Thanks for this, just jumping in shook off a lot of confusion and the various functions were clear as a bell. I've watched other people trying to explain functions outside of the workflow context and this was way better than any other way to see the functions and options, a great tutorial.
Excellent Quick Start Guide. I recommend it to everyone who see this octopus as a The Cyclops Labyrinth. Very clear and wise choice of example. Thank you very much.
Thanks for this helpful walk-through. I'm glad you focused on creating your own presets because that's where the real power in this tool is for me. I'm also a Studio One user, so if you have figured it out, I'd love to see you export the MIDI from Orchestrator into separate tracks in the DAW. EW hasn't yet explained that or covered it in the manual, but they have said it's possible. Thanks again for taking the time to help us learn Orchestrator.
I looked for a solution to this, but I haven't come up with anything yet. I tried bouncing the pitches to new tracks, and I tried matching up the MIDI inputs and outputs, but nothing has worked so far. I'll keep digging.
Very nice. That power button had me frustrated until I finally saw it. They should make that button visible in the sequencer view so you can easily toggle it on and off. I am now exploring how much I can change with midi automation and keyswitches. I would love to be able to switch patterns on the fly with a keypress.
Great video, I have just bought the subscription mostly because of the Orchestrator. I also like you use Studio One, which I also have. Not many videos of people using this DAW so this is super helpful.
This library was ahead of it's time. When it came out, computers were not powerful enough to handle the CPU demands. Now with this orchestrator, the real beauty if the library comes out. Nice to rediscover this again.
Agree. I tried East Wests libraries years ago and it’s Player was clunky and unusable. With the Opus and Orchestrator it’s a stunning tool for composing.
Is 'Orchestrator" a seperate product? I cannot find it in my installation. I have composer cloud + (I believe). I just got it yesterday. Before that, I had EW Play and Hollywood Orchestra.
yes, hollywood orchestrator should be listed as a separate product in the EW installation center. if you're using Play, you might need to upgrade to EW Opus to use orchestrstor.
Thanks so much. The POWER BUTTON!!👍👍👍. That's what's been bugging me. Nothing more frustrating than creating something, being able to see it on the screen but sod all coming out of the monitors. Looking forward to playing with this "in anger" 😄😄😄🎶🎵🎵🎹🕶️🤞
Could you please help me? For any kind of reason, my orchestrator doesn´t show "Empty Preset" it says "No presets". And i can´t open any. How do I fix that? I have all the Hollywood Orchestra Libaries installed...
HI, at 1:18 when you are explaining how the sections are organized from top to bottom and you select what you want to load, I dont have that area on my screen for some reason and I can't find a toggle switch for that. Am I missing something here?
Hey bud, thank you so much for this great quick start guide, this has helped me make sense out of this program, and you made it so easy and started with the very basics. Thank you so much, I will be watching more of your videos, and have already subscribed to your channel. I did have a question though: INSTEAD OF DRAWING THE NOTES IN THE EDITOR OF EACH SECTION, E.G. STRINGS OR BRASS, CAN WE NOT PLAY THEM WITH THE MIDI KEYBOARD? IF YES, HOW? CAN YOU PLEASE SHARE, THANK YOU.
Exporting MIDI: Create 16 Midi Tracks, Route the Orchestrator Instruments using the SAME MIDI Channels on the "MAIN" screen to those tracks. Record Arm all the MIDI tracks and hit play on your DAW. The Midi is exported and recorded to each of the 16 Tracks. This allows you to assign OTHER VIs to each of those tracks. It does not Route the Orchestrator sound the individual tracks, only the MIDI DATA! It's STILL buggy as hell...In Pro Tools and Studio One you get a "WEIRD" piano playing during the export which I've reported.
your copy/paste technique left a lot to be desired and when all was done, I could not hear anything if i toggle on the pattern.. but I hear just a single note (not the pattern) when I toggle it off
I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I load up a fresh instance of orchestrator and load up any of the presets. It doesn't load anything. I play a chord but nothing happens. Why?
I had that problem at first, too. Make sure you have all of the Hollywood Orchestra instruments installed and accessible to your DAW. Also make sure that you download the Opus versions of all of the Hollywood Orchestra instruments.
@@SophisticatedApe42 I didn't grab the violin and cello (have 8dio) but have added them to the download que. I also noticed that there was no midi loaded in and the instruments loaded into the very left screen but not into the editor. Very weird. Reinstalling.
Great content, thank you. I don't wish to to be negative, but perhaps consider dialling down the compressor on your vocal mic, increase distance from vocal mic and drink water, as the mouth noise and swallowing is quite distracting. Please consider this constructive and sent with good intent. Best Regards.
My system is above the required specs, but just meets the recommended: Intel Core i7, 32GB RAM. I don't have much latency, but I have pushed Orchestrator enough to crash Studio One many times.
I'm using AMD Ryzen 9 and 64 gig. Latency has never been an issue but I do find, on occasions that it will just "hang" Cubase 11 Pro (latest version). I've set it to auto save every 15 minutes and find if I load the latest backup file, the problem clears and I can continue. I've also found that with more than 1 instance of Opus loaded into a project, even though I may have no problems with the project, if I try to close Cubase (after saving project), Cubase "hangs" and I have to close it through task manager (Windows 10 latest updates). Not a problem - just a minor irritation.
I can't see orchestrator anywhere. Although I've just signed up for a subscription and only one of the string packages are downloaded. Do I need to download the orchestrator separate or did it come with the East West Installation center?
If you already have the EastWest Installation Center, from the installation center you'll need to download Opus, Hollywood Orchestrator, and all of the Hollywood Orchestra instruments: Hollywood Strings, Hollywood Woodwinds, Hollywood Brass, Hollywood Percussion, Hollywood Harp, Hollywood Solo Cello, Hollywood Solo Violin to get the full use of Orchestrator.
"Why isn't that working out"? TELL US! Also tell us how you are putting in the 8th and 16th notes. You're the teacher (allegedly). Tell us (the students) how you are doing things!
