KORG KRONOS Tutorial - How to program a DRUM TRACK

You can program your own DRUM TRACK in the Korg Kronos. Based on Phil Collin's Drum Pattern from "In the air tonight" I show you how to do this step by step. In the end we export this self created Drum Track into a Combination to play that song the way you can hear it in the intro.

This is good. Just in terms of learning to step program drums but also integrating the patterns into the sequencer. And also just learning hidden corners of the Kronos toolset. I enjoy your relaxed teaching style and will be looking at more of your vids.

Thanx! In the bands I've been playing, the (real) drummer does everything else. If you wanna program it, you should use the Sequencer, maybe with more Patterns, using the Pattern RPPR in the Kronos.

No, he gets the loop loud enough on his monitor. As soon as he starts the full part of the song, I stop the loop.

Juance tapia Thanks! This drum kit is a Program of the Factory Presets: User A 030 - 80008 Kit , it might as well be User BB 014 - 80008 Kit, depending on which Kronos you have. Do you find it right now?

Dankeschön. Kann man auch Drumfills programieren die man live im laufendem Drumtrack startet wann man will ? So wie bei einem Entertainer Keyboard die Fill Funktion.

So eine Funktion ist bei der KRONOS zunächst nicht vorgesehen, das müßte man über den Sequenzer lösen. Aber es gibt ein Programm, das ein solches Feature für die Kronos anbietet. Ich checke das auch gerade aus und werde dazu noch Tutorials drehen: kronosflyby.myweb2be.com

How about combining sounds from multiple drum kits or loading your own drum samples? Is there a pattern chain function for programming a whole song thru? For this being a "workstation" I'm finding a lot of info on keyboard sounds and very little on sequencing/drum programming.

I've never used this, but it should be possible within the sequencer....

Good tutorial, but I would suggest you not play background music and extraneous sounds while teaching about programming sounds. At certain points it was confusing or I couldn't hear the drum beats he was playing.

@@juergenkoehler The music is running all the time, which is of a problem because that obviously uses an 808 as well. Otherwise good tutorial

I guess you should use the sequencer of you need that. The DRUM TRACK is just 1 pattern.

@@juergenkoehler well i figured it out a way i can use karma module drum pattern and assign the pattern parameters to expression pedal , it does a job of playing random fills but it would be nice to have a fill like an arranger

I followed this to the letter and going back to Init 000 or 001, not there? Even told it to save to Set Lists,,, not there??? What am I doing wrong, please?

It plays just like yours does.. except when I will shut the keyboard off to go do something else, then turn it back on later,. I cannot find that 000 or 001 or drum track..that was set up?? Yes, I can find the Vintage Saw sound.. I tried to save it to Settings. Now I know if I do save it so settings that I have to tell it to write it to settings, hit the record button, OK.....I will give it go again.

ooh well are you just using it as a visual guide for programming the pattern in, yourself? Maybe I'm confusing this with another tutorial or it's something you do later I don't know art something you did earlier and I'm just over complicating it but… Did you download a midi file and then upload it into the Kronos? Back in the day I had it Trayton and I knew that thing pretty well but I still haven't gotten any of the drum type things in my Kronos but soon things seem to be clicking exponentially finally after a year. Grateful for all the people like you that make these videos thanks

Yes, this beat-website is just a visual guide. There's nothing to download. You can download my programmed Drum Track and Soundfile for the KRONOS from my website or prorgam it step by step like I show in my Tutorial.

Kronos runs a full OS in the background. Don't understand why Korg cudnt include a VST style, simple drum machine type interface. I have a 15 yr old Korg TR which has an almost similar and highly complicated work flow like the Kronos. Seems like Korg developers just can't let go of their legacy design thinking even when their work stations have like 100 times more processing power now.

Hi Edward, you're right, the Kronos is very complex, every sound engine is a keyboard on it's own and combining them on a user surface is even more complicated. That's why I try to explain only one topic a time and step by step.
