Not academically correct but these are the main differences among most people. Too many people are worried about being politically correct but you are brave to speak out.
I’m American and I will never put my parents in an assisted living home. After Everything They’ve done for me throughout my 31 years so far, it’s the least I can do.
I live in the west but prefer the culture of Asia. I think if the west adopted more values like this then there would be more respect and less hatred and crime
I used this in my class in Hebei province, China, and students said it was rather stereotyped... especially in the comments about marriage. They said arranged marriages are not common in modern China, rather, blind dates are a way colleagues and family help young people find a partner.
One thing i've noticed: West: We are developed country. we are 1st class country. We fight for freedom & human rights. You must do what we do. East: Oh, I understand if you won't do it. I won't force you. *Just an example*

Westerners are usually Christians, Jewish or Muslims. The elders make decisions for their family in eastern cultures, while western people are free to make decisions on their own. In Eastern cultures, people take care of their parents when they grow old. Arranged marriages are common in Eastern cultures, as they believe that love comes after marriage. Easterners' education system is more rigid and values hard work over creativity. Easterners make more money because of this. Easterners see students are information receivers, not participants in the learning process. Kids with special needs are taught in isolation.
I know i grew up in the West but I like the West better. Although both cultures and ways of teaching generally brings forth their own +’s and -‘s I believe it’s really good to take what you will from either side to live the best live you can perceive.
Im an American I say no culture is right or wrong. No culture is better or worst. They are just different. U kno most cultures in the East more women are stay at home housewives and mothers while the men work. Where here in the West most families are double income where parents couples works and take care of kids. In the East most men and women can’t live together unless they are married. Where here in the West there are many unmarried couples that live together. When it comes sex u kno in the East The topic is taboo so it’s talked and discussed openly. They not many schools that teach Sex Ed like most schools here teach it. Pornography and most adult businesses are legal in most Western nations where in the East they’re mostly illegal. When it comes to TV and Films a lot of American and Western movies will get edited in Eastern countries if they are too graphic with the violence, have bad language, nudity or talk about subjects that can deemed inappropriate and sensitive to the cultures because they have abide cultural norms. Like when some countries watch an American they have alternate ending and name of the movie. Plus u know in most Eastern cultures it’s common for adult children to still live with their parents. Like it’s not a big deal to them while here in the West parents want their kids to move out when they become adults. They don’t want their kids living with them unless it’s a serious health issue. Plus most cultures in the East take care of their adult parents. We do that here too but there a lot of people who put their parents in rest homes. It’s not always a bad things. Sometimes the reason is cause u kno rest home are more patient with them. Adult kids work and can’t be home with them. Sure they can hire a caregiver or send em to an adult sitter but they can’t be with them parents 24 hours a day. They go home after. Plus a lot have jobs where they travel a lot and u kno when u travel a lot your not home all the time. Ur mostly on the road. They can’t be home with their parents so they send them to a home to live where they will have 24-hour care. U know there are good and bad things to ALFs like there is in everything in life. U just gotta do the research and see what’s best for you and others. I love meeting people and learning about different cultures because when I learn about them it’s me appreciate theirs and mine a lot. When I travel respect everyone and everything about another country. People gotta learn when visiting or immigrating learn how to bring together customs from their homeland and learn the customs of their new land. It’s the way we can learn and accept one and another
In India some people stay with their parents even after getting married and having kids. I’m not saying that’s good I’m just comparing how different it is
The differences between Eastern world and Western world has decreased thanks to internet and social media. It seems to me that there will be only one culture in the future which is indescribable now. Everybody will be connected to each other. And the violence will be obsolete. Maybe more meaningful world after 2100 century.

I think that the way Eastern world does most things including schooling is better than the west personally. Idk cause I have not been raised in both cultures but I see a lot of set backs in how the western culture is trying and trying and trying to do better but getting further and further away from remembering some of the fundamental things that keep the family and the society bonded together and helping eachother out... the Western culture has gotten out of hand if I could id move my family out of here 😢but I will stick with my family. I can't just abandon them. I got to try my best to make sure things go right no matter where I am. It wouldn't be right of me to my family nor the culture I move to cause though the grass may look greener on the other side I still would have to know how to maintain it or by moving to a greener pasture I'd only be doing the land an injustice for my own momentary gains. ❤

The eastern are conservative and traditional, they di not talk topics that are taboo tp them , the westerners are liberated, they are more liberal and practical.
They consider Australians to be westerners even though their in the east under Asia. This is due to the British empire, like many empires that have existed throughout human history.

I would say Africa is more in the west under Europe in the southern hemisphere if were talking Geography wise. However, culturally north Africa is mostly Islam. North Africa used to be Christian around 1400 years ago before Muhammad and the Muslim conquest into Africa, and spain in the 8th century. Spain became Catholic again some centuries later. South Africa today has a lot of christianity.
Islam is not really practiced very much in the West as you have defined the West (North America, South America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand). Why do you think Islam is practiced a lot in the West?

North and South America is not the west is, it is the Americas...... We have been influence by the west but are not the west.. no more than many Eastern Eurasian countries. As a Native American it is offensive to me for you to include me and our lands as part of western European culture. More than that you are over generalizing, Australia and New Zealand also have their own ancient cultures of Polynesians and melenations and people the predate colonization and are not part of your Asian racist generalizations of the world.
This is a good video, but isn't fully correct. Western culture has always believed in taking care of the elders and the older people definitely make the decisions for the family. We give more say as the children become young responsible adults. It is only the current generation that has put 7% of our elders into nursing homes. 93% stay living in our communities. We only here stories of the 7% because they can be AWFUL. Im a mixed Filipina btw, raised in CA.

@akmelot shliEastern World means only East Asia, South East Asia and South Asia basically all countries from Japan to India. So technically Arabs are not Eastern by any measure. The people of Middle East and North Africa (MENA) are grouped separately and not classified as Asian or Eastern.
