The impression of Harold might be the most accurate impression anyone has ever done of anybody, ever.

Brilliantly done. Not only were the impressions spot on, but the idea of melding the characters of Dot and Nick with Albert and Harold was genius.

I never would have thought of having a crossover between Eastenders and Steptoe and Son if I hadn't seen it, but on reflection, it's quite excellent on Alistair McGowan's part. Quite aside from the fact that Dot Cotton could indeed sound like Albert Steptoe when she spoke in lower tones and the fact that both characters could have convenient bouts of illness when the occasion called for it, the love/hate relationship that they had for their respective sons was very cleverly observed. There's even the fact that Harold Steptoe threatened to kill his father repeatedly in the series and that Nick Cotton made an attempt on his mother's life on at least two occasions. (And yes, the impression of Harold Steptoe, even while he's made to look like Nick Cotton, is excellent, as most have already noted.)

I just watched a whole episode of Steptoe and Son and Alistair McGowan has done his homework on his very accurate impression of Harold. Brilliant.

Just shown my 13 year old who is new fan of Steptoe and son he says the Harold impression is absolutely chuggin golden

Absolutely spot on! He's an amazing talent, wish we had more like him on these days. I remember a spoof of Eastender set in Belgium called Ostenders, but can't find any mention of it now. Unless I imagined it.

Excellent stuff - so accurate. A bit random but if anyone is interested Stanley Baxter did a skit with the Original Upstairs (original). There are certain impressions where it so outsanding you can see the effort and love put into it. :)

The ending is right, since Harold did end up killing Albert.

Lol this is so funny and great impressions of the original characters. This is much better and funnier than that awful Steptoe and Son episode remake.

i dont like the impressons but bloody hell they got the set just right ! even the props are great! it must of took ages to get that set looking right !

Can we have the likes of Alistair McGowan and Tracey Ullman back on TV again? Can we have some seasoned acts instead of endless trashy reality TV?

His Harold is mostly rather good, but at times he loses the voice. His Albert is nowhere near close...

I really could never see anything funny in Alister McGowan. All his voices sounded pretty much the same and very VERY rarely near who he was supposed to be taking off of. It does seem most of the times the only way you know who he is doing is by the surroundings/the way he dressed. Maybeit's because I am a DIE hard fan of Steptoe and son, but these impressions are very poor. I have seen amateurs in a cheap holiday night club sound more like Albert & Harold and they didnt need a 'scene' budget.
