When you measure resistance, you dont touch both leads with your bare hand as your reading will include your body resistance in parallel

That's the tap wire(the wire is wiggle worm on the left and the right it has a sharp bend on it on the aka bent coat hanger which has 7 end of it it's the same wire thats attaches the plastic egg which leads to the tree in the park aka Z tree. Inam

Is grounding a wire needed when what you’re trying to apply it with comes with a red and black wire, for example Tacoma grill lights, I have a harness wired up but would like to know if grounding is necessary and how to do so in correlation to the way you did this.
@Electronzap
@Electronzap 3 года назад
I haven't done any vehicle wiring so not a good person to ask, but generally speaking, the red wire should connect to positive side of the battery and the black wire to the negative side of the battery in some way. Negative side of the battery should be connected to the vehicle frame which I believe is called chassis ground as far as the electronics goes. These connectors may let you tap into other wires but I'd be careful that nothing gets messed up in the process. Hopefully there's DIY videos/websites for that exact project.

Hi there, I have a question. Can I use those connectors for outdoor projects, like landscaping?. Thanks in advance
@Electronzap
@Electronzap 2 года назад
I wouldn't think so, they don't seem to be watertight. You'd probably have to search for outdoor connectors specifically.
@LuckieStripes
@LuckieStripes Год назад
So when connecting the first part of the T-tap connector I don’t I have to strip the plastic off the wire right to get a good connection? I thought it might mess with the connection
@Electronzap
@Electronzap Год назад
Not suppose to have to strip off the insulation. I haven't done any serious testing to see how good of a connection it makes yet.

If I t-tap positive to positive and negative to negative, will it be a complete circuit or does the ground still need to be grounded somewhere else?
@Electronzap
@Electronzap 2 года назад
When it comes to batteries, you just want them to have the same voltage (no more than 0.1V different) when you connect them together. And then usually the negative side of the batteries is considered the 0V reference point ground as far as any circuit attached to that battery bank is concerned.

Hi is it ok to connect more then one t tap connector to a wire?
@Electronzap
@Electronzap 5 месяцев назад
I would think so, as long as you don't use too much current.
@techmetal2292
@techmetal2292 2 года назад
First of all these are not designed for solid wire, second of all measuring resistance on a wire with no current flowing doesn’t tell you anything, you need to measure voltage drop

Does the straight end of the wire get cut when the connecter is clamped down on it?

I don't think so. But, spade connectors are usually tough to get off. So, it's probably a solid connection for as long as you want.

how can you tell quality spade connectors from the bad ones??
@Electronzap
@Electronzap 3 года назад
I don't know. I've never heard that there were bad ones and I almost never play around with them. I read customer reviews and if complaints about a cheaper product seem legitimate, I try to figure out if it is still good enough for the price, or if I would rather buy a more expensive brand with better reviews.

100% textbook wrong how you measured. You are never never supposed to measure with your hands. You basically measured the resistance in your body.

Do not by any means use these crappy T connectors. These are some of the worst connectors available, not only are they not practical because of how large the connector is but it's also the least amount of surface area that you could provide for your connection.
