My husband had me put a chain loop on both ends...so two old fogeys (us?) could pass a hot casserole etc. back and forth by sliding across the table! I laughed, but by golly it works!

Hi Robert! I’m so happy that crochet was able to do that for you. Many people use crochet for peace of mind and relaxation. Especially the repetitive patterns where you can pick up a rhythm and get lost in it. 😊❤️🧶

My mom used to make these for me and my sisters. They are the best potholders! She passed away in December. I’m so happy to find this tutorial. I’ve never crocheted a thing, but I’m going to give these a try - in her memory. I want to pass some along to my adult children and friends too.

Your daughter was so cute!! Then when she picked up the knitting needles and hit them together like some of the drummers do, I thought that was priceless!! Tiffany hang on to this tutorial because one of these days this will probably embarrass her!! She’s really adorable!! I love this potholder!! My daughter’s kitchen is mostly purple! I have a variegated cotton yarn that’s dark & light purple, pink & white. That’s for my daughter. Then my daughter-in-law and my sister-in-law’s kitchen is red. So now I’m making their’s! Thank you!! No, I’m a pencils style holder also. I learned 60 years ago how to crochet from an elderly (she was probably 50 and I was 12) I’m the really elderly one now. Anyway she would not let me hold it any other way. I was beginning to think it was an antiquated way of crocheting. I digress. I love this pot holder and have a new cone of Premiere cotton and now I know what to do with it. Thank you. The bit at the end was just darling. Very lovely young lady.

Great! I thought there was something wrong with the way I held my hook. My Mum taught me as a child. I've never been able to hold the hook like a "club"! 🤣🤣 Just being mean! I really think the way I crotchet tires out my wrist really quickly, but I just can't change. Ah well! It's not a competition! Stella

About every 5 stitches, when closing, I will grab a piece of yarn from the back, this keeps the potholder from slipping against itself, or puffing up like she said at the end.

I just finished making this, and even though I’m somewhat of a rookie when it comes to crocheting, I think it came out just perfect. It’s going to be a gift so I’m thrilled! 🤗 This tutorial was so well done - great explanations, lots of patience, and the fact that you used a whitish yarn helped to see the steps better. I happened to choose a dark teal so there were moments when it was challenging, but it was all good. Thank you so much for this Tiffany! 🎉 You’re a true teacher.

I'm making a few for my son but was thinking how easy it would be to dress some up for us girls. add a flower, owl, or anything else to dress them up if you don't want them plain. Hope my wrists hold out so I can get a bunch of them done for Christmas. thanks for the share :)

I learned how to make a simplified version of these (just plain SC, no BLO - and no row counting, just go until it's square!) from my grandmother 40ish years ago. She would make them to use up scrap yarn, so they were always wild color combos. We always used them as hot pads/trivets though, not as potholders!

Thank you for the tutorial. I can't wait to try it out. I don't have row markers, but I've been using bobby pins. They are great because they are easy to put in and take out, and they don't pierce through the yarn like a paperclip might. The ending is so cute - like she knows she was caught where she isn't supposed to be.
