Spent 65$ on the Lews and I service it every 3 months just because i get board. Thing still feels like it just came out of the box(even tho i fish 1-2 times per week). Id like to hear your story about your fishing gear history sometime.

As you lose line and the diameter of the spool shrinks where the line comes off, you actually gain drag strength. So there's never a time to actually tighten it down completely. And actually when the fish is running you might have to back off the drag for aforementioned reason. This is why a lot of people break off when tightening the drag.

I need to send off all of my reels too! Those reels should last you way longer than 5 years. I have some Shimano Citica E and Curado E for 10+ years. Never professionally serviced and they are still fishing great. Definitely time for a service though.
