Having swallowed my pride, I applied for the electronic arrival card (essentially an E-Visa in disguise) and travelled to Georgetown in Penang.. This older Sibling of the Raffles Hotel in Singapore was founded by the Sarkies Brothers, and had been utilized and loved by numerous famous people, such as: Somerset Maugham, Charlie Chaplin, Rudyard Kipling,Rita Hayworth,Prince Charles,Karl May,Herman Hesse, Michelle Yeow,William Holden,Lee Kwan Yuew, and Orson Wells, among many others.
