I recently purchased an electronic accessory for my bike that came with these connectors. I was a bit skeptical at first, and there were no instructions on how to actually use the connectors, but in the end it all worked out nicely, and I think these are a great product. I'm sure your review and demonstration here will help others with their application and use.

How big of a difference or no difference at all with postiaps vs soldering two wires together? I bought a product for my car and I used positaps, and it's not performing as well as it should, i contacted the manufacturer, and they said to soldering/weld the wires together rather than using positaps. Meth or bust?

+den525 That's kind of difficult to answer. You can take the time to do a correct soldered wire join and then protect the solder joint correctly. Sometimes that is difficult or even dangerous to do in the confines of a car or motorcycle. And it is possible for the soldered connection to fail also, for a variety of reasons. I can say that I have been using Posi-Locks and Posi-Taps for many years and never had a failure. It has to be done correctly. I'm not sure what problem you are having, but if you tap into another wire using the correct size and procedures, it should work. Maybe you are getting some moisture into the connection?

webBikeWorld Thanks for the reply. Long story short, it's a piggyback tune, which needs to connect two wires to the car's CANBUS. I bought a bunch of different sizes positaps and followed the procedures and IMO did it correctly. The "failure" is not the positaps. The piggyback tune is not performing as well as it should, and the first thing the manufacturer said was how I connected the the CANBUS wires, and I said positaps, and they said they've had "issues" with that, and asked me to solder the wires together instead of positaps. Anyways, I don't think the Positaps is a problem, as car is not throwing any fault codes, so everything should be "connected" via the tune module. If positaps are done "incorrectly" the wiring won't be connected correctly from the car to the tune module right? Therefore it should throw fault codes... Read somewhere that the connection via positaps might be "weak" therefore it's connected and signals aren't transferring as well as it should? therefore car/tune box will continue to work but not well? (imo highly unlikely).

+den525 Hmmm...I find it hard to believe that, either a connection works or it doesn't, the electrons flow through or they don't. Seems hard to believe that only a few electrons flow through, so the connection is "weak". That's like being just a little bit pregnant. It's all or nothing!

webBikeWorld That's what I thought... but they insisted it should be soldered or else it hasn't been installed properly. Anyways, thanks for the info.

Will these work for model RR builds?
@webbikeworld

Yes, any wires, they'd be perfect for that because if you have to move the wires, change the wiring or experiment with different wiring, you can reuse the Posi-Locks over and over.

I am going to use #14 wire so I would want the blue in the Posi-lock. Do I also use the blue for the posi-tap?

or the black untapered.

Jack Bogan I'd probably go with the 14-16 blue Posi-Locks and the blue Posi-Taps. Contact me via the website for more info www.webbikeworld.com/sale/posi-locks-for-sale.htm

Hmm, great product however I disagree that it is "safer" than soldering. If I want something to be permanent and I don't need to change I will solder it and shrink tube it.

By "safer", I meant not having to use heat and electricity around a motorcycle, fuel tank, etc.

ahh.. I see! For the record, these are the only connectors that I want to use now after using them for the first time about a year or so ago.
