That was great. I'm not too bad say with using my DeepMind, but always found it difficult with lots of menu diving. This has shown me how to navigate much better. Thanks.
Got my Kronos 2 about 9 month ago, shortly before Korg stopped selling those (only Kronos' which are already in stock of retailers are sold nowadays, to my knowledge. No new ones are delivered) Had to choose between a Montage or a Kronos. Couldn't be happier with my choice. I'm mostly into programing patches. But all in all, it the best value for money in this price range.
Very helpful video, there is quite some shortage of material on how to fully leverage the power of the Kronos for those who are not necessarily pro music producers. Thanks Alex! Can't wait to see more videos about your workflow
Hello, this Is a good tuto, thanks ! There is an easier way at the beginning : just open the *Menu* at the upper right and choose *Initialize Program* . You will directly enter to the very basic AL1 settings.
Great video! I love the PolysixEX. I have an old Polysix so I'm very familiar with it. The MS20EX is very good too. I really have to say that the Korg Kronos is probably the most powerful synth out there even to this day. Granted there are a lot of people who complain about it not doing this or that. In my opinion, there is still nothing that actually does as much well as what the Kronos does.
I totally agree Jeremy! It's the power of layering / splitting 16 sounds... 16? No one else can that. But, even more importantly, it's the quality of the output. It sounds amazing.
subbed. i own a korg kronos 2 - 88 keys since the 2015, from the beginning, its underrated............difficult but if you see inside of that beast its one of the best thing you can buy
Now this was a good tutorial I think. And about the question if this is necessary spite all the presets - defintely YES. Cause as I've checked all my 1500+ presets - these kind of raw analog sounds are definitely missing! Loads of presets are drenched in effects and too much of everything, even with compressors to sound modern. But the ancient analog sounds were often pure and simple. If you go your own route and maybe even switch off effects completely both engines will offer the required rawness and simplicity.
Exactly! Thanks for your feedback Torben, I've always been fascinated with going the opposite way, taking a finished sound and remove modulation, effects, filter and go to its origin, is a great way to learn synthesis because you understand exactly what each of these stages does to the sound. I must say, the Kronos raw sound is really nice. I'll soon compare it to an actual analog synth - my prophet 5 - and we'll see how well it stands against the best (in my opinion) ☺️
Thx for the video. Simple and yet so complex. I’ve had my Kronos X 88 for about 10 years now and look forward to exploring these engines now. Definitely subbed too. 👍🎹😃
There's a guy on Instagram who actually created the same sound on a prophet and a Kronos and played them next to each other. And the sound is exactly the same! But didn't show how to do it! Thank you for showing us the process
Hi Jim! It is a very good question. Hard to tell... I really hope that my Kronos never breaks or needs repairing, but to be honest if it did need repairing, I'm not the kind of guy that would try to order parts, get it fixed etc. I personally would try to sell it and buy something different, as much as I love it. It's just my deficiency: I love gear that can help us be creative and smoothen that process, make it easy. Thank you ☺️
I saw many Korg keyboard like Korg Triton or Triton extreme or m3 or m50 because it has feature like register numeric buttons with hold button feature it is to change any tone within in second please add that feature on latest keyboard on your Korg Nautilus or Kronos 1 or Kronos 2 or any new Korg keyboard because I am having Korg Triton keyboard it is easy to register any tone on numeric buttons with hold feature and it easier than touch please add that feature
Too many parameters. It’s like programming on a photocopier. The Fantom is so much easier with its simplified purpose-built interfaces for specific synth emulations. Even tho Kronos has the MS-20 and Poly-Six interfaces, they are still subject to the tabs and tabs of other parameters that affect the sound.
I know, sorry 😂 I was using a new point and shoot for the first time (Sony ZV 1) and I didn't bother learning how you focus manually (not simply a switch on the lens as it's a fixed lens camera). Basically I was lazy 😭 My main camera is a Panasonic S5. Thanks for your feedback ☺️
