Whenever I make frosting I stick the mixing bowl and mixing handle into the freezer for an hour and I’ve gotta say it’s the best frosting I ever make. Just my little tip for anyone who’s frosting comes out not so great on hot day’s. I do this trick all year long and it’s below zero here. Your recipes are phenomenal! Thank you for sharing them.
JOOOOOOOOOHN, where have you been all my life🤣I've bben a baker since I was little in my grandmas kitchen sitting on the counter patting out homemade bisquits, and you have been such a breath of fresh air to the baking scene. You have SO many good tips and trick that make baking easier.LOVE LOVE LOVE all of it. Thanks for everything, and keep it all coming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ohhhhh baby, I have some bananas just waiting for this recipe! lol .. thank you so much, your instructions are perfect - educational and yet, fun, at the same time.
I don’t know if John has ADHD like me, but I always forget to turn things on and I skip steps like he does in the kitchen. In life, actually 😂 Watching him make little mistakes is not only adorable, but it helps me be kinder to myself and less frustrated when I make them myself ❤ 🍌 🍰
❤This one looks so dreamy! I’ve been enjoying so many of your recipes since joining this channel. Next up is your Cookbook…I’ve put it on my birthday wish-list and rumor has it that I’ll be baking even more! I can’t wait. Thanks so much.
I just want to let you know that I baked this cake I didn't have baking soda and I use baking powder, I didn't have vanilla but I did have some type of almond flavor drops, and I added peanut butter, oh I also didn't have cinnamon and instead I used nutmeg and wow it is still really really good not a dense cake at all, it's still fluffy and DELICIOUS!! 🤤🌟🎂
Hey John I really like all your recipes But this one is awesome i baked it this morning cos its so cold in South Africa thanks it came out too lovely i enjoyed it
I've been watching for the last couple of days not only do you present a incredible presentation and make a wonderful and delicious product witch im absolutely sure it is you also teach as you go very enjoyable to watch. My question is how to make these wonderful desserts sugar free for diabetics is that possible
i said this before you need to a cake book with all of your best cakes cooks and cup cakes, breads That would be great/ You are wone Amazing baker??????
My gay friends and I play a drinking game while watching these videos. Whenever John innocently says a word or phrase that could be taken as innuendo, we take a shot. Sometimes we get quite drunk and it's very fun. Bottoms up...thanks John.
Thoughts on how to make this gluten free?? I'm just getting into cooking and biggest thing holding me back is needing everything "mostly" gf (can have it in small amounts)
I noticed on the recipe website you're using King Arthur flour. It's my understanding that KAF has a higher protein content. How will it affect the recipe outcome if I use Gold Medal?
Did you know that if you freeze the bananas then squeeze the skins to get all the flavor of banana when they thaw? It will increase the flavor greatly.
I've got bananas in the freezer now. There's always an extra banana left over that gets too ripe for my liking, so I just stash the extra in the freezer.
The way you explain why you do things in order and all the backing tip makes it so much better. You are not just sharing recipes…you are teaching. I love your channel I’m baking this tomorrow!
Made this yesterday (my first from scratch cake), followed your instructions to the letter and it is THE most moist cake! Delicious! I added chopped pecans. Thank you John!
This cake & frosting are delicious. I cut the recipe in half to make a smaller cake. I regret it now, cause I could have enjoyed having more in the house. Thank you, Jon.
I really enjoy how you do not cut off your mistakes it makes your videos more natural, already tried several of your recipes and really looking forward to buying your book next 💓🍪🍩🎂
I am a banana cake FREAK! I have a go to recipe that uses sour cream. I am eager to give yours a try. You could also add crushed pineapple and pecans for a delicious hummingbird cake! P.S. So sorry to hear about your mushy banana trauma from your childhood. The worst is when you forget the banana is in your backpack all weekend and you find it on Monday. Grody!
I’ve baked a few banana bread/cake recipe’s in my day. But this is by far the best one. The best cake ever!!! I also really enjoy your carrot cake too. Both are my go to cake for events, festivities and just for me to enjoy. Thank you….
Hey… tried this recipe and loved it. Replaced all purpose flour with whole wheat and used only granulated brown sugar. It was incredibly moist and perfectly caramelised. Also used only one cup of banana and it packed a punch! Thanks for sharing.
I CAME TO FIND YR FULL VIDEO AFTER WATCHING THE SHORT JUST NOW. THAT FROSTING LOOKS SO DELICIOUS MMMM. 😊 I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO TRYING THIS RECIPIE. THANK YOU, JOHN. AND NOW I KNOW WHAT THE DARK BANANA IS. THAT'S MY LEARN FOR THE AFTERNOON. SEE YOU PN YR NEXT VIDEO. 🖐🏼😊 🇬🇧
I just made this cake for friends and it was a total hit! I used only 2 cups of powder sugar instead of 4 in the frosting and it was PERFECT! I was not needing it to be as beautifully stiff in the final presentation as I put it in a side bowl and let people apply as much or little as they wanted to their slice. We all liked it less sweet.
Just made your recipe BUT the frosting came out grainy, you could taste the powder sugar and the butter was like it had melted even though it was fluffy, I didn't add all the sugar that it was asked for ,only 400g.as we don't like it too sweet and you couldn't taste the cream cheese at all. What did I do wrong; The cake came out perfect though.
Another winning recipe, John! Will you please make Tom Kah (Thai coconut soup)? Had it for the first time recently at a local restaurant and it was absolutely delicious! Would love to make it at home but not sure the best recipe to use. Thanks!
John, how you are not a gazillion pounds with all these yummy things, I can’t fathom… I gain weight from looking at them… lol… I’m still going to make this! Thank you!
John, your lament of the school lunch banana has unearthed a long forgotten memory from my school days. A particularly banged up banana on which the skin had split slightly and squished some of its contents around my lunch box, that was not a fun day. On a happier note the cake looks divine, will definitely give it a try.
Another incredible recipe, John! Thank you! I thought sure that you would've used Buttermilk, but regardless, it's Wonderful. I guess you come to similar end results due to the combination of milk and lemon (Some would use vinegar instead of lemon). Have a blessed day, Sir!
I usually like to watch your videos but I’m traumatised by the amount of sugar in this recipe, a whooping 1.06 kg in total! With 12 servings, each serving contains 88.333gm or 6 Tablespoons! It may taste delicious (of course so much sugar) but at the cost of one’s health, it’s not worth it, at least for me.
John its the best banana cake ive ever made💖💖💖💖💖had some over ripe bananas sitting on the counter, and didn't want to throw it away, and came by your recipe💖
That looks so yummy 😋🤤! I actually laughed out loud to your backpack banana and not turning on the scale! You are a delight to watch and your recipes look delicious 😋🤤!
No offence, I love your account, and I have been following you for a while now, but you speak a lot, and that takes almost most of your video time. I always fall asleep in the middle because I lose interest. Your recepies are awesome, and I made some myself, but I had to cut out the parts you speak about unnecessary topics. It would be better if you just kept to the main ingredients and measurements.
I just made this and it came out ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! thx for the recipe. I have now made this about 4 times. My favorite! I doubled the cinnamon though.😊
This is my reminder that I have been wanting to make banana cake! I always say banana bread but cake is so much better because it’s so moist and delicious. I use 4 bananas!
I was just a little shy of 2 full cups of bananas so I added enough sour cream to make up the difference (about 3 tablespoons). I was scared to death that this would ruin the cake, but it turned out delicious!
This cake turned out to be a success too. It was full of that sweet banana flavour although I didn’t add cinnamon and lemon. Topped it off with marble cake’s chocolate frosting. One issue with buttercream was that it had large sugar granules although it is mixed well but still.
