I'm tearing one down for my bud. 4 years old, salt trips dozens of times (no immersions). NO sign of corrosion anywhere. I use SPEED X from U.S. Corrosion Tech. Inc. Micro drop on the inner surface of bearings. Can't wait to see how it casts. Great vid my friend.
Excellent video, thank you very much. I don't think I would have been able to put these reels back together without your help. I just got through tearing down concept Z #2 and about to start on #3 but this one has something broken. Do you know where I can find the replacement parts for these reels?
It has been a while since I have to order parts so I don't remember where I ordered the parts I looked up 13 fishing web sites and it has a costumer service number might try there the13fishing.com/
Thank you for making this video! Got my Inception SZ a few months ago and been fishing a lot of slop when I noticed the drag wasn't engaging really well. This video helped me get things working again. Now I know how to keep it clean and working like it supposed to.
Mr Mark, very informative. Much appreciated. I'm about to open mine up for cleaning. How would one know what parts to grease and what parts to lubricate? Thanks!
Thanks I put a light coat of grease on the drag parts and the gears and put oil on the other parts its up to you if you want to lube the bearings or not on the Z I have not been but next time I will just to see the difference it makes
Can you do a video on how to completely remove all hardware from Concept Z bait caster need to repair mines and replace the. Frame which includes all hardware being transferred to new frame, if possible i would truly appreciate it thanks for your time Mark I enjoy your videos
Mark could you please show a close up of what the washers look like when you say miss matched in the video it's when you put the star drag assembly back together getting ready to take mine apart thank you for the great vids
I don't know how to show you but you will see what I am talking about when you take it a part even if you put it different then you took it off it would still work I have done it and did not know it till the next time I cleaned it .
Hi mark ! I see the you been having the 13 fishing z a little over a year, I was just wondering how it’s been holding up, do to the fact I just purchased one a couple of days ago. Please let me know and thank you.
Mine was good except for the aluminum main gear did start to pit sooner then it should have . I had them send me a brass main gear and a pinion gear and now I think it will last a long time .
I have the Z and I had that same issue with the main gear chipping. Eventually it sheered off to the point where it could not engage with the pinion. Like u said..$13 dollars for a replacement. Still a bummer tho. My Shimano gears don’t have those issues. The quality metal they use for that gear is not very strong.
You may can take the cap off and pull the little c clip and pull the parts out and clean it if I remember right it has two tiny springs and two little dibits It is not that easy but it can be done .
It usually comes down to either dry bearings are worn out bearings so make sure to put Hey drop or 2 of oil on the bearings and try that I know you said you just serviced it sometimes I don't put oil on the bearings make it cast further but if it shatters you may have to add a little oil
Braver than i am stripping your reel down and putting it back together with other parts laying there! There's no telling what menagerie i would end up with LOL!
Thanks for video, question on my Z it does chatter when casting since I own 2 I swap out the spools and it stop chattering, so do you think the bearings are bad on spool , or maybe the spool shaft is bent ?
Hey mark, I just bought a concept Z and I noticed the handle doesn't spin all that smooth, I'll also probably have to tighten down the handle since it seems loose, it's brand new however, what should I do?
I would send it back if I could and get a Shimano Curado K . I love mine and have enough time fishing with it to say It will hold up for a long time . but if you picked up the Z cheap it is a good reel as well and I do love the break system but I had to replace the aluminum main gear I went with a brass replacement and it will hold up for a long time now .
I just watched the video back it been a long time so it is the drag nut sometimes I have to put the star drag and the handle back on and loosen it all the way up then take the handle off and then it will come off . It may be if the nut wont move the salt may have got to it and electrolysis set in it is aluminum and the part it is screwed on is brass sometimes that will happen .
The tiny dibit is what I call it in the video you may have to watch it back I talked about it close to the end . but don't worry if you lost it I did on one of mine and it still works fine . the star drag will not move . on its own .
@@marksfishingchannel9923 i watched a few times but i tough you were referring to the tiny spring which that’s the one i was keeping up with! dang it i drop the ball lol, Thank you again
it all depends on how many times you go out and if you get a lot of sand and dirt on it for sure clean it when it start to feel different . I clean mine about I time a month . sometime a little less .
i can pull line out of my concept z even though my spool is not open and spool is not taking in line but i can crank my handle (spool not spinning) can ya help me out?
