Plenty of empty retail spaces with extremely low rent in SF for the bagel chain to expand. London Breed has done an amazing job of reimmaging the city.

Whoa! I've met Emily Winston at Eva & Sarah's house in Richmond in 2022! I recall the bagel conversation! What a trip! I should BART up to Boichick Bagels for an East Coast bagel. I was born in New England - near Boston - lived there until age 9.

why is the owner not wearing a hat or hairnet? nor the reporter visiting a the food facility. glad to see shes boiling those bagels, but is that boiling vat big enough for her production?

@RU-vidhndl if you think reporter isn't wearing a hair net, u think the camera guy who is standing next to the racks, the ovens, dough roller etc is wearing a hat or hair net? I think not.

THAT is great news. Hopefully she can get a very long lease in San Francisco so she doesn't get a huge rent raise in a few years. Hope she goes up to Sonoma County. I never go to the City anymore and my family is in Cotati and friend in Petaluma so would love to see her up there and I know they would too. Nothing beats a great bagel in the morning.

@@HanginInSFthey absolutely are. I process payroll for multiple companies in the city who pay below $20/hr.

@@sethborne Current SF minimum wage is $18.07/hr (effective July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2024). California's new minimum wage is $16.00/hr (effective January 1, 2024), with the exception of $20.00/hr for "fast food restaurant employees" starting April 1, 2024. (Some other exceptions apply also.)

@kathyw4811 you told me absolutely nothing new. I process payroll for dozens of people making less than $19 who physically work in the city. Many others who are support staff operating remotely and are paid less. I.e. If they have a warehouse in Livermore they will pay less.
