EPISODE 66.
Back to work on Tally Ho! After returning to the West Coast, I start by planing and bolting the beam shelf scarps joints. In the process, I buy a vintage pipe threading machine and use it to thread the bolts.
After a 3500 mile journey across the USA, a Pink Fireman arrives with a trailer-full of White Oak for TALLY HO’s deck beams, which we unload with the help of a forklift and a stubborn parrot. It’s good to be back!

I am 80 and have serious back issues - so I am pretty much stuck indoors. Over the last two years, I have learned to turn off my TV and watch RU-vid. I spend between 8 and 12 hours a day, subscribe to many channels and follow some of the best - but Sampson Boat Co is absolutely the top of the list! Leo is one of a kind, both in knowledge, wisdom and talent. And Poncho is also a star, the most entertaining pet of any channel. I have no money to send Leo a gift - but I may send him a comb someday... 😏

I understand your lifestyle. I’m 70 with COPD and lower back problems too. I can’t do much also and I got into watching RU-vid and found many Cruising and Sailing shows for 12/14 hrs. a day. Just about 3 weeks ago I found Leo, the Tally Ho and all of Leo’s 2 and 4 legged friends and the Parrot of the NorthWest and last but not least the chickens! I truly wish my health was in good enough shape to come out and help, aid and support Leo and his Dream, maybe in my next life!

I must assume I'm somehow getting some sawdust in my eyes through my internet connection because episodes like this always makes my eyes water up for some reason...I'm forced to keep tissues nearby for the eyeball run off in my nose....Hey, doesn't happen to me very often since I'm just a harda$$ 70 year old Nam era vet that isn't moved by much. You truly are an inspiration to many...which is amply shown by the donations of gifts, money and labor....Sadly, I'm also financially challenged... the type whose idea of a retirement fund is to play the lottery...if i ever hit, I promise to send you a BIG chunk!! Thank you, Leo for showing us that despite any obstacle ....If you dream hard enough and continue to strive forward...you CAN succeed!!!! Also a tip of my hat to Marshall, not only for his donations to you of time and equipment, but for his dedication to saving lives as a firefighter....Your stories and actions give me hope for the future of our Country... despite the political upheavals today.....discussions of which are never appropriate here...even if never far from mind...!

It's amazing how people come out of the woodwork to support Leo in his rebuilding of the TALLY HO. Also a big shout out to the fellow who bought Leo the 7" Makita Hand Planer. That was an amazing contribution and you can see how important a roll it has played in the work done during this video. Another big shout out to Leo himself for beginning the restoration on the bolt threading machine. Getting that machine up and running to produce threaded brass bolts was an impressive accomplishment. I also have to take my hat off to your master craftsmanship Leo. Those scarf joints are the same quality has the most expert Japanese wood joinery. Well done, Marshall. This is the true meaning of 'community'. People helping people. Projects like Tally-Ho are far more than the sum of the parts. Simply building a boat brings together innumerable people who combine in a spirit of support that truly humbles me as a mere observer. Tally-Ho is a symbol of achievement and humanity, more than sweat, blood and tears. Gives me warm fuzzies.

I'm so jealous. Back when logistics was needed for some live oak boards out of Georgia to Washington, I volunteered to move it but I didn't real;ly have the equipment to do it. I'm so glad you found Marshall or he found you. Great way to move the white oak.
