Mick Cartel coming back from the dead could be a realistic storyline because his body hasn’t been found and he could be suffering from amnesia.

a lot of people watched the old run of Eastenders on a Gold channel last Christmas and were discussing these characters on twitter etc then so that's probably where they got the idea

At this rate they should rename the show to Deadenders!

Cindy was an amazing character so am not surprised they are bringing her back

The hypothetical situations you given do sound like ways it could work and the whole gangster situation is entirely plausable, given Walford's reputation for fatal gang encounters, such as Paul Truman and Vincent Hubbard's deaths as more easy ones to remember. However you are on the money about the impact of her return, most characters needed to create tension are absent except for Bobby who Cindy would have an absolute hatred for for killing her pride and joy, while there is also Kathy for obvious reasons. Max Branning would also be a potential as he slept with Lucy and there is his history toward Ian, although whether them meeting would have been one of animosity or something different would be largely up in the air from those details. One character that could have an interesting impact if written properly is David Wicks, Ian's half-brother and Cindy's affair from the past. It could be one of fond memories or one of animosity that could see David attempt to help Ian against a bad influence. Sadly I don't think they'd bring him back without Bianca's brood, but in saying that, Liam is in a relationship with Cindy Jr.....if Cindy returns Liam would return sans any convenient breakup off screen and part of me wants to believe David would have an investment in protecting his grandchild.

I wish Janine was still on the show. It would be cool to see the biggest bitches in Walford history go toe-to-toe. To your point - it would make more sense for Chrissie Watts to come back. Sam (Kim Medcalf), Sharon and Kat - are all in Walford. Bringing her back would have more history to unpack. She wanted revenge on all of them. I liked Thomas Law's Peter and Whitney as a couple. Peter was the underdog who couldn't get the girl.

Here's how it happens, Eastenders is fucking shit and routinely kills characters off and tries to bring them back.

I would have prefered it to be a surprise. This is a massive deal. Michelle Collins is great. The awful storyline between Ian and Sharon ruined their friendship and that is a shame. It said on the 1st June episode that the Knights mother was dead or so I think but there was a focus on a music box. Made me think Lucy. But George Knight was on the phone to a mystery person. Back in the 90s, Eastenders was so gritty.

Tiffany Mitchell should’ve had a storyline of faking her death it would make more sense: to get away from Grant

I read she is coming back with a history of being in a relationship with one of new owners of the Queen Vic, so there will be a whole new history there, presumable based around her absence. In the anniversary episode when Kathy returns, I was actually hoping for Cindy and thought it a bit pointless bringing Kathy back. I think Cindy has a lot more dramatic possibilities, to be the square's bitch now that Janine is no longer around. Cindy's is the one return over all others I had hoped for and thought would never happen because lets face it, how many people in one square could possibly have faked their deaths?

I really liked Bobby and Dana. Really hope she returns! Cindy is ok, but it would’ve been nicer with Jane.

I think a better choice would have been to find a way to bring back Ronnie and Roxie, who should never been killed off in the first place. I think Eastenders has suffered as a result of that decision.

It will only be interesting if she can reunite with her daughter Cindy Jr. Peter is boring so don't care if he comes back.

Great review showing the Pros and cons. EE are talking a Gamble on this bringing another character back from the dead. It could really damage the shows credibility. On the other hand it could be plausible based on this theory that Cindy faked her death as she did die offscreen. In retro spect killing Cindy and Kathy off screen ine first place was such a waste!

Why is Cindy returning to Walford? Er, well, the show's producers are desperate to return the show to the days when it was vaguely any good and Michelle Collins presumably needs the work. Mystery solved.

I’ve wanted Jane to return, but I guess it’ll be complicated, she had a spinal cord injury, as someone who has a spinal cord injury, it never goes away, it’s a life long condition, and having an actress using a wheelchair full time on the show would be hard work I guess, ie general access of buildings in the square and a non full time wheelchair user using a chair, I’ll tell you it’s not easy, until you get used to it, although I have noticed a drop curb has been put in outside the vic, so maybe she will come back. I know Donna managed, but she was a full time user and she was in an electric chair which is easier, although I guess they could put Jane in one 🤷🏼‍♀️ ….. but this is eastenders, and “miracles” happen 🤣 they’d probably bring her back with a clean bill of health, if they can bring Cindy back from the dead they can do anything.

Ronnie and Roxie can’t come back as we SAW them die. Not like Kathy, Cindy or Mick. Obviously will have ramifications for the Beale’s as Bobby is trying to get everyone back for the wedding but it’s to push forward the story of the newly arrived Knights, Cindy pretended for years to be his wife and both girls are Cindy’s daughters!

Why? For what earthly reason? Jon Sen and Kate Oates are destroying a once brilliant programme with this! They don't seem to understand the meaning of the word "dead"! Cindy was a great character played to perfection by Michelle Collins, but she left 25 years ago and has barely been mentioned since. Why not bring back a character who is definitely still alive such as Jane or Tanya? Bringing a dead character back so long after the event is so unnecessary.

Honestly, I don’t care how ridiculous or messy it would be but they REALLY need to bring Ronnie and Roxy back. There’s always been something missing since their departure and the Mitchell’s are REALLY lacking with the matriarchs and female presence right now. They’ve killed off Lola and yes while we still have Sam, and while I’ve always loved Kim Medcalf over Daniela Westbrook in the role, Sam just doesn’t have the power to really fill Peggy’s shoes and never has. She’s always been the ditzy embarrassment of the family making messes with her mother and brothers right there cleaning up after her.

The elephant in the room that your video doesn’t really touch on is also that, for a period of time, pretty much every character who left EastEnders left in hearse rather than in the back of a taxi. (Here, I’m thinking more of the Mitchell Sisters, rather than Cindy). Deaths used to be shocking, rather than commonplace. As a result, there are a huge cohort of characters who, should they wish to bring them back, they will need to reverse their deaths. This not only requires a lot of retconning - with varying degrees of credibility- it also limits the initial impact of character deaths on screen as death essentially has no stakes in EastEnders, as it can be undone at the stroke of a pen

My theory is witness protection, Pat knew the truth but had to lie to everyone. She served a few years for attempted murder under a new name. Then met George and they had a quick pregnancy with the oldest Knight daughter then got married and had the second. We don't know when the Knights moved to Marbaya (dont know how to spell that) its unlikely a convicted criminal would be allowed to move abroad so that likely happened after she left them. She may have tried to go back to the square nine years ago, was spotted by the people she is hiding from so had to go in hiding again and didnt want to put her children (knights) in danger so didnt get in contact. Ian found her while on his travels and they rekindled their relationship.

A clip from 2007 has resurfaced where in the cafe three of Cindy's children are discussing their Mum, Steven, Peter and Lucy, who says maybe their Mum didn't die, and that she is out there waiting for them. She is saying that their Mum could have faked her death, and their Dad lied to them or didn't know himself.
