I borrowed this idea from Wranglestar for ice boots. I ran one half inch metal roofing screws around the bottom of the soles near the outer edges. I put two by the toes, one on each side. Two halfway back, one on each side and one per side about one inch from the back of the heel. I wouldn't advise running but a normal walking pace is pretty easy to manage. I've been on ice about 4 times now and have been able to stay upright. One piece of advice. Don't wear them into the house further than the inside door mat. The wife gets really POed. Info all comes from personal experience. I still appreciate Wranglestar for this tip.
I am a small engine mechanic who works on generators, You may want to build a bit of a shelter for your generator to keep the rain off, not only does it damage the gen head, rainwater can seep into your gas through the vents on the fuel tank.
Jim it looks like you are well prepared. I hope there is no damage and the power is restored soon. We are getting freezing rain here. Lots of flooding last weekend. My son's basement flooded but at least his insurance is covering all the damages.......Take care, Bluefin.
@@AvoidingChores so far only rain. The freezing glitter on the trees has melted now but still windy and rain now. No power outages. You have a great setup with the generator hookup and extra panel. I hope everything went well last night.
@@mustang774 we made out ok, power came back after 3 hours but went dark again overnight. By morning power was restored. I’ll leave the generator plugged until tomorrow just in case.
Nice CanAm! Have been using your channel for my new Garmin Montana. Thanks for all the info you provide. We were lucky down here on the South Shore (Brooklyn). Nothing but rain until early this morning. Generator is sleeping in today... So far. Haha
Glad the montana vids were helpful! I’ll be mounting my Montana on the Can-am very soon! More vids on that ride once things thaw 🤣. Lots of ice on the lines and some were very droopy this morning between Tantallon & Bedford. Generators may yet get another workout today!
Jim you need to make your self a simple plywood box/cover for the genorator,, will keep the switch panel dry.. lots of ideas on youtube.. we lost power Thrusday for 6 hours .. good so far this time.. I you ever need help with the Genorator let me know been using them for years
Were you looking over my shoulder?? because that was exactly what the missus said I should be searching for this morning to make myself a bit more useful 🤣 Glad you made it ok with the storm
@@AvoidingChores I am going to build one for my son as soon as I can get some wood.. I just bought him a thru the wall Gen Plug like I use.. we run smaller Champions....run whats needed as we are on city water..be sure to use High test gas. oh love the new toy LOL.. I upgraded my boat last year.
@@fishingfitzgeralds9493 It took a while to figure how big we needed to run the bare minimum, so this 5500W seems to be the right fit. Despite the paint job, the engine has Champion badge on it. I made sure to get the good fuel to run it. Let me know how you make out with the box. Todays project was getting it loaded into the toy using the winch and rope hoist for easy & safe transport for the time being.
