Hi Greg. I am going to surprise my son with this the next time he drives over to spend time with me. He is 45 and still enjoys moms cooking. I have been trying new recipes lately for him. He loved your creamy Potato Chicken Bake that I made for him on his last visit.
Just discovered your channel, love it. You are barmy haha. I throw a piece of pasta on to the worktop to cool a bit before checking. Have watched a few and you have really good, easy recipes, thoroughly enjoying the mad antics.
Hi Greg! Here's the recipe you asked for! Antoine from Switzerland here and I found a recipe that I think you'll find really interesting: a pizza in a mug made in the microwave. This is a very special subscriber view recipe for you. Here we go! 1. In a mug, add 4 tablespoons of flour, 1/8 teaspoon of salt, 1/8 teaspoon of baking powder and add a pinch of baking soda. 2. Add in 3 tablespoons of milk and 1 tablespoon of oil (any kind) and mix thoroughly. 3. That's the dough done, add some tomato sauce on to the top. 4. Add some shredding cheese on top. 5. To add some extra zing, top with some herbs or small pieces of pepperoni. 6. Microwave for 70 - 80 seconds on high. I did it one night and it was amazing. It's absolutely revolutionary. Do give this one a go. It'll make for a great video, I'm sure. Keep doing your thing, Greggo!
Speaking as a Yank of Italian heritage, you ALWAYS salt the pasta water. The water must taste like the ocean. You should also save a cup of the water for use after the pasta is cooked to pour into the sauce (although your batch only needs a half cup). That makes the sauce stick to the pasta. You can freeze the rest of the water in ice cube trays for use in thickening future sauces and/or soups. You also always salt a little bit at every step to build flavor. You NEVER dump oil or grease down the drain because it clogs your pipes. Just pour off into a jar or can and either throw away or use as dripping on toast (beats Marmite like a red-headed step-child).
I only salt when boiling pasta, because I like the way it makes the pasta taste. But I never use salt for anything else. I used to make my own Hamburger Helper back in the day because it always yielded two meals for myself. I found that it might cost a bit more than actually making a Hamburger Helper meal, but at the same time, it cooked together quicker prolly because you can boil your pasta while browning the ground beef. Not to mention that a pound of beef and a pound of pasta yields a bit more food. All you need is your favorite cheese, mine is sharp cheddar. With a bit of sour cream in the mix, it comes out to be much better.
Lol, Greg. I don't use salt at all, but I do add it to the water when making pasta, mostly because I love a salty noodle. I always drain the greasy fat, especially when I make Hamburger Helper. I can't believe that some people don't. We all gotta attempt to make food a little bit healthier when we can, you know without sacrificing flavor. Oh yes, and never rinse the pasta people, you need that starch to absorb the sauce into the noodles and make it stick. Oh man Greg, looking at this food is totally giving me a foodgasm.
If you have a pressure cooker look up pressure cooker pasta or instant pot pasta, usually add all ingredients to the pot with 3 or 3.5 cups of water, cook 4 minutes, flavors really meld 700- 825 ml
Looks delicious Greg, as do all of your dishes. I think I will have to get the teatime nosh ready now, your video's always get the gastric juices flowing and my stomach rumbling for tasty fuel. Bye for now.
