Good news everyone! VRM posing desktop just got an update that allows you to play all of your animations at the same time!!! so just make sure that both animations have the same amount of key frames, and they will align perfectly!
I really appreciate you not gatekeeping and sharing the things you’ve learned and methods you came up with. It’s awesome. I have all these programs and just never figured they could be used this way!!
Thank you so much. I'm really glad to hear that! I learned almost everything I know from RU-vid tutorials, so I'm really glad to give back to the community and teach people what I've learnt. It was one of my goals for this channel from the very beginning, so I'm really glad to hear that it helped you :)

Thank you for this great video you gave a lot of good information to me if you will need a voice actor for background characters with Russian/Middle Asia accents let me know keep going man your videos are great
yes in fact I figured out how to generate anime fire using fast noise that looks almost exactly like the fire from avatar if you can learn how to use fusion then you can do pretty much anything and I can compositor or can do and it's been used on lots of movies like Deadpool and stuff especially for its color grading@@PULPANIME
I remember when I was a kid there was an animation software called Pivot. It was made for making stick figure animations. I had a lot of fun playing with it, and thought it was really indicative of where animation software would one day go - having models that could be posed and adjusted within a space to create animation. VRM Posing looks like it's pretty much exactly what I thought of back then. Looks really interesting, might give it a try someday. I'm curious what program you use to create your models though? I know a lot of people use Blender, but yours don't quite have the look of Blender. Maybe MMD, Maya or the Goo Engine (which I think is an extension for Blender)?
I think I saw a friend of mine playing around with Pivot when I was a kid, too. And yeah, as far as i understand, the goo engine is an extension for blender, but I'm actually not using blender so much. Only for very basic stuff. I'm actually using a free software called Vroid to create the main characters. If you want, I even made a tutorial showing how I made one of the characters for my last RELM trailer. In my next tutorial, I'm gonna show how I convert 3d models to vrm, so you can use them in software like VRM Posing desktop. If you want, I'm also gonna publish today a poll asking what model you wish to see me converting to vrm, so you are welcome to vote on it if you are interested :)
Thank you so much for your offer! Unfortunately, I can't really afford to hire anyone for my videos, and I kinda feel bad asking people to do voice work without paying them. I know A.I. isn't as good, but for now, that's the only thing I can afford 😅
@@PULPANIME AI is plenty fine and while I'm not currently professional, I'm grateful for any opportunity to leave my mark somewhere. For now, payment is not necessary ^^ just keep me in mind. I voice in a sims 4 walking dead project right now.
Yes. I am recording in DSS. I actually had the same problem when I tried to record 60fps and settings start and end times for my recordings. For some reason, since the latest updates, these functions seem to cause problems. So I solved it by unchecking the 60fps function, and I just start the recording from the beginning and ending the recording manually. I'm almost done working on the third RELM trailer, and I used DSS to record a lot of its shots without any problem. I hope that helps :)
@@PULPANIME Yes, I have the same problem when using the DSS recording (60fps). Maybe I'll see you in discord if I have questions. Thanks. Keep it going👍
Not sure if you've covered this in another video before, I've looked and I don't think I've seen it but I could be missing it. How do you synchronize your fight scenes? I know you go through XR Animator > VRM posing > but it's not done at the same time?
Yeah, this is actually my biggest problem with VRM posing desktop. it is very hard to sync different animations together. you can try to pause and ply one animation track until it syncs with the other ones. but in general, i prefer to connect vrm posing desktop to another software called DSS with vmc protocol. then i record the animation over there, and then it is very easy to sync different animations with it's timeline. I haven't made made a video tutorial about it yet. and I'm afraid it will take me some time to get to it, because ive already promised to make a vrm conversion tutorial first. but the next tutorial after that will be about animation in DSS so until it will be ready, please feel free to ask me whatever you want, and i'll be glad to help :)
@@PULPANIME Thanks for getting back to me lol. I figured that might be the case. I found your channel because I play around a lot with vrm stuff xD I use unity for most alterations but I'm considering using it for animation. The only issue is that it's a lot for my 2 braincells to keep track of sometimes and I'm not sure if there's a way to animate blendshapes / lip sync with that. But that's the only option for keyframe type animation that I can think of, other than blender / mmd ;-;
Yeah. unity is a bit too much for me too. this is why I'm trying to avoid using it. for now at least, i'm pretty happy with the combination of VRM posing desktop and DSS. haha, if i'll ever find something easier or better, you can trust me that ill make a tutorial about that too ;) @@LagOfLore
@@PULPANIME honestly if the VRM Posing dev keeps at it, I think a keyframe editor will very likely be possible in the future lol. He's constantly updating the app. But for now the ways you've listed are great and I'm sure they'll help a lot more people. They definitely helped me. All great tutorials! The only thing I might avoid is the use of the AI voices / 360 environments.
Ok thank you so much for your feedback! By the way, i forgot to mention that if you really need to sync the animations of two characters without using dss, you can always record each animation with a green screen background and then sync them together in your editing software. it's not ideal, but it will get the job done ;)@@LagOfLore
Hahaha, just have fun and take your time playing with it for a little bit. It is honestly way easier than it looks once you get the hang of it. And if you have questions, feel free to ask :)
Sure. There is a speech to speech function, so you can read it exactly how you would like. Or you can slow it down later in your editing software. Just make sure to adjust the pitch after :)
@@PULPANIME I have recorded my own speech audio, talked smoothly in the vrm desktop, but when exported, no speech at all, just my avatar stood there in the ground. Another question, if using obs to game capture this vrm software, how to switch off the surrounding icons, then turn back on after the recording?
@damienkwok6361 I'm not sure what you mean in your first question. You need to import the audio to vseeface and then transmit the data to VRM_Posing_Desktop. I'm not sure which part of the process didn't work for you... Now, about your second question. There is a button on the bottom left of the screen in VRM_Posing_Desktop that will hide all of the icons. Then you can record your footage without then using softwares like obs. Then you can bring everything back by pressing either "enter" or your space bar. I don't remember which one it is. But it's very simple :)
Any aspirating animators out there looking for small-time freelance work? I'd be interesting in looking into hiring one for my art team - wonder where to find one - 2D or 3D
Hahaha, it's kind of weird, but I'm using Adobe After Effects to edit my photos. I know it's not supposed to be a photo editing app, but it's the tool that I'm the most proficient with 😅
Thanks!! I have another question actually, i was wondering how you get the avatars to move right and left on the x axis in vrm desktop / DSS? Similar to the way you do it in the fight scene at 1:21 of this video. I can move the camera with keyframes and I can move the characters poses, but how did you achieve that effect of actually walking backwards?@@PULPANIME
Oh, that's pretty easy. The trick is not to move the entire model with it's controller, but to animate the root bone instead. you can access it with the "customize pose" button. it's pretty hard to miss it (it's the big red one) And even if you record an animation with vmc protocol, you can add this sort of movement later when you edit your key frames. that's what I did in this specific example that you asked about. I hope that helps :) @@glitchxrr3919
Hi. I don't believe there is a free version of VRM Posing desktop. But if you want to start making vroid animations for free, you can download the free version of DSS (I have a link to it in my latest DSS tutorial) or you can download a free software called "vrm pose transmitter" if you want to do very simple pose to pose animations and send it vseeface
But overall, I do recommend buying vrm Posing desktop because it is relatively an affordable one-time purchase, and I do use it a lot. But again, if you can only afford a free software, I would recommend trying the free version of DSS
No, it's not free. I think it costs about 12 dollars, if I remember correctly. But it is a one-time purchase, and you can always wait for a steam sale if you hope to get a discount :)
Is there a free animation program? Like i currently use blender but the rigging and such is so hard, i wanna create easy fight scenes but free if that is possible, with a program as easy as dan sing sing, where you can directly yeet your vmd model in, without having to export it as anything else. Is that possible?
Unfortunately, I can't really recommend anything that is like DSS because I wasn't able to find anything that is as easy to use. however, there is actually an earlier version of DSS available for download completely for free at the booth page of it's creator! It doesn't have all of the features that I'm showing in my videos (I believe it lacks the VMC protocol function, and the 360 image function), but it has enough useful features to get you started, and to figure out if you even like creating animations with this software. I'll try adding the link in my next comment, because youtube sometimes delete's it @@aRandomTalkingMushroom
