Hey tenor guitar players! Here's an unsponsored demo of the Eastwood Classic tenor guitar tuned GDAE, and strung with flat wound strings. I'll tell you why I play this tenor more than all my others, what I like about it and give you lots of sound samples. It's versatile and practical. Check it out. I think I like the bridge pickup the best. FYI, my pickup selector switch is reversed. So when the switch is down it's playing the neck pickup. Don't forget subscribe for more free demos and lessons.

Thank again Todd, I have been considering the classic tenor for some time, Right now I am playing a twenty inch scale tenor banjo, just seventeen frets, neck is an inch and a eighty wide at nut That's cool for me and my skinny fingers 'cause it makes the fretboard only 13 inches long and I use it all. Counting the days to see my new tenor. excellent video's by the way speed sound all very good . Matt CGDA

Very cool. We need more tenor guitar players like you who play hip and funky music like rock, funk, R&B and reggae which is right up my alley. Could you also please post Chicago tunning?

Thanks! I appreciate the feedback. I keep looking for good bands that use tenors and they are to find. I'll look into this Chicago tuning suggestion too

I liked my Classic Tenor; good action , neck, sound & looks. Unfortunately, I kept knocking the floating bridge when playing, putting the guitar out of tune - intonation was also not too good. Please note that I used light strings (10s or 11s) in Chicago tuning which may have been half the problem - I kept knocking the bridge during live performances which caused some anguish, so I sold it.

Hi Denis, I've knocked my bridge out of place too. Now I put a drop of varnish on either side which seems to keep in place, but you can still easily break the glue bond if you need to change it. It's definitely something that requires attention!

Real cool funky playin' . Tenor guitars are the perfect solution for the 90% of new guitar players who quit or the people with hand injuries that prevent them from playing 6 strings but a a big secret. No matter what, its just hella amazing period! Most people don't know Tenor guitars exist and that's a shame. Imagine how many more people would play guitar??!!

I too am a preacher in the tenor guitar movement! It's easier to learn, and for me a instrument for any style of music. Thanks for the kind words

I've noticed behind you the Astrojet Tenor a model that reminds the Gibson SG ,i was interested to buy one , and i have waited and waited to see if Eastwood would have made some for left handed. Nothing to do , now , in 2024, the Astrojet is on the catalogue again , after some years when it went out of the market, but ,as it seems , left handed is not available . Too bad!

Hi Patrick, I just checked at Eastwood, and yes you are right-no left handed astrojets. Maybe because this current run was so small.?? It's a very solid instrument. Maybe they will make some lefties in the future!

Sadly I didn’t get along with my Eastwood. Fortunately I was able to find a Gibson ETG-150 from ‘57 which I adore and sits nicely with ES-150. I must say I’m falling in love with P90 sound…
@tenorguitartime
@tenorguitartime Год назад
Hi Michelle, I've been admiring both of those models! How do you think the Eastwood compares to the Gibson? Do they both have p-90s?
@michellelaverickmusic
@michellelaverickmusic Год назад
@@tenorguitartime yes, the both have p90s. The custom Eastwood I had was modelled on the same lines as the Gibson (fraction of the price obvs) I desperately wanted one after hearing Lucy Farallel base her songs round one. The Gibson are as rare as hens teeth here in the U.K. in fact I searched for 6 months without one ever appearing even in Europe! So I consider myself very lucky to find one. As for difference that’s hard to say as it’s so very subjective. Action was higher on Eastwood. But I’m being picky it was more the “feel”. Of course I didn’t know that until I collected it. One of the downsides of modern day is impossibility of try before you buy. Unless you travel hours and still have to make decision on the spot. So I had 30 days with Easterman. And I bought the Gibson unseen until collecting it in Wales. I guess I least had my ES-150 (the 6 string) to compare it too…

Btw. Have you played Cravens tenor guitars? I tried to secure one but with them being in Canada with a distribution in the U.K., the import duties started to get complicated…

Hi Michelle, No, I haven't played, nor have ever seen a Cravens tenor. Actually, there are almost zero tenors available in the music stores near me in Los Angeles. I've been admiring the Nigel Forster tenors on line, but I think they are very expensive. Do the Cravens have a good reputation?@@michellelaverickmusic

@@tenorguitartime Sadly not… I’d hoped being state side you might had encountered them. They do *look* good but as we know looks can be deceiving. Still if like me you attracted to the archtop p90 style but like the $$$ or access to vintage thru are an alternative to Eastman. I do love clean warm sound of the p90. I’m playing mine thru a Roland Boss Acoustic Singer Pro, I think it’s similar to the Roland Jazz Master…

Tenor Guitar or baritone Mandolin? 😂 I don’t understand why only four strings would be put on an instrument the size of a guitar. Like, why be so limited? Of course I refuse to buy a bass with just four strings, so maybe I’m biased loll That all being said, i am also a mandolinist and to get that mandolin feel/sound when I need electric, I have a danelectro that I tuned in 5ths GDAE and the top two strings I tune to whatever to get a little experimental 😁 anyways, rock on man.

These 4 stringers are really good for people who have more experience playing violin or mandolin and who are ready to rock!

90% of new guitar players quit the 1st year. This is a perfect solution and it's hella fun to play. So what if it's 4 string? Playing 6 string is just alot more work. I like thinking smarter not harder. I love playing it and I can get a great sound with not having to work as hard but I can play a lot of chords and songs. I have permanent nerve damage in my index finger so this is my sweet spot. Try one out, you would be pleasantly surprised.
@tenorguitartime

@@MMauricette I agree, MMauricette. It is easier on the hand and neck/shoulder for me too. I also think having the instrument strung in fifths GDAE or CGDA makes it much easier and faster to learn than with guitar tuning.
