We've all been waiting on the processor video and man, you sure gave us one. Over an hour with a guest star, multi-trailer load and some of your best video work ever. Well done.
I enjoy watching all your videos. I have watched your processor videos for hours. I'm a retired mechanical engineer and can really appreciate the process. Lots of work went into a machine like that. I've cut up plenty of firewood in my day but nothing like that. I'm pushing 80 and can't do much anymore, but it sure is good to watch it. Keep up the good work!
Good morning Chris!!😀😀 Well you made me look pretty good for being a rookie. I came a long way from the first log to the last one. Can't wait to come back and run it again if you will have me. Thanks again and take care my friend!!😀😀👍👍 Logger Al
Obviously all those years of playing video games have paid off!! You are a natural on the processor Al...a real smooth operator!👍 Thanks for your guidance with getting Chris rolling with this operation!🇺🇸
Andy at Eastonmade should be very happy with this video. You put that machine to the test and pushed that deck past its limits and it never missed a beat!. Great video. And lastly. ITS ABOUT TIME!. Lol
I think what puts the eastonmade above others (besides the ruggedness) is the roller and dump capability for cookies. Man oh man what a sweet machine. Your relationship with Andrew is the next best thing to winning the lottery.
It handles the little logs like toothpicks but what impresses me the most is how it deals with the big logs, makes short work of them. Amazing! Will save your back for sure and production will go through the roof!! You worked hard for this, now let the machine work hard for you. Enjoy!
My friend Logger Al seems to have found a new best friend. Am thinking he'd love to bring that processor to his place to get his wood cut and split. He sounds like a kid in an all you can eat candy store! He sure enjoyed himself running that machine! The power of the splitter ram is unreal. It sure helps to have a 115hp Kubota powering the thing!
Love seeing the woodyard expand as you invest in it! I actually bought myself a woodprocessor, and it will definetly return its value. Keep going for it Chris!
Thank you for having a variety of people over to learn this machine. Every one is just a little bit different and so we get a different perspective from watching them. Now I understand why you took in all that "not so perfect wood. To see what they do with the irregular wood. I have an idea for helping the splits to clear the wedge: but maybe the engineers have already addressed this. Put "bosses" or "monuments" on the front of the pusher plate that stick out and push the splits farther through. It was interesting watching Logger AL work through the day, learning and adjusting his technique. Thanks AL and thanks Chris. And thanks Andy!
This is what we’ve been waiting for, for a minute I thought you had Si Robertson instead of Logger Al. If that gnarly tree service wood went through it the poles should be a piece of cake. Nicely done. Cheers
Logger Al is great! Perfect guy to have over for this maiden voyage. You've come a ways from the day of beating the rail straight on the glacier to the Eastonmade.
that’s nicer than the dyna for sure! my firewood competition buddy would have a guy by the wedge throwing the big splits back in to get split down smaller, but that slows down production so he would have the guy throw them over to a splitter and another guy split them into firewood size, basically the only problem with a processor…i bet your back feels terrific!
Nice work guys. I could see how Al was figuring out the efficiencies quickly and his methods changed from the start of the video to the end. I bet with another day or less on it he'd be flying through the wood very smoothly. Dave
Nice work Al and Chris. Lots of learning to be captured there. Once log loading size wise and wedge selection is taken are taken care of you will be flying with this machine
That processor is amazing! I think it'd be best to load the live deck from smallest to largest if possible. That way the wedge doesn't need to be lowered for smaller logs as you go only raise for bigger ones. Can really pump out the firewood with one of them. Next level production for sure.
That is one impressive machine Chris. The splitter is insane, I don't think you could stop it. I think you guy's did great. Only thing left is experience running it and it will come in due time. Great video and I'm glad you gave us extra footage today to see it work. A big wooohooo out to you and AL. 👍🪵
Good morning Chris congrats on getting a processor to demo 👍 That thing's awesome! I'm counting the actual functions at 10 x 2 ways = forward & reverse &etc... = Lots of functioning controls 🤯 That's going to take a lot of time for muscle memory to take over!
Nice movie Chris & Al. I had to stop for popcorn in the middle. You will master the controls and find ways to speed up / improve material handling, but will be running that thing in your sleep as a result. GNI
That is awesome never saw anything like it.If I watch to much I would have to clean drool off my phone.thank you so much for sharing your time and work Loved the video
Awesome to see the processor getting a workout. Chris you’re in the chips now buddy. You’ll get your cardio in jumping on and off your tractor and stacking for weeks on end. Remember to pet your Husky’s once in a while.
Chris I like it I may have to get one lol. He was really making firewood processing look easy and I’m going to agree sure beats the chainsaw and the maul. Take care, Ben.
A little tip for you, reverse your trailer back door towards the elevator so that the logs will be falling in the middle of the trailer that way the load will even out all the length of the trailer and you won’t have to level it from one side to the other 😜
Awesome video Logger Al and Chris! As with any new machine, there is a learning curve and trial and error period, learning what works, wedges included to get the size splits you desire is all part of the fun. Awesome processor to say the least. Great work Andrew, Eastonmade is top notch in my book. I am sure Kenny will be by to check it out and run it as well. 👍🏻👍🏻
That’s an amazing machine Chris. The split size is definitely too large for your traditional customers. I’m thinking there is probably a wedge available to split smaller pieces.
That machine looks like it would be challenging to get used to but Al made it look easy. I think you should hire Logger Al for a day or two a week. With him on the machine and you moving wood you two could process an insane amount of wood in a day! Obviously some pieces look a little big but I'm sure you already know that and you'll figure out an efficient way to get what you need.
Great to see the processor working, I think you’re going to need a 12 way wedge to get those small pieces and reduce the amount of re-splitting. Thanks for the long video, really enjoy the time lapse 👍
I could watch this for hours just dreaming when my company will be able to obtain a machine like that one.a machine like that would take my bundle and wood bizz to the moon. hopefully one day
Loved the video.. that machine is a beast! I mean what 30 men could chop all day long, in short order.. thanks for sharing.. from SE Texas Bear beards are what ALL Men use to wear..
That first "cut" was more like a bit of wood being guillotined. Wow. The first large diameter log through there was a bit of a wow moment too. The amount of wood from log to firewood in a few seconds :O An hour in I was thinking I hope Chris has now learned to keep a nice neat deck to make it easier to process and then he makes a colossal mess. A few hours on the processor sure made a good pile of wood.
I don't know why, but I like Logger Al negotiating the not so pretty logs. Show the capability of the machine better. Most videos of these machines show the machine flying thru perfect stock. Good to see this can handle the cookies and nasty crotches if necessary. I thought that tree service wood wasn't gonna be worth it to you with all the extra work. This thing ate it up.
Very well built and designed machine. I would like to see improvements to the wedge design to allow split pieces to clear the wedge. When it takes the next piece to push the split wood clear, that's when things can go sideways real quick. IMHO.
Chris, that machine is pretty amazing, and I'm impressed at the power the hydraulic power the ram has. As you run it you will get better at controlling it. I would like to make one suggestion from my observation of it running. On the smaller logs could you try cutting several off and stacking them up in the splitter. This way you could split many pieces with one pass. Just a suggestion. I think I saw this done at one of the demos. That was the best thing Andrew could have done sending you that processor!
This type of processor were the piece roles across to splitter. Cutting more than one piece at a time doesn't work because the second one doesn't roll into the splitter chamber and just hangs up on the tip plate. If it fell straight down into the chamber then you could cut more than one at a time before you cycled the splitter.
The tree service wood will be more troublesome to process. Now when you start the logger pulp wood - that thing will absolutely cover up the trailer in no time. More consistent diameter wood will let you set the wedge closer for the smaller splits . 👍👌
I like the camera angle at the top of the conveyor belt pointing down. The guy you have as your operator catches on quickly. That thing will definitely push out some firewood but it does look like some of those pieces will have to be re-processed they are a little too big.
My goodness Al! You sure don’t get bored running that behemoth! Feel like coming to Nova Scotia and do a cameo on my channel? I can find you a machine to run! 😂
The one thing I've found to really increase your production once ya get some time on the controls is to load the logs smallest end first. You won't fight the wedge as much and it will keep it all moving along. I know everytime I train in someone else on loading the log deck I get to explain this over and over again. Nice machine tho. Not even making it grunt yet.
This is great but I'm a traditionalist. I am already missing the regular cut and split videos. Production and quantity are taking over the woodyard. Thank God for Out of The Woodyard
Do not worry, there will be lots more chain saw action to come! Most of the tree service wood needs a chain saw and there will always be location cutting too! More to come!
Split sizing will improve once you get into the regular wood.piles. the regular wood you have delivered is sorted better for diameter. Setting the wedge will be one and done, pretty much. A different wedge for the large diameter atuff would be handy to avoid havingbto resplit.
What an absolute hoss! Any shady spots in the woodyard left? Might have to take it in the studio for some conditioned air. Now that would make for some videos Should've had Ken and Tony down. Let all the kids play with the new toy
Morning Fellas, nice production, Awesome machine! Liked Logger Al with ZZ Top, the drummer, the one without the beard- his name is Frank Beard- go figure. When you go thru that crooked tree service wood, and sink your teeth into the straighter logger John wood she”ll really fly. Take care
Very impressive operation. Watching someone do this on TV is not the same as physically sitting in the seat for the first time. The operation of this equipment is not a see one, do one, teach one. Some people are not of the generation of video games so it will take longer to develop muscle memory and hand eye coordination. Logger Al is watching the wood while having a soft touch on all of the controls. Chris does Eastonmade have a simulator of the processor that you can use to learn the operation while waiting for delivery?
The processor is awesome I would love to have one. The only thing I see that I don't like is there are some really big pieces coming out on the conveyor is that a concern of yours I remember you saying in your videos you like them and your customers like them to be able to just grab them by one hand and pick them up.
That 22MB is going to really increase the output! I think you might need some more space to store all of the processed wood! It looks like the processor will also make more scrap pieces/kindling, but the gain in efficiency will more than offset that. Have you thought about your strategy with the processor? I was thinking that you could just use the single wedge to reduce the amount of waste, you could then offer larger wood for those who heat large homes (boiler slabs) and you can further process with the Ultra for the fireplace wood. Is Andrew working on a stacking machine now? 😁
Wow that thing is impressive 👍 Those are some pretty thin hinges on those big (Ash?) logs at 25:30. Those things must have been standing straight up and down and have been wedged over
From the look of the sizes of many of the splits, you'll need to work out a procedure to use the Ultra to resplit during stacking to keep the final piece sizes within ITWY standards.
Looks like make lot wood in hurry. Looks like a two man job keep it going. Between loading the deck dumping trailer. Nice see that machine run. Have good day.
Notice: As of June 1,2022 Anybody wishing to try their hand at running the new Eastonmade 22 will be expected to stay after and hand stack all your work!🤠
Unreal! Crazy massive piece of equipment! Go Eastonmade! I am curious about the time it takes for the chainsaw cutter to actually reach the wood itself? It appears that is the slowest part of the process? Is that just the way Logger Al was choosing to operate or is that a fixed speed on the chainsaw arm lowering?
