This has to be the easiest and most silent way to get some brine shrimp for a few small fish :D

Try adding one scoop of eggs per day for 3 days. You will be able to harvest every day twice a day for 5 or 6 days. Been doing this for more than a year. Reset after 6th day.

How do these shrimps breed? Would they keep reproducing ?

@CC-nt4zi they won't reproduce. The idea is to feed your fish the newly hatched shrimp while they still have their yolk sac and they are at their most nutritious.

I bought this thing and I love it. It makes everything easier. Easy to clean easy to grow just clean it out every three days. no air stones no huge bottle on my counter that can spill and make a mess. It’s simple and effective and CHEAP

I use canning salt. No additive and it's finely ground so it dissolves faster in water.

I'd seen this on Amazon etc, but I had assumed that a soda bottle was to be attached to the center. For someone like me who has only one tank, it looks interesting.

I had this system in 1970 but I switched to bottles because of lack of capacity if you have a lot of baby fish to feed! It’s only for small capacity. Also you can hatch more eggs with a lot of water flow. In this system only the best eggs get hatched. There is a lot of egg loss, also depending on the quality of the eggs of course. Eggs that I couldn’t hatch with this system hatched with the bottle system.

I love this hatchery - been using it for a few years and it's just perfect for the number of small fish and fry I have. Glad your fish is eating:). Wish I had some tips or tricks - hope someone else does.

They work great for smaller amounts. I keep two going with a reptile heater and change the water every five or six days.

Dani, I'm working on my tank soon but so far I have a planted tank, co2 injected with discus at 82 degrees. It can be done!! But yeah these guys were sick when I got them. They really have a lot of health problems.

I have this Hatchery and also a zist Hatchery. So glad you mentioned several times that it may not be for you that feed a lot or need a bunch. This Hatchery does well for small batches. Excellent video though very thorough.

sea or rock salt is non iodized and also helps if you put in 1 tablespoon of Epsom salts in with the 2 tablespoons of rock salt.. you'll get a better hatch rate. TRy it.. I keep an incandescent light globe over my one of these (I actually have 2) as it keeps them warmer and the more light the more BBS will collect in the basket..

Gday Danny. I am not a fish keeper but i like to know stuff saw your video and sea monkeys are always interesting so here I am. Nice work on the video and another way to hatch them always handy. I could probably make one out of a plastic bucket and an old tea strainer. As I said i like to know things and maybe how to make my own stuff. I am also big on Minimal equipment camping, blacksmithing and forging, stone napping and primitive hunting as well. I am retired as a stonemason now so i get to watch a lot of stuff. Again thank you for the video. P.S. I don't know where you are from or how long you have been speaking english but until you mentioned it, I thought you were American or Canadian. So I wouldn't be worried about it.

@@Danny-MOG I'm having a lot of fun feeding my fish. This is the only live food I've tried. It brings the fish to life. I feed them flake, pellets, and frozen blood worms and brineshrimp. Nothing makes them skip around the tank like bbs!

im lucky i live next to the ocean so i collect water from my beach and use a upside down coke bottle sitting in a jar as the base. works great and feeds lots of fry and fish. i looked at this but i dont think it would yield enough for my use.

They are a copy of an old school model. I used to put it in a heated airing cupbord to hatch them as a kid in Ireland. I think the brand was Hykro. Not 100% sure though

hey I knew you from the orchid channel, didn't know you had a fish channel! that's nice! and good review too! btw if you want it to be more fulfilling it's actually preferred to serve it as soon as they are hatched! baby brine shrimp's nutritional value decreases rapidly as soon as they start to grow and convert their initial yolk sac into energy to develop new body parts. in this process they can lose up to 50% in caloric value so it is not worth it. Best thing to do for the fish is to feed bbs right away! enrichment with feeding is only ever necessary when feeding adult brine shrimp (because they are already low in nutritional value as adults).

For me the yield of the hatchery improves a lot, if I use it with an airstone 😞 (I feed the tube through the spout in the open position).

Brine shrimp larvae won’t be able to eat before their second ecdysis … the don’t even have a mouth … so all letting them grow does is depleting their nutritional value until they actually grow beyond 3rd or 4th ecdysis … usually that is when most population collapse…. so feeding brine shrimp is quite pointless unless you’re interested in themselves. Normally you want to feed them as soon as possible after hatching, because you want to get as much as possible of their nutritional value into your fish

Sorry, is your water level too low now? Edit: White worm cultures are easy to keep and produces tons of live food. I used to have five decent cultures going when I had my fish.
