As a former resident of Cleveland, Ohio let me say that this is what happens to many cities as they age. And if you look really closely at these neighborhoods in this video, you can tell that there was once quite a bit of money around when these neighborhoods were new. The buildings are large and were well built; many probably a hundred years old by now. Many ornate features still exist on many of these buildings.
And what's crazy is Euclid Ave which is a part of East Cleveland was once called Millionaires row. A lot of wealthy individuals used to live in East Cleveland in the early 1900's.
Grew up in Canton, live in Kent and work in Cleveland. It's amazing to think that this was once one of the greatest cities in the country to live in. With parts of Cleveland labeled "Millionaire Row" in its history. Its hard to see that people are truly stuck living like this.
I live on the much eastern side, not much in the city or even suburbs; I work in the east side. The police advise people to run stop signs day or night. I watch your videos often. I’m surprised you actually came here! Sometimes it’s so neglected of a small city that people all over the midwest forget how bad Cleveland really is for how busy it is. The west side is a whole different world. Stay safe.
I was born here. (Currently live like 45 mins away in Akron, but moving out of state soon). Whole miserable fam live there still. Watching on vid how fucked up it really is gives me an entirely different perspective/gratitude for being gone, and moving on!
Nope But There Is A Sudden Line You Cross When Leaving East Cleveland Into A Neighboring Suburb That Almost Resembles Beverly Hills The Change Of Scenery Is Instant 😂
Good work, sir. Interesting project you've assigned yourself. I'm wondering how you started doing this. Because you are from Detroit, you'll recognize my hometown....Inkster. I grew up there in the 50's. I'm a baby-boomer, probably old enough to be at least your parent's age, if not your grandparent's age. My parents were from Detroit. We visited relatives there all the time. My grandfather's house was on Vaughn, near Schoolcraft and Evergreen. The house is gone, now, but when I was a kid, my cousins and I would visit frequently. I remember that even then, Detroit's streets and neighborhoods were in decline. And then....the riots happened. After that, Detroit's decline was quite rapid. It's sad to see what has happened in Detroit. I can't make comments about it's condition now. No need for me to say anything, it's all there for the seeing on your videos, not to mention the tv, internet, etc. I read the comments you get, too. People are rough in what they say, sometimes. Sorry for the length of my comment. I just want to tell you that I enjoy your videos. All of them, not just the ones of Detroit. They resonate within me.
@@ContempIated things were bad in the olden days, too, kiddo. We had all the same problems then as we do now, its just that there are so many more of we humans now than then, so troubles increase expnentially. Poverty, crime, drugs, gangs, domestic violence, war, etc. Are you from the Detroit area?
Agreed. Most of Milwaukee's buildings look the same as Cleveland's. Only difference is our south side has a lot of cream colored bricks. That's why we used to be called Cream City. But the architecture is basically all the same as other major cities
St.Louis doesn't look like this at all. There's much more brick in our city. And many of our buildings are much older. At least a couple of the ones shown in the St.Louis videos are over 150 years old, while most of these are about 80-100.
America is a nation that if you put in the work you can definetly succeed but if you choose to be lazy anda welfare case then you end up in these type areas.
Democrats don't know how to run cities. They're all crooks. Almost every major city in America that looks like this has been run by Democrats for decades. You can look it up if you don't believe me.
@@414ruckmylifeMKE Brew knows what he's talking about. It's basic economics. I've posted this in another one of these videos but I'll copy and paste anyway. ________________________________________________________________________________ Keep voting for democrat and you will be paying through your teeth and not see economic changes. Instead you will see degradation, more poorer public education, bad infrastructure etc etc. Keep voting for the side that wants to give handouts and not provide incentive to work, the cycle will not only continue but the child birth rate will continue to increase and take an even greater toll on the tax payers. Whenever the government puts their hands on something it's value "goes up" but it's quality goes down. Keep things privatized for better competition, lower prices, and higher quality. It's basic economics. For the record, I am not suggesting you vote republican either, they are just as insane as the left. Vote for whoever wants a smaller government and more free market.
Ohio is republican and always will be. But they split tax dollars between good parts of the cities, and bad parts. West side cleveland isn’t bad, high revenue and good landscape; east side is neglected and partially abandoned. The tax dollars go to keep those who live in rich neighborhoods upkeep. It’s sad. Democrats pocket money for themselves and republicans only go head to head with those who have money... no safe place for lower class or even “middle class” people in the USA, funny how we fight over two parties when they don’t benefit all of us, just a select few.
Wondering if you’ve ever considered doing a podcast? I sure would be interested in hearing your views/opinions. Great videos though... Keep em coming...
Wow. A repaved block with new curbs and sidewalks at 9:03. No houses, but it looks like there's a lawn and landscaping plus a walking path. I'm sure a bunch of people can't wait to get out and jog in the neighborhood.
My husband's mother lived in Detroit during the 70s and it was beautiful back then. We visited her often and my children loved it. I can't believe it would break down like it has.
@Seiki Swably yeah I hear you funny though cause I never even heard of Colombus because they don't have any pro teams so little did I know that it's by far the biggest city in Ohio
Between this city and Detroit, I'm not sure which one is the worst, I think this city is worse than Detroit. And the streets look just as bad as the city they need to be paved. It looks abandoned.
@@myfartskillsmoths9114 I don't recall and do not care what was discussed between you or others because everyone's opinions differ. Furthermore I didn't bother to read everyone else comments or what was discussed. Fuck outta here idiot.!!!
This is just the CITY of East Cleveland. The rest of Greater Cleveland is beautiful. Detroit looks like this on the East, West and Southwest sides. Metro Detroit is far worse! Michigan roads are worse than Ohio.
These videos are interesting and well made. I'm from the north of Ireland and the depravation on display here is more severe than where I grew up in the 1980's during a conflict. I guess this is what happens when you hand out trillion dollar tax cuts and spend more than $600 billion every year on your military instead of investing in your poorest communities.
Decades of globalist policies that led to the destruction of the manufacturing industry caused this. Trump is actually reversing the trend. Between 2017 and 2018 the manufacturing sector added 284,000 jobs; the largest annual growth in the manufacturing sector in more than two decades. A complete reversal from Obama's tenure as president which saw the industry lose over 300K jobs. This turnaround was a key promise of Trump's campaign that helped him flip from blue to red the rust-belt states needed to win the election. And he has delivered.
Globalization of our market economy, Democratic party putting wealthy in one area and the poor in another, blacks(sorry to say it. They aren't necessarily bad people I'm not tryna be racist.), Motor companies shutting down causing a shortages of jobs and crime rates being to high in big cities
Cleavland was thriving in the 50s 60s and 70s and now this is what its like.. it's better in downtown and western cleavland tho. It's just the east suburb that's this bad
Дома слишком (очень) близко друг к другу стоят => нет личного свободного пространства. Надо делать: один дом => на семью и следовательно еще выделить не меньше 9 соток земли в пользование.
Smh if it was that easy there wouldn’t be any ghettos duh? Ask your people why some of our neighborhoods like this infiltrated it with crack . East Cleveland was founded by John d Rockerfeller.
East Cleveland barely gets garbage collected. City services are a joke. Police and fire are there but very outdated equipment and employees do their own repairs. Government in East Cleveland is corrupt and greedy
DAMN, this is one hell of a depressing city. Do they have a mayor? If so what the hell are they doing for East Cleveland? What about the city counsel board, or community board members trying to do for this city. This city looks like it's in bad shape. East Cleveland needs to be saved, and saved quick. So Sad!!!
Doesn’t matter if it’s a suburb it still can be dangerous don’t let the word “suburb” fool ya look at Euclid not far from East Cleveland crime is climbing up there as well.
I recently drove through some of Cleveland, Ohio's hoods and have a video of it on my channel. I fuck with this channel and other driving channels like J Utah, freewayjim, and shit!
This is a very small part of cleveland. And its East Cleveland (a different city. Not the east side of Cleveland). Although it is on the east side of cleveland lol
Are you going to drive through the area where the Paul Brothers grew up and go to the Ohio Fried Chicken Team 10 visited to make Jake's video? That'd be the biggest hood you've ever been to bro.
I'm from Dakar Sénégal West Africa in a middle class family, but this hood here looks like exactly the small countrytown of my grandpa's hometown and we used to call it the Suburbs back then😅😂😃I mean like wtf?✌💯
