East Van Memories 1950's - 1970's

Great pics ! Not an East Van kid [Montreal and ON], but just like my 50's - 60's childhood and youth... An uncle who had a small farm in Timmins ON boarded the Shetland pony for one of those photographers, I would try to ride but the pony usually balked... LOL

@2:30ish I remember the pony photo-op that Beaconsfield Elementary offered early-60s. @3:19, I knew Danny W. from my Trout Lake daze of the 60s. @3:58 I spent many a day walking into Grandview Community Center Ice Rink with my hockey gear over my shoulder! @6:30 the kid with the freckles looks SO familiar? @7:54 the China Creek Bike Oval a few blks west of Clark dr. on 8th ave. @9:16, not sure which entrance to the PNE, but probably the east Main Entrance by Playland? I worked the rides 1967ish. @31:01 Wally's on Kingsway was where my older bro hung out! @15:27 Pete Black was my PE teacher at Gladstone. He was a HOF lacrosse player also! Tough on us kids but whipped us into shape running the track!
